For real I have overheard staff training another employee whilst I was checking out a store and they literally said “if you’re putting up these premium cars and see that it’s black and a 0/5, buy if with your staff discount and sell it on eBay. You’ll thank me” SMH. I also believe that in most of the UK chases never even leave the stockroom and are bought exclusively by staff. I’ve been in a store and listened to an employee training someone new and telling them at the hot wheels that if they put out new stock and “if it’s a black premium car, buy it on staff discount and sell it on eBay” WE ARE DOOMED to never find one : (
I found the very first black premium 0/5 chase, the Corvette C8.R from American Scene, just hanging on the pegs at Target. I think the employees and scalpers weren't entirely clued in to the premium chase pieces yet, and I think Mattel actually created an excess beyond normal chase quantities to stimulate interest. For a time I thought I'd be able to find any chase as long as I searched widely, but I have yet to see another one. I've since figured out chase pieces are just not worth the time and trouble.

I don't sell on e-bay or any internet site, I am the one who gets the premium chases M2 Johnny Light and greenlite I do leave hot wheels behind mostly. I sell at weekend fleas.

The black chase cars are the only "desirable" ones that just dont interest me. But only as they are black. I cant think if a worse colour for a vehicle. They just dont pop. Black does not reflect the light so any curves are lost. Why cant they make chase cars a candy colour?
This is actually super insightful. And I must say that chase cars aren’t in my top 10 for hot wheels “releases” too! You’re smart mate. Also means we don’t get caught up in colllecting expensive boring cars. Although truth be told neither of us would say no to a good deal on the LBWK skyline from mountain drifters 😉 💸
