Awesome. Personally I absolutely love the BL2s lineup. I have the new 2wd bl2s rustler. I wanted it so badly when it was announced I ordered it straight from traxxas before my local hobbytown even had it in stock. Got the free BL2s battery and charger combo with it. What a steal for the price, only $267, shipped free to my door within 4 days of my order! 🤩 And last November I bought the 4wd slash BL2s. I’ve driven it like crazy. The 2wd rustler takes me back to the 80’s and 90’s style RC cars. It’s fun to drive and wheelies like crazy. What I like most is that you can be on the throttle 90% of the battery life and these brushless BL2s motors barely even get WARM. People can hate on traxxas all they want. Sure they’re more expensive than most other brands. But they’re parts are super inexpensive, and their part availability is second to none. Traxxas, back in the 90’s, when I got my first traxxas RC, the nitro sport, is who kept me in this hobby. I have all kinds now, traxxas, Losi, Arrma, associated, etc. Love em all and have shit loads of fun no matter what car I’m driving. If I didn’t have the 4x4 VXL version of the stampede I’d probably grab this one too. Great video, Mark.

In regards to your comments on the shocks and wishing they came with the GTRs... I would be happy if they just went ahead and started installing the Big Bore shocks on there trucks. I know they are essentially the same as the stock but they have all the necessary upgrades to make the stocks great besides not having an adjustable collar. Put the Big Bores on the 2s trucks and the GTRs on the 3s line and I would be a happy camper and I feel would give these trucks better values for the prices we are paying for them
That would be awesome. Even if just the Big Bores were on the 3S line, that’s still aluminum shocks, which I don’t believe Arrma’s 3S trucks have. The GTRs are awesome though. The difference in performance (with stock oil & spring rate) isn’t phenomenal, but it’s definitely noticeable, and the GTRs can be tuned much more than the Ultra Shocks
The lower body mounting looks so much better
The Stampede 2wd is hands down the best bang for buck on drive experience there is. I LOVE mine! (all 4 of them)

I prefer the VXL 4x4, but I need the clipless body mounts.
Always been a great truck. A friend of mine had one of they originals, and I had one of the XL5's when those first came out.

@7:00 I was lucky enough to get the new Maxx Slash with 2 batteries and smart charger deal. Definitely made it worth $700 in my opinion haha

Will the clip less body mounts fit on to an older stampede!?
Most likely since traxxas is extremely modular. If you go to their website they have diagrams of the older and newer stampede and you could see what you would have to change.
You’d have to get the mounts, but they’re most likely designed to fit directly onto the old chassis. They’ll probably release a conversion kit like they did with the Slash bodies when they went clipless.
Traxxas goes brushless on something and then markets it as an amazing new version.

Me too! I’m an OG RC car guy from the 70’s and 80’s. So I grew up with 1/10 scale 2wd cars. They’re more fun than the 4wd ones sometimes.

The big issue with the gorgon is plastic gears. They won’t hold up to long term brushless power, even a BL 2s would probably break them in around 50 packs or so. My big rock 3s lasted all of 12 packs.

@@nicko2222 no, they’re composite. They’re about double the width of standard 2wd transmission gears, but composite nonetheless. There is an aluminum input option but that is the only metal gear besides the internals of the differential potentially. ARRMA has a LONG track record of deceiving marketing. Their original cars advertised “tough metal geared transmissions” back in 2011-13. When they came out with an updated 2wd they advertised strong “composite” gears. That was a lie. They were a bit wider than the last gen, but they stripped very easily on stock brushless power. When the 4x4 3s line was developed they brought back and have kept the “touch metal gears” marketing panels on the box, despite it being intentionally misleading. With the 4x4 models it is only referring to the differential internals. No other metal gears exist but the pinion, which would literally melt if it were plastic. I’ve owned an original raider, v2 raider brushed, v2 granite blx85, granite 4x4, big rock 4x4 3s, and typhon 6s. The only one I still have now is the original raider for sentimental reasons. All the arrmas have failed me very quickly out of the box. The only real difference was when I bought the big rock 3s I had every expectation that it would fail me, and already budgeted in the $80-100 metal ring and pinion upgrade. After that the car served me relatively well. Put a maxx motor in it and kept it on 3s, took quite a bit of abuse on stock arms and driveshafts, but after two years and 4 slipper clutches I was fed up. If arrma were to make a big rock 4s I would probably buy and recommend the hell out of that. Center diff with hardened spines should mean the end of slipper clutch style failures, and the metal gears are ridiculously beefy for the scale. As it stands though, the 3s line is a complete joke, the 6s line isn’t much better with the taco chassis & bendy shock towers, & relatively small diffs compared to the old erevo and current sledge (however the sledge is overpriced as hell), but the gorgon I think is actually fine for what it is. It’s a cheap entry level RC. $170 rtr with a basic battery and charger isn’t far off from the $140 my old ecx ruckus cost my mom nearly 15 years ago. And it also had composite gears which themselves didn’t give me an issue until the differential gave out. I did have many other issues with that truck but transmission wise it was pretty solid for the majority of the time I had it. However there isn’t the slightest chance in hell I would’ve been able to upgrade that to brushless. The Gorgon is still far more advanced and durable than the old ruckus was, and if any car with a composite gear set stands a chance it would be the Gorgon, but I still can’t confidently say it’s an RC worth upgrading long term. Given it lasts for at least a year or until the brushed motor dies, whichever is longer, I think it serves its purpose of bringing people into the hobby. If you have the extra to spurge though, the BL2s rustler will jump you much further ahead into the hobby off the bat for $70 more. Now when the battery and charger promotions ends that’s a different story. Though I imagine that eventually traxxas will just start including that same combo with bl 2s and what remains of the xl5 cars and discontinue their NiMH production. At least if they were smart that’s what they’d do.

@@crazyrusty7688 they did a refresh of the bandit which includes the HD suspension upgrades and new bumper, like this stampede. But still brushed XL-5 system :(. I do think it's important for them to keep at lease one model that's $200 with battery.

In this day and age, there’s no reason in the world why this shouldn’t come from the factory 4 S capable.
Why should it be 4s? 2s is enough, especially for beginners on a lower budget. Not everything needs insane power and goes 500mph 🤦♂️
There’s no reason for it. It’s geared towards old school RC buffs and RC beginners. Everyone has to start somewhere and for young kids getting into the hobby something like this is perfect. There’s plenty of other options out there if your wheelhouse is 4s, brother. 😊 Keep on bashin 💪
