Not only did we survive, but we formed Great Britain and even carved out a modest colonial empire. I like to imagine that the capital of this fictitious British Empire is Southend-on-Sea because that'd be hilarious, although I shudder to think about what the spread of Essex culture would do to the world 😂

They were a kingdom ruled by a viking elite, and therefore there was a movement for them to join the unified Scandinavia, but the Scandinavians were fairly weak and therefore ended up ceding much of the Irish lands.
They were actually all in a three way alliance that lasted for hundreds of years, until it fell apart because Rum got a PU over the byzantines and tried eclipsing them.
Okay wait, I’ve never actually seen the AI form the Sultanate of Rum. Honestly didn’t even know the Ottomans could spawn. Edit: hold on, just saw that mod. Sweet, that’ll help with my mega pains.
There also is a mod called "Historic Invasions" that also enhances mega campaigns, but because it adds so much stuff, much of it overlaps with other mods that enhance mega campaigns, but therefore it's a nightmare to set up and manage correctly.
It has basically no flavour, and basically zero geopolitical developments happen in the span of the game, and it always ends up with horrible or boring borders by the end.

In Vic3, very little actually happens. Some nations form and there's colonialism, then a state or two might be ceded between European powers, but that tends to be about it. Vic2 on the other hand has lots of flavour and railroaded things nations can do, resulting in interesting conflicts and political developments all the time, it also has world wars, which I feel is a very vital feature for this kind of timelapses, complete destruction of nations as Vic2 allows is a very important aspect of simulating the early 20th century. Converters for Vic3 are also kind of bad right. Vic3 is a good game imo, but it needs more flavour and updates in order to be able to simulate alternate history more interestingly.
They were disabled because I made realms much more stable and bigger realms stronger (in order to stop the entire map from exploding every 10 seconds) but this has the side effect of the Mongols being extremely overpowered and conquering the entirety of Europe and occupying it for centuries.
Slightly confused how the timelapse went from germany controlling all of europe to germany being regular sized at the end of hoi4, unless ive missed something.
They never controlled that land, it was simply under military occupation for the duration of the war and most of it was restored following the conclusion of the war.

The result was an Orthodox world in the union of the "Orthodox Entente" - Russia, Byzantium, Rum

I personally think that Stellaris is too different from the other games to add much to the timelapse, at least from an alt-hist perspective.
