Getting the attention of a group is not a trivial skill.
Even when people have paid to come on a tour and have employed you as a guide to share your knowledge - getting folks to pay attention can feel like an impossible task.
As someone who worked as a camp counsellor for many years and then ran an entire summer camp program, I had to quickly find strategies for quieting down large groups of excited children.
Later in life, working as a tour leader, guide and experience host, these skills proved invaluable.
In this training video, we look at how to get people’s attention, how to quiet down chatty and disruptive guests, and what to do if you find the attention of your audience dwindling.
I offer seven strategies, all of which I have personally used in the field, and I guarantee that these same techniques will work for you.
After watching the video, I would recommend checking out this bonus PDF our team has put together. 10 incredible speeches by 10 incredible speakers is a PDF document containing TH-cam links to ten fantastic speakers in action.
Watch how these masters hold the attention of their audiences - and look for techniques that you can adapt to suit your personal style.
You can download this practical resource right here or by clicking the button above.
    Thanks for being here,
    Kelsey T

Thank you. I'm an interpreter for our Alaska Native Village, and get their attention initially with a cheery 'Ughuelly Saggan!' greeting, which means 'Good Morning!' then switch to English

Hi keslee nice to see videos on this amazing topic
I m a doctor by profession and have been travelling across my country (pakistan) for last 7 years from BALTORO glacier,k2,G1,2,3,nangaparbat,broad peak to ARABIAN sea, however I m quite enthusiastic about becoming a tour guide as this is becoming my passion.I wanted to ask which tourism companies recruit tour guides around the world?Although my main aim is to promote tourism in pakistan which is almost pristine and unspoiled because many people are reluctant to travel here, but in order to gain experience of diverse cultures across the globe it intrigued me to lead world tours
Can any one guide me please ?

I would recommend against using that "fox" gesture. It is actually used by the Turkish far-right, ultranationalistic, Islamistic group known as the Grey Wolves.
