I actually named my baby girl Ezra Grey 😻 it was my initial “boy name” but my fiancé didn’t like it, until we found out we were having a girl I brought it up again and he loved it.
We named our daughter Theo, it suits her so well and we love it. It has been pretty divisive among older people, but it was actually in the top 1000 for girls in the 1800s, which is interesting!

i love so many traditionally "masculine" names used as female names: Wyatt, Elliot, Monroe, Ellis, Rory, Reese, Wren, Channing! when i was young i loved names like Devin, Carter, Riley, & Carson for girls. But when she was born (after many years of fertility treatment) it just fit. Luca in Hungarian is a girl name, and always was 🤔 Interesting 🧐 it means born at dawn. Also we pronounce it very differently. ( L is simple like look, u like the end of through, C is like Tsunami, A at the and is like..Atom..or Aragog from Harry Potter) And I also love Jasper for a girl! But it’s my surname :D well the Hungarian version is.
A suggestion for next week's list: variations of traditional names. These could be used as middle names for example if you want to honour a relative, you could take their traditional name and use a more modern variation.

When Ezra started to become popular in the uk I was so shocked and confused that it was being used for boys. I am from Germany and to me that name just sounds like a pure girl’s name. Also a lot of people here with Turkish heritage are called Esra and it’s 100% just for girls. So it’s no surprise for me that Ezra is now being used for girls as well haha it makes perfect sense to me :)

Graham is very much a males name to me, possibly because it is on of my uncles names. My angel baby was going to be Spencer, regardless of their gender. Spencer Terrence Edmund for a boy or Spencer Ellen Marie for a girl. For us Spencer was actually continuing our surnames' as first names trend (we had Mitchell and Preston already), however it is recognised as a boys name in Australia (where I live), and still considered taboo as a girls name.

I did not know about Alison. One of the names I forget is originally a male name is the name Shirley. (I think Charlotte Bronte was the first person to use it as a girls name.) Evelyn is another favourite one too. Also Lyndsay/Lindsey/Lindsay. The current speaker is a Lindsay Sir Lindsay Hoyle. Hilary is a mixed-gender name too. The male Hilary Benn. Both Lyndsay and Hillary I associate being female names and yet they are also used as male.

So a family in the US that had a reality show back in 2010 had a daughter and they named her Eliot. Then in 2010 they had quintuplets (hence the reality show). They were named Jack, Ryan, Britton, Lila, Brooklyn...Jack was the only boy.

I love Forest and Elliot for girls names. One I like is an old Irish name Ailbhe which is anglicized as Albert or Elvis for boys or Elva for girls. I think Jamie Dornan named one of his daughters Elva so I'm surprised it's not more popular atm.

I’ve always loved masculine names for girls, but that might be related to my being trans and always wanting to ditch my super feminine name for a more gender neutral or masculine one. One name my sister decided to not use after she learned the meaning was Seth. It was her "rainbow" pregnancy and she read that it meant replacement.

Ellie from Scrubs is an Elliot(t) as her dad wanted her to be a boy. Vivian, Sydney/Sidney and Hil(l)ary were all originally exclusively male names.
I LOVE traditionally male names used for girls. Usually if I think a name is a bit ugly or geeky for a boy I'll love it and think it's so cool for a girl...I'm not sure why!
Wyatt and Dylan are perfect examples of this for me. James I think sounds nice for a boy but indescribably cool for a girl!!

Lisa Marie Presley has a girl named Finley. Actually she has a great name. Her name is Finley Aaron Love. Two “boy” names. Aaron is Elvis’s middle name, and Love is his mother’s middle name. She is a twin, and her twin sister is Harper Vivienne Ann. She has two older children Danielle Riley, she goes by Riley as her name, and a boy named Benjamin Storm(he committed suicide last week, 27 years old. Let’s all send good energy to the family). Graham is very much a males name to me, possibly because it is on of my uncles names. My angel baby was going to be Spencer, regardless of their gender. Spencer Terrence Edmund for a boy or Spencer Ellen Marie for a girl. For us Spencer was actually continuing our surnames' as first names trend (we had Mitchell and Preston already), however it is recognised as a boys name in Australia (where I live), and still considered taboo as a girls name.
I’ve love the names Jude, Adan, Drew, and Evan for girls!! I don’t think that I will ever use them but I can imagine both little girl and grown women having these names

I did not know about Alison. One of the names I forget is originally a male name is the name Shirley. (I think Charlotte Bronte was the first person to use it as a girls name.) Evelyn is another favourite one too. Also Lyndsay/Lindsey/Lindsay. The current speaker is a Lindsay Sir Lindsay Hoyle. Hilary is a mixed-gender name too. The male Hilary Benn. Both Lyndsay and Hillary I associate being female names and yet they are also used as male.
One of my favs which i saw on call the midwife is Aubrey. The male police officer (sergeant woolf) is called Aubrey and it’s now at the top of my boy list

What do you think about indigo for a boy, normally people will assume is a girls name but I think the “go” ending is quite masculine, the name is gender neutral for me and it’s just so cute to me for a boy name!
So a family in the US that had a reality show back in 2010 had a daughter and they named her Eliot. Then in 2010 they had quintuplets (hence the reality show). They were named Jack, Ryan, Britton, Lila, Brooklyn...Jack was the only boy.
I remember being shocked and confused when I heard a man called Ashley. I always associated Ashley/Ashleigh as feminine. 😅

Graham is a great name for a girl. When she is old she will be half adjusted to being called Grandma. Little kids usually say Gramma.

When you said carol I immediately thought of a name I recently heard the name Carys welsh for love. I think if you enjoy the sound of carol but want a unique name I think Carys is lovely.

Apparently the name Evelyn was originally a boy’s name, or at least gender neutral, whereas now the name is more suited for girls. But I think Evelyn would really suit as a boy’s name now!
