- I demonstrate how to repair a Phantom 3 Professional gimbal with a loose pan shaft set screw. In my case, this occurred after a crash that caused no other damage.

Dude you're a lifesaver! My camera had been calibrating completely to the left or right after a bad crash. The shaft in this video was slightly skewed away from that screw. Thanks!

Hey Nick, I ran into an issue on my P3S where the camera pointed off at an angle (i.e. after power up, it went through the orientation routine, then settled in pointed to the left). I tried calibrating the gimbal, calibrating the IMU and the gyro. Nothing fixed the issue, so I was swallowing hard and preparing to send it back to DJI for service. Then I stumbled upon your video. Following your fix completely resolved the issue. So I just wanted to write to say thanks. You saved me a bundle and a lot of time!

I live in Costa Rica and have been hmmm haaa ing about buying a new gimbal assembly and at least $20.00 in shipping it here from a slow boat from China taking a month. While watching your video (my drone was did the same as yours, smart move to show what problem you had to begin with) I noticed mine didn’t even have the screw in place. Went down to the hobby store and showed the guy and he put one in for me free of charge! Again thank you!

Fix worked perfectly. Alignment was important in my case as well. I was dreading having to deal with DJI on any level.

Easy to follow ... Helped me a great deal. I am a bumbling person when it comes to fine motor skills and I was able to fix it easy. Only difference is I moved the tab over from the top when I had the set screw out.

My standard does this exact same thing after I too hit a tree back in July! I haven't had time to look at it yet and decided to look on here and see what it could be. I will try to look at it after work and hopefully this is all that's wrong with mine. I just figured it was toast but this gives me hope! Thanks for this vide
excellent, thank you very much. I have not tried it yet, but my symptoms sound exactly like yours, albeit a little less severe, but it definitely makes you cringe hearing the motor crack like that. I hope mine is easily fixed also

Great video and brilliant fix, I'm glad someone made a video of it rather than just saying "little black screw go flush". But now on my P3 std I get a bunch of grinding noises when that same screw gets loose. I bought it refurbished from newegg a week ago and I've been hoping to not have to send it in but it seems I have little choice. Hopefully tightening a screw doesn't void the warranty.
Joey Depew I just bought a phantom 3 Adv from Newegg as well. Crashed after 3 weeks, into a metal fence. Having this exact problem with the gimbal
If the gimble isn't all that damaged follow the directions in the video and test it out. (Note: about directions be sure to make sure the arm you are adjusting is right in the middle so that it doesn't scrape against the base of the gimbal). Another thing worth mentioning is to use blue locktight for a better look on the screw (this little guy (screw)got loose for everyone looking up this video, and on mine Phantom 3 Standard, the screw gets loose again very easily.

Mine looked in line but i think the top part of the shaft must've just been slighty rubbing at loosening the screw and moving slighty up or down on the shaft did the trick. thanks

Woow, thanks... your a lifesaver😅😁 Before I bought my dji mini 2 like, a week ago, i borrowed this drone from a friend... eventually the drone crashed (i still don't know why, but it kinda lost connection 3 meters away from me) the gimbal error thingie is fixed now, so the only thing i still gotta do, is, the drone is making this anoying double beeping sound, so gotta do that now haha... luckily my friend ishnt to angry about it haha

I have noticed my gimbal always wanders horizontally making the horizon out of level , it happens to both sides , sometimes there is a sweet spot depending on the direction I am heading , I turn to the right it will be tilting and remain as that till I turn left then it will balance for a moment leveled and then again go out of level...
IMU and gimbal calibration done numerous time on perfectly leveled surface..., compass calibrated as well...
That screw you show in your video is parallel to the notch on the shaft and nicely tight...
can you suggest anything else ?

I have an issue after an accident the Flexible Gimbal Flat Ribbon Flex Cable broke and I ordered a new one and installed it once I install it camera because craze as it in your Video . I tried to do as you did no luck same issue I ordered a new Gimbal Roll Arm & Motor . I installed them but same issue camera is very crazy please let me know if you can help

My P3 Adv has fallen and I broke the Yaw arm and the ribbon. Replaced everything, the camera vibrates as in your video and the screen does not get pictures from the camera. Can it be broken? I have not yet been able to try the solution of your video, but the fact that they do not get pictures worries me ..... Thanks in advance for the answer.
Hello friend ...After one hard landing my P3 4K Camera never stay level I have to do a gimbal calibrate every time mostly twice to get the camera level....Do you know what is wrong and how to fix my problem? What type of screw is it?
It's a hex screw. Try using an "Allen" key. Really small. He mentions the size in the vid.

tried to follow this tutorial. instead, it broke it even more and the screw wouldnt go in. had to send it to dji after trying this tutorial for a month, costing me hundreds of dollars. please dont do this, it will damage your drone more. just send it to dji
