That was a thorough review going through all the Hornet’s functions, you also took the time setting up multiple camera shots. Nice! Your production value is on point too. Most appreciated. From all accounts the quick shifter is butter smooth. Unfortunately it looked like that particular bike was not equipped with it though. Would’ve liked to have your take on it. Anyway I do agree with you, it is most probably the best bike for the money out right now. Your channel is doing great Rye keep up the good work👏

It seems the template for all the most successful motorbike TH-cam channels features a balanced combination of :
    Bike projects/garage stuff
    New/used Bike reviews
    Bike vlogs
    Bike tour vids
You're hitting on many of those, and your passion and motivation for bikes really shines through.
It's worth saying that people tend to come back to channels that feature sincere people (many don't) and you always come across really well.

Gee, best review of the Hornet I have seen. Good information, specifically about the suspension and handling through corners which concerns me. The CB 650s are under damped in my view. However the best bit is that you really gave the bike a great run through some genuine English B roads, not just some pristine French mountains and it came through. You pushed it. I have been asking other reviewers about the suspension and holding B road corners but you answered all the questions. I am now hanging out for your review of the GSX 8S and honest comparison. I am a fan of the GSX S750. Way better bike than its spec sheet. So the GSX 8S should be serious competition for the Hornet. Both arrive in my country July ish. Thanks again.

Great review, you brought out some great points that I feel have been missed by other mainstream journalist launch reviews. At first I was underwhelmed by the styling, particularly disliking the colour accent around the headlight cowl. The black bikes look far better in this respect, then they make it worse by painting the forks and frame red. Not just any red, a really horrible glittery shade of red. For that reason I think the grey bikes are the best of the bunch, no red forks and frame, no colour accent on the head light cowl just dull instead of hideous. The headline bhp figure is a league above its natural competitor the MT07, as is the exceptionally low price. It is astoundingly great value for money without the dreadful inadequate boingy suspension or snatchy throttle mapping that blighted the Yamaha at launch, and for several years after. However, comparison to the KTM 890 Duke or even better the re-release of the KTM 790 Duke would be the closer rival. Somehow, the general biking public seem to miss the fact that KTM have had a killer light weight sports bike for several years which looks like a brother from a different mother. Dynamically the KTM is likely to wipe the floor with the Honda, that’s chassis, engine & brakes plus the option to add a whole raft of electronic aids (at extra cost) that are not even available on the Honda accessory listing. KTM as a brand just hasn’t quite broken into the collective biking consciousness yet in the way that Honda has, but in reality I suspect if it were possible to blind test the Hornet back to back with a 790 Duke, the Duke would be the unequivocal winner every time. Now there’s an idea for a test, perhaps you would like to run such a comparison as mainstream channels are never going to it for fear of upsetting Honda.

Despite losing the hornet name, my first bike was a 2018 CB650F and I've found it to be an utter riot. I usually ride a GSXR1000 these days, but I still love taking my CB650F out and thrashing it. It's the weakest 4 cylinder bike you'll find, but that is the charm for me. I'm sure the new hornet is great, but I'm in no rush to do anything with my CB650F. I don't use the rider modes on my 2007 GSXR1000, so I certainly don't need electronic aids on a 750. It certainly holds a place in the market, it's a great option for some people. I love that Honda have done it, but it's not for me. Gimme that ZX4RR

Thanks again for the great review. I found the Hornet a little cramped (I'm 5'8"), no room to move back and lean into the bars, and the throttle is a little snatchy. . Helps to ride in user mode with braking on 1 and power on 2. You identified issues in corners. I have not test ridden that hard unfortunately.
I think the GSX 8S is well finished and smoother for everyday use. The Hornet is more urgent at 6,000 rpm but the GSX has sooth everyday usable power and is not short of power. The bikes are similar to 100kph and probably get to 140kph in a similar time. Higher speeds and the Hornet is clearly quicker, if you still have a licence by then... For better or worse, pick up my GSX tomorrow.

Won't be hard at all to elevate the look of this bike. First, match the color of the side panels protecting the radiator (the one with the hornet logo) to whatever the body color of the bike is (in this instance, a glossy black) but if the bike is in white or yellow, it'll defo look more apparent.
Second, the headlight is just too thick. Make it as thin as the glossy panel that surrounds the headlight from the side to bottom, then it'd definitely look cooler and more aggressive.
Lastly, the silencer is looking a bit boring, but that's a standard Honda silencer for you haha...

A bit of history,,,,,about the 270 IL2. Yamaha took their tenere 750 engine and bored it to 850 and made it to 270 from 180 to use in the sands of the paris dakar rally. 270 crank have better grip over all really.
Short there after they made the yamaha TRX850 and TDM.
Yamahas GP team looked at the TRX IL2 "crossplane" crank when doing the famous 2009 forward R1....MT-10 etc
...And then a lot of brands followed, iirc Husqvarna NUDA was one of the first....BMW has gone the route as well.
I owned my TRX for 12 years, it ended up with a TDM900/ TRX engine with 6 gears/quickshifter and programmable ecu 100/100 hp/Nm
