CRIMINALLY underrated song. It's easily my favorite Stapleton song. Everyone I've ever shown this song says the same thing...holy shit how have I never heard this? When a song can take you to a place easily and make you feel the emotion of it, that's greatness.
I think the production on the single really held it back. If they had put out this version, it would have been a hit for sure. They tried to fit it into the country pop radio vibe and it just didnt work, not for me anyway.

I think it's because the album version wasn't really that good. It think that version was a little faster with obvious arrangement changes. This live acoustic striped down version is fire. If he released this, I believe it would have gone further on the charts.
The last concert of his I attended in April, he sang this acoustically...by himself along with Either Way, and Whiskey and You. That was our treat during his band's break. My favorite part and my favorite songs. I love Joy of My Life...a CCR cover. He is brilliant at EVERYTHING!
One of the best songs by one of the best ever. This one would be fantastic with the beginning and middle and then he takes it to a whole new level for the last verse. That "Is it L.A. sunny or Memphis Blue?" line is beautiful writing.

Yes, that was the bridge & it is gorgeous. This song has some of his most amazing lyrics BUT......the volume on the video was way too low. I had a hard time hearing those lyrics!
