I'm sorry y'all are experiencing this, but I do have the highest hopes that you figure out the best solution and be back on your trip in no time!!! the birds were so beautiful, glad tall stopped and filmed more of them. best of luck and the greatest of vibes to y'all both!! You've got this!!
Sorry for your problem and hope that there is an easy solution. If not life is great and we learn from our experiences. Best wishes to you both and Jenny
Editing keeps getting better! Awesome job! Watching your videos convinced me to make the trek from Cape Breton, NS to the Bahamas this coming winter with my trawler.
Y'all are so fun to watch. So young and care free. Just traveling around. If I was young again I would have loved to been able to do what y'all do. Wishing y'all good luck with the transmission. 🙂
At least you guys are together! Also, great thinking on the Towboat US membership too. Hope the repairs aren't too intensive (and expensive), and that you can get back underway soon.
Nooooooooo! I'm so sorry for your bad luck guys. I feel for ya. Bright side...Daytona should be an easy place to find parts. Hope your underway again soon
They say cruising is working on your boat in exotic places...hope it's a cheap fix. Love your vids, living the life I should have when young and hope to upon retirement!
I hope you get everything fixed ok on the boat. It could have been a lot worse, at least you were in protected waters where you could drop the hook. I feel for you!
I always wanted to do the ICW, thanks for taking me along. Love the spoonbills, a first for me. Ok I have a new bird to watch out for. OH THE PAIN. I AM SORRY. KEEP US UP TO DATE.
Boat transmissions are simple, and quick to rebuild. You two will be glad you have a new transmission for the rest of the trip. Shouldn't be a problem in a boating town like Daytona.
Hope you guys get back on the water soon. If you operate a vessel in unfamiliar waters, you will eventually have a grounding. I have my 100 ton license and in 1982 grounded my 125' crew boat the C-Valient in the Atchafalaya Basin. After repairing three bent props and new bearings I was back in business. You'd know if it was a bent prop or shaft by the vibrations. I think you and Sierra are what's missing in the youth today. A can do attitude and not listening to armchair captains. Keep on having a great time. Get your boat fixed and get back to making memories. Look forward to your next video.
You actually have a picture of our clubhouse at Hacienda Del Rio in Edgewater, just south of New Smyrna Beach. If you are ever down this way again, we are good for a dinner out.
Ouch I'm sorry to hear this happened to you guys love watching your videos . I'm looking to get a trawler myself to have fun with here in fort lauderdale
So sorry to hear of the troubles. Keep us up to date on the progress. Is there any wobble in the shaft? Did the prop get any damage? Waiting to hear the diagnosis.
Oh no! Just remember, it could be a lot worse. This could have happened when you were not so close to shore, like on your way back from the Bahamas, with nasty weather on the way. ;)
Ah that's why I love sailboats.... prop protected by a skeg and deeper keel... and yeah quiet when moving except when the auxiliary engine is on.... but then I wouldn't be able to go under those bridges like you do.... Good luck guys. Hope it works out.
I dock my boat at the marina before the bridge you went under in new symerna it's very beautiful and we often take the dingy to the disappearing islands
Oh noo ! I am no boat mechanic, but I had several VW Beatles and clutchplates were easy to change on them. If it is the gearbox bearings or even gogs it could be not that simple to fix. Wish you guys all the luck and hope it's a simple fix.
Wow, ok well hopefully it's not such a big deal,, this totally sucks , but you guys will get overcome👍👍👍👍, we where towed back from Bimini last summer on our thirty foot Rampage and I have to agree the nicest thing about the whole ordeal was the nice quiet trip back to ft. Lauderdale although it was a 6 hr. Trip😖😖😖😖😖. Wish you guys the best!!
man that sucks. that's the only problem with running old boats, they love to break down. we have a 1987 Tollycraft and recently had to pull one of the 100 gallon fuel takes out due to a hole the size of a penny...
There's a skate park in Daytona on the ICW right between the sail club and a park(has ramp and dock)... Anchorage right in front of it also... It's just south the Orange/Silver Beach draw bridge on the west bank...
Awesome videos! Thanks for sharing your summer! I live in Ormond Beach, just north of Daytona. Really sorry about the transmission problems. Hope that doesn't leave you feeling sour about Daytona! Would love to hear what your future plans or where you are headed. What is the destination?
I am born and raised in Sarasota, Fl... now live in Polk county, too many years......remember when i was young my dad said he wanted our family to live on a sailboat at Marina Jacks.....wish my mom said ok......lol Miss my water
Sorry to see this happen to you guys. Think positive. Hope it is not an expensive repair. Try and make the best of it. Do some sightseeing or whatever. I broke down in Port Royal SC. I needed to get towed by Sea Tow and needed a lower unit. I know how you are feeling. I am sure you know this but many marinas have loaner cars you can use. I ended up renting one from Enterprise cause they pick you up. Good luck.
Rebuild it or by a rebuilt one then at least you know what you got. look at it in a positive way! I'm a subscriber in york pa. you guys are living my dream! looking forward to videos in the future!
What size generator do you have? As a retired marine mechanic the kit for rebuilding those transmissions is usually not super expensive. For a velvet drive assuming that's what you have?........... It's about $400 + or - a few bucks. But that does not include any major damage to the shafts, housing or bearings.
Good luck on that clutch/transmission. If there's any good that came from it....at least you were on the inter coastal and not open water or worse high seas.
Hey guys, You know this could of been a lot worse, your boat could be sitting on the bottom of that nasty a$$ water. All that matters is that all three of you are ok. Stay Kool. Jeff
I accidentally clicked on this without knowing. Then clicked about a minute in or something like that. Saw Sierra skateboarding but didn't recognize her. Then I was "that looks like Jetty!" Funny.
Hey, new subscriber here, off the wall question for ya,,,, what kind of sunglasses are you wearing in the beginning of this video.? Not a real sailing question lol. Really enjoying your adventures.
I'm sorry y'all are experiencing this, but I do have the highest hopes that you figure out the best solution and be back on your trip in no time!!! the birds were so beautiful, glad tall stopped and filmed more of them. best of luck and the greatest of vibes to y'all both!! You've got this!!

I lived in Brevard County for over 30 yrs and your video made me homesick.
Yikes, that sounds like an expensive repair! Hope it is not as bad as it appears. Nice to see so many of your viewers are ready to lend you some help.
reading some of the Florida locals that have leads to parts and offers of rides/help....good on all of you...good to see folks help out
yes, they are awesome! we are so lucky!

There are probably allot of those old ford Leman transmissions around(used and rebuilt). Spend a couple days trying to find one. Best of luck, guys!

What's the update on the boat repair ? Hopefully it was a simple fix
Damn, yeah that whole area all the way to St. Augustine is always a problem with shifting sandbars. Hope you get her fixed up without too much issue.
I love your videos but the only thing that would make them better is if they were a little bit longer

I was born in '73 and I too feel worn out and in need of a total rebuild lol.
I accidentally clicked on this without knowing. Then clicked about a minute in or something like that. Saw Sierra skateboarding but didn't recognize her. Then I was "that looks like Jetty!" Funny.
Hope all is well
darn that sucks i hope you get everything worked out
fingers crossed you are back under way soon!! Tow insurance is definitely a cheap piece of mind I get every year.
Wonderful videos you have.
Been in your position having to be towed.... how did the docking go as that can be a handful with a disabled boat.
Ah man. What a bummer. Good luck
chin up! boat OK, all safe, helluva good dog....better there than way out someplace :()
Another amazon order for ya. Hope that helps with the transmission issue
Thanks so much Louis!
