Well thats cool. You sailed right past the slips where my live aboard was kept on your starboard and further in just past fueling dock on your port side. If you don't come in or leave the canal when tide is not all completely out you run the risk dragging your keel through some mud. Thanks for the memories.

That was the old Coast Guard station at the end of Great Bay Blvd in Tuckerton, NJ. Also the "stink house" right before that, an old fish processing center. Those waters and that inlet are currently Unmarked!!
I love your videos and have been following your journey to Long Island. I live close to the area where you got stuck and spend a lot of time on those back bays clamming. Those are some very shallow areas along the intercostal and a fine line between the channel and sand bars lol. Glad you got out with no issues👍
I would have come down to meet you guys if I had known you were stopping in Lewes.That's not too far from where I love ! Maybe the next time you travel you can have a map with times and places of where you may stop to have fans meet you 3 ! Of course Jetty too !
I bet that was a tense afternoon. no worries though. if you haven't ever done this you haven't been boating very long. I put a 43 foot boat on a sand bar in Charleston Harbor and had to wait about 6 hours to float back off.
When in doubt and with out local knowledge I always follow the channel markers. 95% of the time they are the way to go in areas that are heavily traveled

We ran aground and had to wait for the tide to come in it was down in Ft Myers decades ago. Looking forward to getting another boat in a year. Looking for a trawler.

The waters of the Michigan Great Lakes lap against 3,200 miles of coastline onto sandy Great Lakes beaches and rocky shores, dotted with more than 100 public beaches, and two National Lakeshores. Along the Great Lakes beaches are stunning multi-colored sandstone cliffs of Pictured Rocks on Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula, and the highest freshwater sand dunes in the world at Sleeping Bear in the "Little Finger" of the Lower Peninsula's "Mitten." I saw a story of a young english girl 19 years old that used to keep mobile phone in her bra.She got breast cancer and had to have one breast removed, please never put your mobile there. Love watching you life style & your updates are so awesome.
yes weather is up here too e 25 ,.. try using a towing eye centered behind the outboard a stainless clip with a small float works and keep it close up to the outboard to prevent fouling . then you can tow how hard you want and in one direction !

The only way for them to use the Saint Lawrence to get to the Great Lakes would be to go the gulf of Saint Lawrence UP the Saint Lawrence river with currents topping 5 knots plus at times. The better way would be up the Champlain canal system.
I know someone at Chris Craft back in the 50's they were testing a prototype cruiser in thick fog running full throttle all of a sudden the boat stops they get out and look they're on sand completely out of the water!
I touched bottom at Shagwong Point in Montauk with a Northwest wind pushing us onto the beach. I tried to get off by heading off the beach, but my partner was sharper. He said, "Go out the way you came in." which saved us and the boat. It was about 30 years ago, Unless Neverland spun around after grounding, you probably should have been attempting to tow her off from the stern.
Hay Cap'n do you have AIS transmitter on board, I just missed you and should have realized you were heading to Lewes after the C&D canal, last weekend was knaraly. Looked up the Jersey coast to see if I could find you on AIS Ship Tracker
Billy, read the chart depth.. blue was the deep water.. the gray is shoal.. also.. take an anchor out into deeper water with the dink.. and then kedge off.. back into deep water using the windlass. this is more powerful and steadier than pulling with the dink.. but you can do both at the same time if you have enough bodies.
I really enjoy watching you guys (I've done a few delivery jobs), a combination of Navionics route planner and google Earth/Maps lets me see exactly where you are and figure out what you are filming from the boat. Can't you get Navionics to sponsor you?
Now that you mention it sandy shoals are a good way to clean your hull. You really should be brushing it clean every other week or so. Weekly is even better. How often does Sierra get wheel watch or was it you Billy?
As someone who has also hit bottom a few times I know how you feel. What is the draft on your boat? Also what is your height for going under bridges? Good travels, be safe.

Last spring I hit a submerged log with my Chris Craft . Totaled it. The Nationwide Insurance adjuster was a jerk because he felt like it. Boats US wanted $3,000 to tow my boat to the marina although I had towing insurance, and the marina owner wanted as much money as he could get out of the deal. That was my last big boat.

Should of stopped in cape may and wildwood. Was just down there this past week.
