- A viewer had commented that Lenovo had a tiny PC that predated the EliteDesk G1 called the Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p Tiny. This tiny/mini has features that have carried on to future generations of computers.

I was the one that commented on this M92p computer being the first "true mini" computer.
Nice to see that you bought one.
Some notes:
1. The AC adapter is known to be called the "dog bone" because of its shape. It was also used for some Lenovo IdeaPad laptops.
2. Intel never made any quad core 35W 3rd gen CPU's, so dual cores is all you can install on this computer without exceeding 35W.
3. The wifi antenna might not be standard size. I know that the M900 Tiny has weird proprietary wifi antennas.
4. Yes, you can get a mounting bracket that has a DVD drive (and in some cases extra USB 2.0 ports) and lets you mount it to the back of compatible monitors.
Thanks again for pointing me to the M92p. Pretty impressive for a machine that didn't have much to compare or compete with.
Im putting together a elite desk 705 G4 35w with the Rx560 graphics card right now. I think after that i will try out one of these Lenovo's. Iv seen some really cool mods on youtube expanding the case and adding a graphics card. your channel has been very informative. Thank you for what you do!
Very welcome. Let me know how the Rx560 works out.
Why not, I own both, so far I like both.
My first mini was a Lenovo M75Q, I got it in a storage locker I paid $10 for, it even came with two 1080 monitors. I found this channel while looking up information on minis in general. I now have four HP minis, from a MP9 G3 to two 10th gen G6s, a prodesk and an elitedesk both built up from barebones thanks in big part to information and excitement I picked up on this channel.
I don't mind the focus on HP, but it is nice to see a Lenovo.
I got the 10500t for my Prodesk 600 G6 yesterday and put it together last night, its fan is so quiet that I thought it wasnt working.
Thanks for your input. Always tough deciding on going deep into a subject or going wide. Maybe we can all learn a thing or two from these non HP units. And I do love it when a fan is that quiet.
Thank you for this video. What electronic big chip is under the fan (@15:17) ? A GPU ? I don't remember seeing this chip on your HP Prodesk/Elitedesk Mini videos. Thank you.
That is the Q77 chipset - www.ebay.com/itm/253313992620
@@handmedowntech Tnank you. Where is it on HP Minis motherboards ? On the bottom side ? Thanks ?
I had a space G4 motherboard and checked it out - you were right - the SR404 chip for the Q370 chipset was on the back of the board.
Good detail review,
I have a question, @11:43 you talked about an adapter, what is the name of that adapter? I have been thinking to convert that too,
Thanks,
54Y9351 is for the USB port, 54Y9350 for DisplayPort, 54Y9345 - I think for serial port? Also check here support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/pd024061-system-service-parts-and-recovery-dvd-part-numbers-thinkcentre-m92-m92p-tiny-form-factor - then look at download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkCentre/m92_m92p_frulist_tiny_11132013.pdf
@4:28 Sounds like you're referring to a full-size USB-B connector
That's what they're called. The square end that goes into a printer, etc. Thanks. Now if I could also get used to the 3.1 vs 3.2 mumbo jumbo.
I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M700 Tiny with an I5-6500T, 8gb of DDR4 ram. Bought it for a seperate setup for our laser machine. It's pretty comparable to my HP Elitedesk 800 G2 Mini in terms of specs, I do like the front of the M700 Tiny though. They both have similar specs. I must say the Elitedesk definitely looks a bit better on the inside and is easier to work on, thanks to the semi-toolless design. Also with the expansion boards that have a connector on the Elitedesk versus a cable on the Lenovo Thinkcentre's. The Elitedesk is also more practical from the inside. But other than that these are machines. Bought it refurbished for only €40 at an IT Refurbishment site in The Netherlands. I did had to look for the model number on Google though, it came up with the Elitedesks otherwise. Definitely a lot cheaper than the Elitedesks here in NL. It was a one time deal though, and definitely less popular than the Elitedesk as I noticed. But still awesome machines for the price.
I now have two Lenovos. I like that Lenovo has a ton of docs and videos on their units, which is one reason I really like HPs.
@@handmedowntech So you really like HPs because Lenovo has a ton of docs and videos on their units? Wouldn't it be that you like Lenovo because of that?
Now you're reviewing Lenovo and not HP?
I will continue focusing on HP but viewers had also expressed interest in seeing some non HP units from the same era.
