  • Is your Dell laptop overheating, CPU fan does not seem to work? This covers the Speed Fan usage on a Dell Latitude E5430. Yes, it's a quad core, not dual core. ;-) oops. This sort of works and pulses the CPU fan, and I will probably learn more shortly.

I dont understand what you want to show here? How this whole video helps solve the overheating problem of the E5430 people have? Your laptop is already working well maintaining temperature and not shutting down abruptly.

Hi pblinus, the E5430 is known for fan sensor failure and the cpu overheating and doing a thermal shutdown. this utility that I found helps override the problem. the problem did not originally exist with the production release of the laptop with the BIOS it was running. due to a BIOS firmware update, the problem(s) appear and therefore the genesis of this video.

Please help me, my E5430 brand new CPU fan is not running at all. I´ve tried w/ Speed fan, but no success. I´ve done all steps (enable Dell support, create fan 1, etc), but I see no rpm in readings and the fan is not making any moves. I´ve changed the fan because a fan failure alarm at the startup, the old one started nosing and finally it died. Maybe I shpuld use less thermal paste?

What program is that at 6:45, where you mention "temperature package"? Can't tell if I keep missing what you call it when I rewind and replay or if you don't name it
Edit: Nevermind. CPUID HWMonitor. I switched it to 720p and I was able to read the icon ;)

I use HWMonitor quite a bit lately. In fact the version I had used was not properly reporting my ryzen 9 5950x cpu's properly so I updated it.

Please respond. In your blog, you mentioned something about:
    2. install the Chipset e5430 windows 10 64 bit ...
    3. install the Management Info Packages e5430 windows 10 64 bit...
What do you mean by installing those two requirements? Is there a link to download those two and installing it please?

      hey @manloloyojosh,
i googled "dell e5430 drivers" and the results let me to these link and related direct links.
      www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/product-support/product/latitude-e5430/drivers
      dl.dell.com/FOLDER00365739M/3/Chipset_Driver_CPNKY_WN32_9.3.0.1019_A00.EXE
      dl.dell.com/FOLDER04469185M/7/Intel-Management-Engine-Components-Installer_C3VMM_WIN_11.0.6.1194_A02_02.EXE
the issue with the E5430 is updating the BIOS caused the overheating, yet one must keep up with the BIOS updates for security fixes, yet that was the downfall IMHO and others concur on other blogs and bulletin boards regarding the E5430 overheating. Speed Fan worked for me in this case and it can with a little trial and error and you will notice in my video it is both art and science to keep one of these models cool to some degree rather than overheating and shutting down.
      good luck.

im desperate to do this as my E5430 CPU runs at 65c ALL THE TIME. I have followed the instructions though and no matter what I do I cant get speedfan to recognize my fan. Ive installed all the packages/drivers mentioned on the blog inccluding latest BIOS and its made no difference whatsoever I just dont get it! I know this video is old but any help would be desperately appreciated.

@@GGPCTU thanks for replying, yeah during testing it was definitely pulsing, its very quiet since I updated the bios but I can definitely hear it when I put my ear close to the vents and theres alot of hot air coming out. It also showed values of 2578 RPM and 3215 RPM. So it appears operational.

Hey Andy, so the main issue im under the impression this has been a problem is sometime at one point when dell did the bios update it screwed up the fan control. Seems at this stage there will not be an update that addresses this. I am willing to bet that if we were to downgrade to a 2012 bios or something when the laptop was new it would fix this. I recently had this working normally right until yesterday when i updated the bios to a recent one. The machine probably had never been updated. And boom, fan isnt working right. Do you have any more feedback on this or a solution besides using the SpeedFan program? Thanks!

    • @GGPCTU
      @GGPCTU  ปีที่แล้ว

correct. bios firmware update instigated the issue and this utility alleviates it and unfortunately does not remove the problem completely.

@@GGPCTUMy fan on Dell Latitude E5420 is not spinning. If the BIOS is the problem, is it recommended to downgrade the BIOS? If so, how do I do it? It's the only laptop I have and it's always a pain (literally due to the temps) to use for my online classes.

Try changing the temperature triggers in the advanced fan control (I'm not in front of the computer, so I probably butchered the actual terms speedfan uses)
