Very well made tutorial but you should add that it is recommended to use wired ethernet connections instead as wireless speeds are very slow on the PS3.

do you have a tutorial on how to upgrade / add hard drive when there isnt an original hard drive to copy from? My brother "misplaced" my ps3 hard drive so i have to start from scratch

Wrong... use irisman and you can use ntfs drives I've tested a 500gb and 1tb usb ssd and they work fine... transferred l.a noire (pretty close to 30gb) all in one file..it took about 45min due to the ps3 usb limitation
Connect both your PS3 and PC to the same hub/switch that is gigabit Ethernet. Or failing that use a loopback cable between both. You get max speed and it’s quicker than copying over USB.

7:24 how long it takes has *NOTHING* to do with your internet connection It all depends on the speeds of your local network aka your home network hardware, so your ethernet/WiFi connection and network switch/router

Followed the guide and everything went smoothly until I went to transfer a ps3 folder game to the GAMES folder it shows that it’s on the ps3 hdd but when I go to webman there are bo folders just a configure option and nothing is showing, when I check the hdd on multiman it’s showing that the game is in the GAMES folder but it doesn’t show up anywhere, if anyone can help would be greatly appreciated been trying to figure out how to ftp ps3 folder games for hours now. Another great guide! Wi-Fi is decent but I’m only getting 3mbps, looking at 45 minutes for 8gb! I can transfer to fat32 and then manually load faster it seems 😢
You can also connect your PC with the PS3 directly over Ethernet. Gets the file transer up to 12-13 MiB/s. It's probably gonna be similar if your PS3 is connected to the router via ethernet cable, but if that's not an option, PC to PS3 directly works great.

No kidding, it takes 40 minutes just to transfer a 4GB iso.

Yes but it's quite buggy when you transfer alot of files from HDD to NTFS or vice versa... As by my experience

on the actual ps3 settings, go to network settings, then "settings and connection status list", then ur ip address should be in there

Connect your PS3 and PC to the same hub with gigabit capable ports. Any modern broadband router should work.
