    Hi from Italy!
Soooo I’d like to give you some insights from a native italian
-Giannina in Italy is actually more of an old lady’s name.
-Valentina, Ilaria, Noemi, Silvia and Bianca are quite popular here
-Bianca means pure but literally translates to white.
-You absolutely nailed the Elena and Normi pronunciation 👍🏼
-The right italian spelling for the city Sienna would be Siena
    - And finally Miucchia is pronounced with a hard “k” because the “ch” always makes the sound “k”
    Always love your videos ❤️

@@SJ_Strum I think you just got the spelling wrong, the way you pronounce the name in the video it's right but you'd have to write it "Miuccia" which is a variant of "Mia" that literally means "mine".

Hmm I'd love for these names and meanings from indigenous cultures to be shared but as someone who lives in NZ with a Māori connection, I'd be worried that these names could be used out of context and without full consideration of what these names mean. I just hope for respect to be shown to our native peoples cultures and that we do not take the meaning away from their precious language.
Direct translations to names such and my name, Rebecca in Māori is Ripeka, is obviously a different situation as they are translations to English names.
The use of names which have a tie to the earth with all living things or spirituality such as Nīkau (a native tree) or Anahera (Angel) or Tui (native bird), I fear that these names can be used with disregard of culture and may only be used for the 'cool, unique-ness' of the names, especially when used in countries other than NZ.
I just want to make those who see this aware that these native names come from a precious language and these should not be torn away for style purposes that can disregard their meanings and if you are looking into using native names, to understand why you are choosing this name and what the language means to you. Please do not take more than what already has been taken from these communities.

@@rebeccamjatkinson I believe SJ tries her best to share multicultural names with respect and brings awareness to the culture, meanings and origin, anyone could find one of these names online and decide to use it without knowledge. Such beautiful names should be shared don't you think? 💕

    • @rebeccamjatkinson
      @rebeccamjatkinson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@darlenet3633 I don't doubt this youtuber would share cultural names with any disrespect or disregard, it is those who watch and decide to take these names without will to understand.
These videos are very 'trendy' name videos. I am only here as my sister is having a baby and was showing me some of these.
Of course these names can be found online and anyone can use them if they so desire but I just hope that they wont ever be misused. I felt the need to be a voice if reality that these names hold great mana (power) and especially for the Māori culture is very spiritual and connected.
This is obviously a touchy subject due to the controversy it can stew (which I hate to participate in but I had to say something). I personally believe that these names should be used by indigenous people only and their descendants. It belongs to them.

Elena means light and it sounds pretty either way :)

Could you please do a baby name video of names which suit the baby of an interracial couple? Something that sounds generally ‘exotic’ but easy enough for people to pronounce? Our relationship is English/Indian(Hindu) and even though we aren’t at the baby stage yet I can never find anything that would even remotely fit! Love the vids ❤️

I fell in love with the name Silvia when you mentioned it. I've always seen it as Sylvia, but for some reason Silvia changes it a whole different mood. I LOVE it.
    .
Also today, I came across the name Maevyn for a girl, and I immediately thought of this channel's love of the name Maevery and Maeve, which are both beautiful names. It is pronounced like Maven (which is also a pretty spelling in of itself and could be a girl's name or boy's name), which means expert or specialist. I love this strong meaning and the spelling and the hard V sound followed by the soft N. I was so excited I would just like to share!
