Look at all that time the foyer portrait used to hold in default for! That often now starts changing before anyone has gotten in! A nice throwback though, the version many of today's adults would remember from their childhood!
Amazing video! It captures so many details. The queue looks very unkempt and overgrown. I guess the late 90s was when the WDW team abandoned Walt's "we'll take care of the outside" approach.
Yes! I remember this! The thing I remember The most is where in the loading area there were no pictures they were all in the hallway leading to the library!
10:26 Smurf bride!!! Even tho her hair is weird and distracting, she still looks scary in this lighting. She surprisingly looks friendly with lights on though!
Thank you for uploading this! Wish there was a way to enhance it to hd or something. I’ve been curious about the big spider room… I know they were taken out at some point but I remember them from the early to mid 90s and being freaked out by them as a kid! Also I love seeing the old way of how they did the ghost in the doom buggy effect! I’m not a fan of the cgi effects they do now…
It actually looked that way for almost a decade - from the time the front gate was installed in the early 90s until Fastness came to the ride in 2002 or so. It gave a nice "hey don't come in here" vibe to the place.
@@Foxxy999 Of course. I was just pointing out how the gate is always open due to the Fastpass/Lightning Lane addition. Older footage of the exterior isn't as common as today's footage.
The biggest upgrade for this ride was definitely the Audio. Say what you want about the other changes but the audio here was pretty rough. The sounds during leotas seance, struck before she finished talking. The ballroom music sounded too low and sped up. The graveyard scene was too loud in some areas and none of the audio was in sync properly for that scene. The present day version is very impressive with its audio.
Do you have a contact? He sent me the video on VHS in the late 90s which is where I got it. It had been so long I had forgotten who it was from and I’d like to make sure I restore those credits.

@@Foxxy999 sadly I think Brian passed away during the COVID epidemic. I have tried to email him on both of his accounts and have not received any response from him.
@@odinson81 :( Awful. I lost a few Disney contacts that way. Are you willing to share his last name (if you have it) so I can at least get the credit where it is due?
Back when disney cared about its guests and strived to make the most amazing attraction they possible could. Now we just have marvel and starwars crammed down our throats and men wearing dresses on main street. Sick of the world we live in.
This attic was so much better than how it is now.
The old version was way more effective and sinister . I miss it , even the smell.

Back when they let the howling dog actually howl.

this is disneyland, dude, not wdw.
@@GODCONVOYPRIME No, it's Florida WDW.
The Florida Mansion fell into total disrepair in the latter half of Eisner's tenure. I hear this was the case for many Magic Kingdom rides at the time

Remember going on this ride in 1998 for the first time; was only 6 and a half (or 7, depending on what time of year) years old at the time.
They removed the jump scares in the attic room. Still a great ride 👌. I just wanted to know if anybody noticed
You should buy my book where you can read ALL about it: www.amazon.com/Boundless-Realm-Explorations-Disneys-Haunted/dp/0993578926
Absolutely awesome video for that time period. Also, go to that trouble and still get a Doombuggy with poor sound!

Way before Constance moved to the attic scene in Disney world one of the haunted mansion
After the 2007 revamped 5:10
Insanely rare footage of the front gate actually being closed.

Oh the Blood Red Rose 🌹
am I the only one who noticed that the ballroom music was faster than now and the key was higher? 9:38

I've seen this video before. My friend Brian from NH burned it on dvd along with a few other videos 10 years ago

I despise these cast members. They're mistaking volume with storytelling. So obnoxious.
