Spot on analysis of his guitar playing. He doesn’t go over the top for the sake of going over the top. He knows what I want to hear before I know. And this song is perfect. It’s what I call grown folks music. 👍
I have literally listened to this song 50 time and never listened to it thinking about the X's getting together. I always thought along the line of friends taking a "you can't go back" step and having that new part of their relationship. Thanks for the reaction and a new way to listen to one of my favorite Stapleton songs.
This song is totally about two people who are wildly passionate but theyve hurt each other so bad in the past because theyre toxic for each other but they cannot stop themselves. I've lived it.
And btw, this song has been sitting on Chris' shelves for like 10 years. I first heard it 3-4 years ago from a random video of him performing with his wife, that video is like 11 years old lol
@@davesmith3713He's written over 1,000. All of his pockets are full. This one is a particular favorite of Morgane's & she's been trying to get it on an album for quite awhile. Chris says, "She's right again."
I was raised on Country Music. This is beautiful. It brings back so many memories.I just found him with these type of reviews. I’m enjoying it. And yes, Tina Turner.
"WHISKEY SUNRISE", "THE DEVIL ALWAYS MADE ME THINK TWICE", "NASHVILLE",TENNESSEE, "WATCH YOU BURN", "MAGGIE'S SONG" & "WHEN I'M WITH YOU" ARE GREAT SONGS FROM CHRIS'S LATEST ALBUM "STARTING OVER".
🎸💯 Another hot one from his latest album Starting Over‼🔥 Hi Dave! I'm your new subscriber in Charlotte NC! I was "scrolling" by, saw you were reacting to THE LEGEND Chris Stapleton & "You Should Probably Leave" so I stayed awhile. Great reaction dude! I love the playfulness of this cut, too. There's just no such thing as a "bad" Chris Stapleton song, you know⁉️ 🤯
I think who you're hearing is Etta James rather than Tina Turner. She's one of his cited influences and once you hear it, you can't un-hear it. :) I agree that you should listen to "Cold," live from the 2021 CMAs. You may also try, "Fire Away," but you need the supporting video, which is aimed at shining a light on mental health awareness. It's powerful!
That's not what I hear. Navigating stages of a relationship isn't necessarily "toxic" I guess it boils down to one's personal experience. It highlights Chris's genius that it's specific but... subject to interpretation.
Added to bucket list:
Tina Turner singing "you should probably leave " ❤

"Grown folks music" that is a great way to put it!

Oh really? I guess song writers keep a lot in their back pockets eh? Great song.

Ah Etta James that could be. Definitely a lot of soul in this guys voice.
You gotta check out Ms Morgane!! You are my sunshine,
You should probably leave... First.
🤐
Tina Turner. You are right. I hear her in Chris's style. She'd slay this song.
The Possum Lodge Collection brought me here.
Can I ask... how are you related to Steve?
He's my dad.
Lol 😂
It's a song about a toxic relationship with strong chemistry.

tina turner is actually a great comparison, they both sing from the SOUL
