    Does the rear suspension not have adjustable preload?

    • @UsernameKate
      @UsernameKate  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Not according to MCN, they state 'single shock, none adjustable' but happy for that to be proved wrong as any adjustability would be great!

    Hi Kate. Been watching a number of Hornet related reviews lately. Bought one last year and looking for affirmations. I know pathetic right. Anyhow it turned out to be a really useful teach-in how to filter. I know Mike finds chatting while riding faintly ridiculous but I agree with others he has a lot to offer. I found him very easy to listen to. Particularly enjoyed the use of the word jankie which was a new one on me but I intuitively knew what he meant. He clearly is a heck of a rider (as are you) even 2 up on a strange bike so he has a lot to impart.

    I can never get enough of the sound or your voice its just so soft and calming. If this TH-cam thing ever gets old maybe you could look into doing white noise recordings or something on the side or readings books or something. I could fall asleep like a baby in no time.😊

    Just loved this video Kate. Having returned to biking two years ago aged 75, I did struggle to find a bike with a decent pillion seat for my wife that wasn't too heavy. Your vlog highlighting the pillion seat on the Hornet and what they are suitable for was excellent.
    I now have a Triumph T100, BMW G310r and a 1982 Honda CB250rs, all three have decent seats for a pillion. It is surprising how many new bikes get reviewed but little is mentioned of the passenger capability of most of them. Mike did a good job doing the commentary, I have noticed you have broken fingers but having Mike at the helm was a big plus. All the best John😊👍🏍

    What a good idea Kate doing a pillion road test, think you hit the nail on the head with a short journey pillion capability. Got to say I had my doubts when I heard it was going to be a two pot, but I was wrong, it's a cracking middle weight bike. You are brave though I hate riding pillion, oh and tell Mike he's a budding star. Thank you.

    Thanks for giving a pillion perspective. My wife has ridden with me for 40 years. I would like to buy a new bike in 2023. But it has to be one that my wife will enjoy also. I hope you do more pillion perspectives in future reviews.
    I was riding pillion with my cousin on his Honda 350 in 1972. He decided to pop a wheelie at a stop light without warning me and I fell off the back. He thought it was funny, with the cars honking as I lay on the pavement. After I threatened his life I decided riding pillion was not for me. But it made me a better rider when I have someone on the back. Nice review.😎👍

    Good riding and a lovely area. My first concern is the size of the breakfast as I'm allergic to small portions and I have an over active knife and fork.😉 My second concern is the lack of tomato, brown sauce and yellow mustard as a coating.

  • @michaelarchangel1163
    @michaelarchangel1163 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Quite impressive that the bike seemed to handle well, without the need to crank up the rear preload. My own SV1000 was much the same but terribly hard when solo riding, so I had Maxton respring the shock for my weight and also jacked up the back end by just over an inch with some shorter dog bones {tie rods}. I'm not sure how the bike would handle with a pillion since, although it might be ok if they were fairly light, as Kate is. It's never easy for manufacturers to design universally good standard suspension setups, unless one coughs up big bucks for bikes with auto adjusting kit on them. I'm far too miserly to pay for such things, or crazy servicing costs.

    added shad panniers on my cb500x and itss a bear; a chore to get on/off it. So would be difficult to add. The top box would be needed.

    The pillion perch looked just about large enough for your moggie to snooze on, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. However, Kate must be a high-wire artist as she seemed to manage with the seat.

    You should do a pillion perspective on all the bikes you ride (if you can) OK leave out the 125s......... Some us love to take pillions

    With how good Kate looked on the back of that bike I'm surprised you didn't cause an accident.

    How much longer before your fingers are strong enough for you to ride again. That was quite a spill you had. Very pleased the injuries were minor.

    good review; yes honday has nothing in the Vulcan S range; the rebel is made for short legs. ! ; Need a cruiser to spead the legs out ! No reason there can't have the pegs out front on the rebel 1100 !! but........................

    It's very rare to have a review from a pillion perspective so well done on showing that.
    I wonder also whether you could try recording a conversation for both the rider and pillion which would further add something unusual and extra?

      I wanted to do that but I'm not rocking my normal set up (as my shoei headbutted a track at about 80mph) so my set up is up in there air at the moment 😫

    I took my cb500f out for a round today (of which it's hillarious how the Hornet is 75% of the cb500f, mine is a 2018 so the headlight is even more similar).
    And it was great, loved it. 5 years in and I don't regret a thing. I don't know if I'll be regretting to let it go for a new cbr650r tho.

      And I've ridden the Hornet, it's a blast but I don't like the punch it has down low as much as the smoothness on the cb650r I also rode on the same day.
      The 650's low end reminds me of my 500, which is more than enough to get going and for slow speeds.

      Today also rode around near people on bike lanes to get to the river for some pictures and noticed. If you nod your head to them and greet them before they can say anything they'll tend to not get aggressive lol
