Talk about a rare song and video! This would be one. Thanks for the upload. This song I always liked has a slightly somber feel but is so classic english or european middle ages aura about it.IMO
Wow! I didn't know Brian Jones played the sitar on this. And even more mind blowing is that Johns is singing. I'll have to read his book to see what other gems are out there that I don't know about.
dang!! Didn't even know that Glyn could sing (and I don't mean that as an insult to the man)!! And Brian on sitar ... WOW!!! Whoever found this and posted it, THANK U!!
+Karia Vendetta ...he started out, as a kid, in two different choirs, becoming the lead at 11 years old.....it's what he really wanted to do, but "fell" into the recording gig at 17.
breadboyplaysguitar I have a ridiculous Stones collection with bootlegs and all and never heard about this record until just this moment, reading about it in Glyn Johns' book "Sound Man." Glyn Johns says it is friggin BRIAN JONES ON SITAR! "Sound Man," Blue Rider Press, Penguin/ Random House Group, 2014. pg 60.
Glyn produced our two singles for Decca one, Candy Man, was released but failed to make it for us because someone, unspecified, at Decca gave it to Brian Poole and the Tremolos. The other, She Said Yeah, was effectively lost but was found this year 2018 and has just been released by Ace Records London. I managed to get the all the original members back to make a video with me 78 miming to me 25 all good fun and spread the word you never know we might make it after all: -) Here are the links She Said Yeah th-cam.com/video/sjcKGcM0Rtc/w-d-xo.html Candy Man th-cam.com/video/GrArc-VcWkk/w-d-xo.html
Omegaman69 It must be a promo from Spanish television, according to Glyn John's book "Sound Man," Blue Rider Press, Penguin / Random House Group 2014. pg. 60.
After this i can't belive he has the right to critize other singers and musicians, he was once experimenting or even trying to be a singer , and he is not empatetic enough after that experience, even the worst singer is 10 times betrer than him doing it glad he turned doing other job ,but sometimes i just don't like his opiniones about other musicians and his talent after watching this i just laugh a litle bit,
Jerry MIcco It is not just a sitar. Glyn Johns says it is BRIAN JONES ON SITAR! "Sound Man," Blue Rider Press, Penguin/ Random House Group, 2014. pg 60. From a Spanish TV promo.
I hear a sitar. Not a dulcimer. And I actually play the sitar. And the dulcimer. The dulcimer does not have sympathetic strings. 100 percent, that is a sitar. And it is Brian Jones playing it. Source: Glyn Johns, who made the recording and sings on it.
Quite lovely. Brian playing sitar really makes this very special.
Glad to hear Brian Jones was playing on this he was definitely a genius
Big hit in Spain.
Holy cows! Glyn Johns, my favorite producer/engineer of all time! The best...
Glad to read that you enjoy this rare document
I was amazed to find out recently that Mr. John’s had something of a singing career of his own

Johns sounds a lot better than Mick Jagger on this song! I didn't know Brian was on this playing sitar.
Wow what a rare gem.
This is absolutely incredible. Thank you so much for posting.
According to Glyn John's new book this is Brian Jones on Indian sitar.
dang!! Didn't even know that Glyn could sing (and I don't mean that as an insult to the man)!! And Brian on sitar ... WOW!!! Whoever found this and posted it, THANK U!!

I must say this version is better than the Stones, and yes I know Brian Jones is playing the sitar.Excellent.
Thanks so much for posting
Who else heard about this from Glyn John's new book?

Ra Bob That's so cool!
Hear hear. Book is excellent.

I am actually reading his book now - almost finished.
For a singer he makes a great producer. After watching, this thank heavens he stayed behind the console
I thought he sang the song as well or way better tha Mick Jagger did.
@@rebeccahernandez3460 david garrick too
Is this the producer of The Beatles in Let it Be?
Yes
Yeah
Yeah! yeah! yeah !
Keep your day job, Mr. Johns.
I Like it.
I feel from watching this they should have cast him in Zefferelli's Romeo and Juliet. He would have fit in well!
number one in Spain and yeah Brian plays sitar
I wonder if Jones played the harp too since it's pretty high up on the mix. That has to be him on the recorder.
Procuro Like grains of the yellow sand. Alguém conhece?
Glyn made the right career choices. However full credit for not trying to adopt a mid-Atlantic accent and sounding English as tuppence.
Looks like Cillian Murphy here
Looks like Liam from Oasis!?!
good thing he stuck to producing!
Anyone else think he sounds and looks like Nico here?
Thought the same thing
It looks like an off air recording. Any idea of what show this was? Great find.

That makes sense, I can only find a Spanish release for this. www.45cat.com/record/sn20009
Very nice, But I like Mick Jagger's vocal on this song better.
Nice arrangement but don't give up your day job, Glyn.
Why do people who post these vintage rare videos feel the need to crop them for ' widescreen?😠😡😠
Shameful

I hear a dulcimer, not a sitar.
Jerry, it starts off with a sitar. You can hear it throughout most of the song.
Yes - now that I am hearing it on a better set of speakers, that is not a dulcimer. THANKS

He didn't have the voice, nor the charisma needed to be "the talent".
Charming!... but the song goes nowhere really.
