- My cousin CJ and I went in pursuit of his PB smallmouth and we ended up in the middle of the nuclear powerplant discharge! We had an exciting day on the water to say the least check out the video to see our experience.
The real danger is it could have SUNK the boat by displacing the water with air.
MythBusters did a video on something like this. The upwards force of the air moving up through the water is strong enough that it will actually be harder to get deeper in the bubble column, rather than easier. The only danger was when they neared the edge of the column and were able to get under the cape of the mushroom at the surface, where the circulation pushed them down slightly. Almost all the force is outwards (horizontal) though.
Many large ships have gone to the bottom in a similar way. Everything happens so fast that you don't have time for a mayday call. Very spooky and I don't think they understood how deadly that was and they dodged a bullet and the guy on the bows quick thinking with the trolling motor might be the reason that the boat is not on the bottom.
Dude, I laughed so hard at your reaction when it startled you. I can assure you mine would probably have been worse. I might have had to change my pants, of course I usually fish out of a kayak and that would have been much more dramatic. You recovered real well!
I'm always drunk and baked when I'm fishing. That would have freaked me out.
I like to river fish in waders on a bit of shrooms. So peaceful and relaxing. I love it. Being stilk for long enough and seeing fish swim past you is so great. Even if I dont catch much or anything at all I still have a good time. Joints and a few beers hit the spot too. Just depends on what im feeling
@@LemursManLemurs1 I did a quarter ounce of shrooms and went to the zoo. It was awesome. The animals were talking to me, telepathically. lol
@@kerbygator yeah thats heroic dose my friend. Fishing id usually just eat about a gram. Still had to be able to tie knots and shit lol
@@LemursManLemurs1 I had to wear sunglasses all day. I was geeked. I couldn't quit grinning. My eyes were solid black. lol
@@LemursManLemurs1 We did LSD and went fishing on Bull Shoals Lake, in Arkansas too. That was awesome. We rented a houseboat for a week and brought some LSD with us. We put the fishing poles up about an hour in. Too dangerous. lol Hooks flying everywhere. There was nobody for miles so it was cool. Brought fireworks too. Quarter sticks.
Those bubbles could have disrupted the buoyancy of the boat causing it to partially flip on its side or sink in an instant... even on sand or dirt, air from below will swallow whats above.
Bring a geigerconter next time, would be interesting 👍
I agree
Why would it be interesting? That's water used for cooling, not radioactive at all. Do you really think there's a nuclear power plant just pumping nuclear waste into a body of water like that? Are you dumb?
I would think buoy or warning sign would be there, especially if this is Lake Erie and people ice fish around that spot.
I would’ve thought there was a huge sea monster below me about to swallow the boat whole
I wonder how much noise a Geiger counter would've made
None.
I definitely would’ve been spooked too. 💀
I seen you flinch! 😂 i would have been on the floor! 😱
100% need buoys if thats the spot the air ir whatever always releases into
Sickkkk a nuke fart has to smell something special or smell-less but deadly
Man soon as I seen the air I was like yeah that boats goin down but it didn't. They think that is was happens in the Bermuda triangle, gasses released from the bed but on a massive scale. Sinks tankers apparently.
It would be cool to fish a nuclear plant reservoir but lord knows the second I put a line in a malfunction would happen
The structure you see are cooling towers does not mean the plant is nuclear could be coal fired I work at a coal fired plant in Ohio and we have a tower just like that used to cool water nothing more not a reactor or anything just steam coming out huge misconception LOL. You are seeing the discharge into the river warm water great for fishing as it attracts bait.

Goat
The good old cheating with the livescope. How about actually fishing and not staring at a screen.
have you ever been fishing on the river by a lock and dam when they lock opened up? I can imagine its a lot like that
We used to fish the shit out the bubble,, many hogs I've gotten in there, big whites too, luv the bubble
So terrifying they kept fishing the same spot 😂
Think I'd find a better place to fish, as there's that chance this could sink your boat & that's not going to be a good thing. You know the area so it's your choice & i hope if you stay you will be safe & lucky. When you catch something with two heads, 4 eyes & glows, get the hell out of there.
Hope you don't eat any fish out of that lake
Nice 💗
This perry or sandusky. I noticed they dont always have the bubble gping at perry
Put live
Scope on it
The bubbles of the discharge interfere with the mega live. I will be posting some under water drone footage of it here soon.
What plant was this. Looks familiar 🤷🏻♂️ not gonna steal your spot. Just wondering. I ain’t got a bit. Just a couple yaks and paddles. Usually bank fish the kitties. But that looks like shipping port stacks to me. Especially with only one running
Either Favis-Besse or Fermi 2. Fermi 2, for sure, has 2 cooling towers. I worked there for 10 years+
It's three mile island
Those bubbles were coming up the entire time. He was casting towards them.
Did it change the water temp. ?
Yea, it's warm water being pumped out of the cooling units at the plant. Probably sucking in cool water from somewhere else.
i'd be ok with calling it a day....phew
U can see where the waters being pushed up u kinda did it to yourself getting yourself in that situation lol shoulda been more observant lmao
That reminds me of being a kid n farting in the bath
i wonder how contaminated those fish are lmao. bros eating cancer fish.
Your pucky the boat didnt sink
Wow, where did this happened at?
yea I'm curious as well
I'ma guess NC. I live there and this kinda looks like a plant up here
Ohio
Well, it's not Fermi 2. I can tell after watching and noting the background. I'm thinking Davis-Besse.
@@DMiloOutdoorOdysseyof course its ohio.😭
Gee, you looked so terrified, eyeroll. Did you glow that night
What the fuck was that
1st off, why would u fish near a nuclear plant? I sure wouldnt be keeping amd eating the fish from there. 2nd of all, why is nuclear discharge being released into the water? That should be illegal
The water is simply used for cooling.
Are those serious questions?
@@blauer2551 this is the reason we still have coal-fired power plants! LOL
Ever heard of just fishing for fun? Catch and release is a thing.
Stay in your safe place inside Karen
Did you ever consider fishing next to a nuclear powerplant might not be wise?
There's no buoys signaling any danger.
@@lordcommander3224 there is a giant nuclear power plant right there.
Tell that to the people of crystal river Florida
@@user-uz7qi5kq8d and? I’m guessing this is Lake Erie. The coast guard says there aren’t any restrictions about fishing on the bubble. There’s tons of smallmouth that love that spot.
If that fermi.. there used to be bouyies saying no fishing along with alarms that would go off and then the coast guard would come out with guns and tell us to get outta there lololol . How times have changed lolol
Fermi 2
Wow that’s crazy. It’s there any signs 🪧 that warns people about the discharge?
