  • Parts lists and sponsors in description:
This video is a complete walk through of all the things that were done to plate the frame of the pickup. There are more parts that will get modified in later videos but the frame is plated as a just basic cover. In the video we explain notching the weld face, explain why the whole plate doesn't get welded to the frame and show you how the plates should sit on the 1947-1955 frame. As always we make these video to help as best we can. We are not people that specialize in video editing or cinematography. That is why everything is rough cut and in first person. If you have any questions or comments please leave them in the comment field and we will answer you as soon as we can. Thanks for watching!

For those hard to reach spaces you could have tried spray on rust converter. I know this video is old, and you are way past this now, but if you have a situation like this again then try it. Personally I have never used the rust converter spray, but have seen several videos where it was used.
I started with your video on installing the front suspension, so now I am watching from the beginning of this project.

I have used rust converter. I am not a fan. It works for minor stuff and places with no way to reach it. If you can get to it, it's better to remove it. Glad the videos are keeping your interest. Right now, these videos don't go much past the suspension. This project got back burnered because of 4 other cars we plan to flip. The commander is the current project. The 53 is under a tarp and on a trailer. We will finish it though, it's for my wife. She will keep pushing me to get it done.

I maybe missed it somewhere but are you frame plating to strengthen for a bigger motor?

The plan right now is for a 350 4 bolt with a 350 auto trans. This would be a lot more power but plating also strengthens the frame. These originally had front leaf springs and we are converting it to coils with control arms. All the new components could cause the frame to twist without it. Thanks for the question, hopefully i get back to work on this one soon. I still have to install the front and rear end.

      @@SKPcars I would go with a 700R4 transmission over s 350.

@David-rx5eo I'm trying to avoid the vacuum needed for the 700r4. Otherwise, it is far better transmission. The 350 doesn't need it because it has no overdrive.
