My great gradmother was an Evelyn and her sister was Marilyn. She switched her first and middle names around though when she married, making her Larose Evelyn. Then her daughters are Lynda and Rosemary. My cousin named her daughter Evelyn after her. It's nice to still have it in the family, especially now that she's no longer with us. We're American and here it's almost exclusively said ev-eh-lyn/ev-uh-lyn.

I work in the NHS as a nursing assistant and these names are all the names of my lovely 80-100 year old patients. I love them! And seeing how sweet and happy they are makes me want to use them even more.

My grandmother was Frances, her daughter - my (elderly) mother is Connie (who always loathed being called Constance, btw lol) and my angel baby girl was Rosie Frances (after her angelic great grandmother). That list was like ticking off names from my family tree. My Granny was Florence Annie and her sisters were Alice May (known as May) Gladys, Margaret (known as Peggy), Dorothy (Dot), Hazel Violet and Agnes. I'm 22 and single, but completely obsessed with baby names. I have a whole list of hopeful names, and absolutely adore your videos. I'm also quite young and naive, and used to not like the idea of naming children after family members (especially Jr's or Fifths or whatever). My mom gave both my twin sister and I the same middle name, her middle name, Ann. And I used to think that I would never pass it on. That I wouldn't use a family members name unless it was a few generations old or something. Unfortunately, a few months ago, my mom unexpectedly passed away, and now the only thing I can imagine doing is naming my first daughter after her. Passing our shared name along. I don't know what made me never want to do that before - honoring a loved one is certainly never a bad thing. I don't know why I really wrote all of this either - I guess maybe to say: definitely pick names that you love, but also don't be afraid to pick the names of those that you love. One of my grandmas was named Jean and my other grandma was named Mabel. Mabel was born in 1924! Jean was born in the 30's. I'm lucky that I have those names in my family so I can use them with my future kids one day! I love family names as middle names
I had my little girl in June and her name is Vera Joan. We didn’t know she was a girl. In fact we thought she might be a boy and was going to be Allen if she was a boy or Alice or Mavis if a girl until few weeks before she was born. My other half changed his mind on VE Day that Vera was his favourite and kept calling the bump it from then on and she would kick like mad. Joan was always going to be her middle name after her great nana (her dad’s side). Vera was always in our top 5. I loved Vera Lynn as she meant a lot to my family especially my great uncle in the war. He said she gave them hope. Which I think is very much in need for us all atm. :) Plus as a singer myself it was a good choice. It has grown on me over the last 5 nearly 6 months. I was 12 days over due when my daughter was born. Vera Lynn passed away on the Friday and I sobbed the whole day. She had been on the tv a lot over the weeks before my daughter was born. My little girl popped out on the Sunday and I looked at her and we knew she was Vera. I read Vera was in top 5 a few years ago In Sweden is that true? I love most of these names tbh. My gran was Margaret and my granny was Hilda. My little sis is also called Sylvia she was the only one we knew growing up. :)

It’s apparently become quite popular in some Scandinavian countries. Just hope that it doesn’t become to popular like Evelyn has worldwide especially in UK and Oz. Lol. We loved that name years ago, but it became to popular over last few years. :)

Hazel and Eleanor were my top 2 when I was pregnant with our first (who is Rachel), but my partner veto'd them. I feel like Hazel is too close in sound to Rachel to use as a first name, and Eleanor didn't feel right when I was pregnant with our second (who is Mackenzie). We may or may not have third.

I have wanted to call my child ivy my whole life. I am called holly and was born on Christmas Day. My great grandmother passed away a few days before I was born and she was called ivy. It is such a beautiful family name for me. I am a few years off having a baby so I really hope it starts to decrease in popularity!!

That list was like ticking off names from my family tree. My Granny was Florence Annie and her sisters were Alice May (known as May) Gladys, Margaret (known as Peggy), Dorothy (Dot), Hazel Violet and Agnes. My Grandma was Irene and her sisters were Marjorie and Elsie. Two of my Great Grandmothers were Amy Gertude (who had a sister Nellie) and Alice. Dad's cousins included Sylvia, Doris and Frances. About 15 other names represented as wives of cousins or Great Uncles, as well as many more being friends they all knew. I think I need to go a generation further back for me to start thinking of names as vintage probably because I knew many of these names in my life time

I'm 22 and single, but completely obsessed with baby names. I have a whole list of hopeful names, and absolutely adore your videos.
I'm also quite young and naive, and used to not like the idea of naming children after family members (especially Jr's or Fifths or whatever). My mom gave both my twin sister and I the same middle name, her middle name, Ann. And I used to think that I would never pass it on. That I wouldn't use a family members name unless it was a few generations old or something. Unfortunately, a few months ago, my mom unexpectedly passed away, and now the only thing I can imagine doing is naming my first daughter after her. Passing our shared name along.
I don't know what made me never want to do that before - honoring a loved one is certainly never a bad thing. I don't know why I really wrote all of this either - I guess maybe to say: definitely pick names that you love, but also don't be afraid to pick the names of those that you love. Happy baby name picking!

I also wanna honour my parents in my future kids middle names, though I'm gonna choose names with the same meaning - which could be lovely if you have 2 or more daughters and don't want to give all of them the same middle name, but still want to honour your mother somehow (so for Ann, Amara, Carissa or Sena could work) 🙏🏻❤

One of my grandmas was named Jean and my other grandma was named Mabel. Mabel was born in 1924! Jean was born in the 30's. I'm lucky that I have those names in my family so I can use them with my future kids one day! I love family names as middle names
I had my little girl in June and her name is Vera Joan. We didn’t know she was a girl. In fact we thought she might be a boy and was going to be Allen if she was a boy or Alice or Mavis if a girl until few weeks before she was born. My other half changed his mind on VE Day that Vera was his favourite and kept calling the bump it from then on and she would kick like mad. Joan was always going to be her middle name after her great nana (her dad’s side). Vera was always in our top 5. I loved Vera Lynn as she meant a lot to my family especially my great uncle in the war. He said she gave them hope. Which I think is very much in need for us all atm. :) Plus as a singer myself it was a good choice. It has grown on me over the last 5 nearly 6 months. I was 12 days over due when my daughter was born. Vera Lynn passed away on the Friday and I sobbed the whole day. She had been on the tv a lot over the weeks before my daughter was born. My little girl popped out on the Sunday and I looked at her and we knew she was Vera.

I’m in USA and named our daughter Vera in September. Had no idea it was gaining such popularity. It was on our list a few years ago when we were naming our first born.
@@crystalkathuria4381 I’m in the UK. We had it in our list from near beginning of our pregnancy. :) It wasn’t our top choice, but it became that towards the end. It’s apparently become quite popular in some Scandinavian countries. Just hope that it doesn’t become to popular like Evelyn has worldwide especially in UK and Oz. Lol. We loved that name years ago, but it became to popular over last few years. :)
