This is better than the individual cables method by a long shot. Its a shame that the GC dual isnt readily available anymore but this is the best thing for internal mods
Did the Mod Yesterday, 7hours xD It was hell of a Fight to remove the Digital Port properly ^^" as Yesterday mentiond, love the Quality of your Products, and thanks for your Work
@Khatgar well if you have a job to do and you know it requires certain tools, its a good idea to get them beforehand so the job becomes easier. The worst part of this job is the tiny traces and vias on the underside that can be damaged making the mod not work.
Just ordered a 5 pack, doing these installs with the wires are a PITA lol, appreciate you for making this! Looking forward to using them! Thanks again -xpertxp
Your QSB is awesome. I ordered one and the shipping to Germany was fast. The install was Easy for me too. Now i am motivated to do the Mod on a DOL 101 in wires. I Hope you Made an QSB as well for that Model.
@Angryhelder Just put my order in as soon as I saw the notification email. Thank you also for refunding the shipping difference. I realized I needed the bracket right after I made the first order for the ribbon cables so I placed two orders. I appreciate the honesty. - Patrick
Question… I just finished up the third install with this ribbon cable and I’m a bit stumped as to all the solder joints are some of the best solder joints I’ve ever done in my life, but I’m not receiving video out of the HDMI port. I am receiving video out of the AV port, but the picture looks kind of metallically and I’m not getting power to my report the light is not turning on as well. Any ideas?
Send me pictures of the install in an email. TH-cam comments is not a support section. Unless I see pictures of the install it could be a bunch of things including damaged traces under the Digital Socket traces. I have a picture with continuity tests to see if any if those are damaged but you can't upload anything in TH-cam comments hence why I need an e-mail from you.
I see your gamecube is different to my one. Thats why the Pluto mount sit not flush on the board. On my gamecube there are Components between the digital and analog Ports
I just installed this in a PAL DOL-001 and I got no signal. Two orange LEDs on the Pluto - one static, one blinking. No idea what that means. Analog video works fine. Checked continuity, everthing is fine. Does this QSB work on PAL GameCubes?
Yes it does. I can't troubleshoot issues over youtube because I need to see pictures of your soldering as well as the bottom of the Digital Socket where tiny traces can be easily damaged when removing the digital port. If any 1 of the traces are bad you get no image.
@@conqueror222 it would be a tedious task and without a good temp controlled soldering iron and good heat retaining tip I would not recommend it. Instead get a hot air station and heat the entire area and pull the socket out while its molten.
The resistor on the 5v line is no longer needed? I removed my old Pluto install which had a resistor (unsure value), and I remember it from the old instructions.
I am waiting on Pluto to come back in stock and then design something for the DOL-101 which will be a little easier to do since to Digital Port to remove but the soldering is onto a chip with a finer pitch but doable with some experience.
@@Angryhelder Would you then mind me asking what kind of capacitors you used? Also IIRC the "guide" or suggestion was to add one to the switch, two to the leftmost capacitor and then a "bank" of 5 to the rightmost capacitor, why did you decide to go with, seemingly, a bank of 12?
@@Glisern These are 100 uf capacitors, the ones in the "guide" are 220 uf which for a ceramic capacitor is very expensive. So I used a smaller value which is much more affordable to get the same amount of capacitance from those caps in the "guide".
@@Angryhelder aaah, clever. Thank you. Does that mean that the block on the right is only for the rightmost capacitor? I assumes CP3+4 is for the leftmost, and at least CP1 is for the power switch? What would that make CP2?
@Glisern left side is for the switch, right side is where the 220uf caps would solder to. This is a simple mod to figure out and it's been copied of course from the "guide" maker but claims I made it wrong even though he copied it which makes his claims and logic totally wrong. Anyways just add the capacitance in whatever way you can to the existing caps on the motherboard.
@@tylerkike1776 If this was a wire install I believe all you need is that one point on the Pluto getting the 5V and I do not think you need to solder both of those together but a multimeter can tell you if both have 5v or not. You would also need to know if your Pluto board has the GCVideo firmware installed or it won't work.

Just bought some flex cables from you. Awesome product that makes this mod much easier.

That was the whole reason behind this mod, to make a PITA mod a little easier.

I plan to but no estimated time as to when I will have anything to show for that version.
perfect tutorial best one on TH-cam thank you for you work
Thank you, this makes the mod super easy besides the Digital Port removal which can also be removed with hot air.
Do you have an idea of when more will become available in stock? I would love to buy one from you
I should have more next week

Watching the website like a hawk. Fingers crossed, this is literally the final piece I need to make the ultimate gamecube. 🙏

What is he model? Also PAL consoles have a few more caps near that area.

Is 28ga wire thick enough for the 5v?
26AWG would be better, you can just double up on the wire this way there is enough amperage going through the 2 wires.
The resistor on the 5v line is no longer needed? I removed my old Pluto install which had a resistor (unsure value), and I remember it from the old instructions.
Newer Pluto boards have the resistor on board and no longer require you to add your own.
@@Angryhelder Thanks. I went back and read up on the original guide; it's any revision D or older that required the 100ohm resistor.

will you bring back the pico flex cable?
They are likely to arrive within a week.
Any chance you'd make the pcb for the clean power for GBA SP available?
As in share the files to have them made? No I won't share that one sorry. I've shared plenty of other boards on OSHPark.com

Did you soldered the red wire to the two 5v pins?
Yes, if you watch the video I solder the 2 wires for 5v and controller input.
I guess that’s why the board did not work for me. I only soldered the wire to one 5v pin.
