    I was born in Toxteh and left Liverpool many years ago it was the best decision I have ever made. Liverpool was never given a chance by the political party’s and Margaret Thatcher despised the city. Liverpool was on the decline and after the 80s riots it went completely downhill, both Conservatives and Labour are responsible for the state it is in today. It’s still smells of the old Liverpool. I did have some childhood memories but sadly I would never like to go back. The politicians have a lot to answer for.

      As much as I despise politicians, bureaucrats and political parties I would haver to disagree with you. People destroy themselves and everything around them if that is the path they decide on although politicians of all stripes promote envy and jealousy...........ie: vote for me and I will make your rich neighbour pay leaving out the part of course where they skim off the top for themselves.
      Watch this clip of Morgan Freeman being interviewed by scumbag Don Lemmon..........interview starts at minute 1.26.
      Underneath all the lipstick on the City of Liverpool these days lies the same old tired attitudes of envy and jealousy.

Even as a fairly young man at the height of his criminality he was very well spoken and extremely committed to his political ideals. Really makes you wonder what he could have been and done with his life had he been given more positive influences and opportunities as a youth. Shaun would be great if you could get him back to speak more on his politics and time as a community leader, and how he sees the situation now.

    I was serving 11 years at Rye Hill before it became a nonce jail and met a black lad who I become friends with as we're both scousers. He was serving 17 years for armed robberies. We where both working in the kitchens one day talking about the Curtis Warren book 'cocky' I brought Micheal showers up as he's mentioned in the book and this lad would know more bc he's from Toxteth, and asked him whether it was true that his mother was killed as a warning to keep his mouth shut as the book says. The blood drained from his face. He pulled me aside as other people where around. It was him who knocked down his mum when he was juvenile! He told me it was a stolen car, he was driving around sefton Park and his mother just stepped in front and it was a total accident which I believe 100%. Apparently, no retribution was sought, as he was a juvenile i suspect. I asked him if he went to prison for it as I know he was arrested for it but he never. I never pushed it further bc I could see it was heavy for him, so I dont know if his youth prevented it or whether he denied it. I still class him as a good lad and mate, and we met up a few times once we was both out.
    But I felt gutted when I heard Micheal say his mother was killed the day after he was sentanced.
    This is the first time I've seen Micheal Showers in an interview and I'm taken aback by his poise and dignified character. Big respect to him.

    For those people watching who think this is a boring interview, what you need to understand is Michael is a Wiley character because he knows that the government/law enforcement would love to have him banged up again. He's obviously very well, " Self educated". Michael's Problem was, he was becoming very popular within Liverpool 8 and was trying to put the youth on a smarter path, the government/law enforcement didn't want that, that is why he was stitched up/falsely accused of tbe powder charge. Michael was no an angel but was simply becoming to popular and if he would have succeeded in teaching the local youth to calm down the government wouldn't have been able to fill their prisons, which would have cost the corrupt legal system millions and they couldn't have a blackman messing with their money, it's that simple. Plz don't jump on my comment saying, " Michael Showers is this. Michael Showers is that". On Merseyside, we know who Michael is and we know of his past. Like i said, Michael is no angel but he's never said he is.

    • @peterarmstrong6730
      @peterarmstrong6730 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael Showers is to long in the tooth to come onto a platform and start talking about his past glories. Anyone who'd been falsely accused and found guilty knows the government would love him to die in prison. Decent interview tbh

    I first met Michael in 1963. I was 15 and the youngest in the place: Everthorpe Borstal, Yorks. He was 17.
    The place had plenty of rabid sadistic racists, and one in particular used to call Michael a "black bastard". Still remember his face and name. Michael used to tell me about "the Chants", Eddie Amoo, Nat Smeda, Okinio? And we played the piano (he sang) which was in a room not far from his ground floor cell. Made me laugh. He had kind of reddish hair, and called himself "a throwback", not sure if he'd say that now though. Well spoken even then. Told me why he wanted good articulation. I'd already been locked up for quite some time when he arrived, and got released well before he did. Often wondered how he managed. I lived at the top of Upper Parliament Street, used to score in a pub by the Greek church, just off Princess Road, and bumped into him on two occasions: the first time, he came running up the stairs from a basement youth club in Upper Parliament Street, told me something which I would never repeat. The last time I saw him, it must been around the time he had that community job - was in a little local shop, by Stanhope street, we stared at each other, but I said nothing, because I wasn't sure if it was him. But it was, and he kind of recognized me.
