Oh man I love how reliable you all are at comic pop. Right now we're in a hurricane in Florida but thank God for the light hearted moments like this upload. I'll celebrate my survival (hopefully) by watching it
I’ll always be impressed that no matter how small or limited the topic is, Sal will always find a way to get at least over an hour worth of conversation out of it
I love Tim's "It's never going to end" as well. Especially because it's also the genesis of one of Morrison's thesis' for their Batman run, "Batman and Robin will never die!", which is both hopeful and sad (and meta) in equal measure in the run.
This little series was my first real comic book reading experience and so it will always be special for me. Morrison's JLA remains peak comic book fiction. Nothing newer compares to it.
I love Sal's Grant Morrison impressions, but I love his Alan Moore impressions even more. You need to do more, more, more Alan Moore stories pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase.
I like that you've been doing a lot of arcs from iconic runs that aren't just the first arc lately (this, the second arc from Sandman, the third arc from New Avengers, the third arc from McFarlane's Spider-Man, the fourth arc from Snyder's Batman). It allows for some really interesting and unique episodes that are different from what you'd get if you just did first arcs and event stories.
Ethan: Oh, so he doesn't use boxing glove arrows. *Sal winks at the camera* 😆 If you know, you know! I remember how much I enjoyed this series when it came out. As always love you guys' work!
PS: If anyone's interested, there's a three-issue mini-series called 'JLA: Paradise Lost' by Mark Millar and Ariel Olivetti that follows up on what Zauriel did in between his introduction here and his later return to the main JLA title, and it goes into his backstory as a Guardian Angel who fell in love with the mortal woman he was supposed to be guarding, and left Heaven to be with her (but not before overhearing Asmodel's plans to overthrow the Presence, hence the Bull Angel Host following him to Earth in the first place) - it's actually a pretty good story in my view, yes...?
Grant Morrison clearly also showing that Wally West is faster then Superman, able to catch up to a falling flaming car, disassemble it and then to reassemble it closer to Superman before Superman could make it to the car
'This is the man who said he couldn't live up to his myth. He's wrestling an angel...' - still one of my favourite Superman moments ever, Blue or no Blue...!!! I was about 17/18 when this came out, and Morrison's JLA was my first real gateway to the DC Universe proper after reading John Byrne's 'Man of Steel' a few years earlier when I was a kid, and I honestly don't think it's really been topped since...
The only time the "electro Superman" thing worked creating poles on the moon to save it. And of course... "YIELD!" "NEVER!" "This is the guy who said he couldn't live up to his myth. He's wrestling an angel."
read an article the other day analyzing morrison’s oeuvre and i love the idea that their fascination/obsession with machines is a discussion of the nuclear age and the bomb
I just still can't believe Grant Morrison used The Key, and DIDN'T use the version with the regular-sized head and tiny body piloting a robotic exo-shell around. I still remember being floored by that as a kid...
Id be down for a series by Ethan where he just goes through dumb science in comics and critiques it and gives the closest possible alternatives that are possible with our current technology.
I'm not kidding, I just read the first story last week, and imagined right after how sal would explain it to Ethan and ben. I almost perfectly predicted how he talked about metamorpho's funeral! XD
Wow....I'd never in my life find a reason to look at a wizard mag I bought at a time where a BLUE Superman would be cool...thanks. Not sarcasm or satire btw. Thanks. From the great eye of Ian!!!
I was a bit disappointed that these stories weren't covered in their other Morrison JLA episode since they were in the same volume, but I'm thrilled they got a standalone episode treatment!
I read these stories as they were being released. I've always felt that Tomorrow Woman should have been in the comic for about 6 months a day had her own 4 issue miniseries so that the readers could have gotten to know her and feel like she was an actual character, instead of a plot device.
I have to admit that because I’ve never read T O Morrow’s name and only ever heard it in stuff like Young Justice I never realized that his name was tomorrow
First time with signal since Ian landed on us. Don’t know if I’ll have it for a while or if it’ll go out again still no power but we are thankful to be alive. Love you guys and thanks for always making me laugh
*counts number of seats* *looks up the the significance of that number* *raises eyebrows* 12 seats? A bit on the nose, Morrison. 12 Gods on Mount Olympus. 12 Animals in the Zodiac. 12 Apostles. 12 months in a year. What is with the number 12?
It is the prophet Elijah. 2 Kings, ch. 2: [9] When they had crossed [the River Jordan], Elijah said to Elisha, "Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken from you?" "Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit," Elisha replied. [10] You have asked a difficult thing," Elijah said, "yet if you see me when I am taken from you, it will be yours--otherwise not." [11] As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. [12] Elisha saw this and cried out, "My father! My father! The chariots and horsemen of Israel!" And Elisha saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them apart. [13] He picked up the cloak that had fallen from Elijah and went back and stood on the bank of the Jordan.
1:02:20 I know it's a different series. But there is an episode of TNG where the teleporting causes two "copies" of someone to exist. So, I'm with Bones on the teleportation debate, lol.
My geometry teacher in High School's name was Ms. Morrow. So, it is a real name... she said it was Scottish. She also said that her uncle named his kids Tim and Tom.
This issue in DC show us how Stupid OP ANGEL'S Really is. So imagine How Overwhelming powerful the Archetype Archangels Michael, Lucifer & Gabriel are!?? 🤔.
@@101Mant True, but also The Spectre was know to be the most powerful being second To The Presence. Nonetheless Lucifer Morningstar did stated that God give them the power great as his own/ The Presence nevertheless God forbide them to used that powers.

What is this the season of referencing Die Hard? Rick & Morty does Die Hard, Fantastic 4 is Die Hard themed, and now ComicPop is doing a book that has a Die Hard moment. 🤣🤣🤣
My main complaint about Grant Morrison’s run on JLA is that they write a battle that included Animech and Mangatron and didn’t have Kyle Raynor involved in that fight.
Buy this classic JLA story and more in this volume! amzn.to/3BXnhMn
O
5. I counted and it's 5 issues. Not 3. There are 3 stories over 5 issues.
Oh man I love how reliable you all are at comic pop. Right now we're in a hurricane in Florida but thank God for the light hearted moments like this upload. I'll celebrate my survival (hopefully) by watching it
Best of luck mate
I’m in Florida too
Good luck!
With all the hurricane fuss I forgot it was Back Issues day. It's nice to see the gang.
Wish you all the best just went through a hurricane and i hope you make it through.
Comic Pop covering some classic Morrison? We're eating good, folks.
I’ll always be impressed that no matter how small or limited the topic is, Sal will always find a way to get at least over an hour worth of conversation out of it
He has the gift of gab, it's his mutant power.
I always loved when Sal does his Grant Morrison impression
I also enjoy his Alan Moore impression.
my favorite is his Kingpin impression
Shocked that Ben recognized Aztek lol
I love Tim's "It's never going to end" as well. Especially because it's also the genesis of one of Morrison's thesis' for their Batman run, "Batman and Robin will never die!", which is both hopeful and sad (and meta) in equal measure in the run.
Damn didn't expect this one at all. The often forgotten arc of Morrisons run.
This week, the Justice League defeat the concept of if! Next week, the looming threat of when!
This little series was my first real comic book reading experience and so it will always be special for me. Morrison's JLA remains peak comic book fiction. Nothing newer compares to it.
Me too! I asked the clerk what I should start reading, he gave me this and WACTHMEN of all books
This episode couldn't have come at a better time, I've been having a rough day. Thanks guys.
When Sal pointed out Dr. Ian Malcom, the name on the badge was Brundel which was the name of the character Jeff Goldblum played in The Fly.
I love Sal's Grant Morrison impressions, but I love his Alan Moore impressions even more. You need to do more, more, more Alan Moore stories pleeeeeeeeeaaaaase.
We need more Salan Moore
You automatically know it’s a great backissues when Superman blue is in the story
This channel deserves such a bigger audience
Ben’s idea of putting a little deus ex machina in each dream and that leading to Batman figuring it out was a great idea.

Great job guys on covering justice league by grant Morrison this is such a fun story.
Superman Blue is back baby!!!!
Thank you guys for providing constant greatness with torturing Ben and Ethan.
Gotta love a new back issues when you get off work…..keep up the great content and wish you all nothing but the best!

Jesus Christ I have known of T.O Morrow since season one of young justice and I never realized it was tomorrow until now.
First ever comic/graphic novel that I ever owned. Confused the ever loving crap out of my 7 year old mind, and I loved it.
Me too! Seems like a random place to start but I was hooked by the weirdness and lore, and Morrison's JLA remains unequaled in my mind.

I somehow find Superman pushing the moon back into place with his bare hands to be more believable than the giant magnet moon
Oh boy more grant Morrison justice league
And now I have "he's blue and Green Arrow died" to the tune of I'm Blue stuck in my head 😫
He's blue and Green Arrow died

I love how ben went from not remembering which universe certain heroes and villains are to remembering and referencing all these deep cuts.
First glance: NEW EPISODE!!
Starting video: Oh shit.... Is that electric-blue Superman? (sigh)
I love how Key in the story exposits to the max about his increased power, and finishes with "Also, I have started to talking to myself..."

Appreciate the hard work fellas!! Makes wendsday batter overall. 🙏
Some of the greatest comics ever

I'm currently reading Morrison jla run so it's great this came out.
Hurricane here in Central Florida, I'm hurriedly downloading episodes for when the power goes out!
Stay safe George!
Superman: I blue myself
Funny how Morrison had Superman fight angels again in the new 52 action comics. I wonder what the fixation is. New mythology vs old?

The Key showed up in Justice League Unlimited final season (the one with the Legion of Doom).

It's the amount of mushrooms Morrison took before writing the story.
And was planning on taking afterwards
That Star Treks Scotty James Dooghan impression tickled my ass pink!
love ethan's shirt!
Barely related comment but, man, Katamari is so good.
Great video! Please consider doing the Hitman series, lots of opportunity to make Ben cry!
this was great!
It makes me so happy you guys know katamari !!llolol that was my favorite game ever growing up and was also the first thing I thought of lol
Fuck yes! The boys are back!!!🔥🔥
I love this show part 2: electric Boogaloo
YAY MORE JLA!
Jason Momoa would've excelled at a Mad Max Aquaman movie where the world is over and flooded and there's Black Manta Raiders but he's still having fun
It is the prophet Elijah.
