You're doing great, you got the hardest part already done, you started. Now you just learn and go like the rest of us. Congrats on all you have accomplished and looking forward to all the new things you accomplish.
I too found myself feeling like you. I was working in a cabinet shop thinking I could start my own business. But instead, got a job with a new automotive plant coming to town. I hated it. I told my supervisor I was going to work thete long enough to buy woodworking equipment and start my own business. Now, 25 years later, I about to retire from the automotive plant. Looking at woodworking again. You way ahead of me in the game. Just bear through the hard times and keep going. I wish you great success!
its all about repetition my guy .. if its boring ... it means you're doing it right. just believe in the process and the rest will scale as you grow. Subscribing to see how you get after it :) Stay strong ..
If....if..., you could design some type of small box that would fit in the palm of your hand, fill it with candy, wrap it nicely and show it to business owners. The idea would be for them to give these custom boxes out as gifts to their customers for special occasions. Birthdays or Christmas. 99 people will say no, but you need that just one to say yes. ( and one of those wine bottle holders; the flat piece cut on an angle with the oval to hold the bottle suspended ).
Editing is key. The most simple way to explain it, is its manipulation. You manipulate time, order of events, feeling through music & pace, etc. I suggest you invest some free time into developing a workflow & presets. If you have any questions about that, I’m happy to help. So just ask.
Keep your chin up. Remember, it's always darkest before the dawn. Someday you're gonna look back at these days and smile, because you stuck it out and succeeded. But only if you don't quit.
I don't understand how anyone can honestly look at youtube as a career these days. Just acknowledging the fact youtube revenue dropped 70-90% in 6 years, I would plan on using youtube to advertise and sell items and not as a source of income in itself. TH-cam created an amazing platform then destroyed it almost overnight.
Remember: J.O.B. = Just Over Broke LOL. A few years from now you'll look back on the struggles & uncertainty with pride in your accomplishments. You'll witness others working for someone else just like you who was willing to accept the risks, refusing to take what seems like the easier path. Self-employment is as real of a job as any out there. 😉
Yea well at least you got all your fingers know an old carpenter that is in his 80s kept them his whole life and lost one the other day. They told him they could do surgery and he can keep it he told them to go ahead and take it off
@@Humboldthillrat worst part about it would probably be my pride. Done lived all them years watching other carpenters lose them like em look at them dummies then chop you can't say that anymore.
@@steviejones888 You make it 80 years with most of your hair and most of your teeth and most of your fingers then you're probably winning - for the most part. 😏
So the glib thing to say would be "Tell me you have ADHD without telling me you have ADHD." In all seriousness, as a self-employed father of three that was diagnosed in his late forties because his kids were diagnosed - I would strongly suggest you look into it with an open mind. I know it seems like a trendy thing right now with all the TikTok BS but the truth of it is that there are a lot of undiagnosed people out there that are just discovering what it really is, vs. what it's portrayed as in society and the media. I know I had no clue and it wasn't anything like what I thought it was. You were talking about your feelings and decisions and I'm sitting here thinking "Check. Check. Check ... check." I'm not a psychiatrist but after a decade of immersion in the causes, effects, and treatments, like begins to recognize like. Obviously I could be wrong or it could be something else (there are a lot of co-morbidities), but you lose nothing by doing your due diligence, and you possibly gain a whole world of possibilities. Getting a proper diagnosis and then getting treatment can be a minefield; there is still a lot of misinformation and outdated beliefs even in the medical community, so finding properly-trained specialists that you can get access to is the first area of research. On TH-cam you can follow Dr. Barkley: www.youtube.com/@russellbarkleyphd2023 and Dr. Tracey Marks www.youtube.com/@DrTraceyMarks for a lot of good, accurate information, and the r/ADHD sub on Reddit (while it is typical in many ways of social media) can be a very good source of info. Good fortune to you.
The way you used the saw, fence past the centre of the blade, no guard or push stick.... tells me you should of stayed at the job longer and learnt more. To do 3 videos a week would need a whole lot of content and you can't get that from chopping boards! Concentrate on honing your craft and do the odd video. And please, no river tables or boards.....
@@Humboldthillrat far from it dear boy, probably forgotten more than you know... I know bugger all about making videos though, so maybe I should start a TH-cam channel....

My suggestion is going to some craft fairs. See what other people sell and or get ideas. Maybe try that way too.
Good idea!

No offense whatsoever but I don’t think your target audience is other woodworkers who are watching you because they are ……woodworkers.
