To visit "Schloss Amras" castle, don't take a car or "The Sightseeer" bus, take tram line 6, the "forest tram". That tram line goes up to Igls through the forest around that castle, and a few months ago it started to cover downtown Innsbruck too, so you can ride from right outside the old town or the Ferdinandeum museum to Schloss Ambras (and take a 3 minute walk trhough the forest). Greetings from Innsbruck ;-)
I’m coming here next July for the first time! Never been to Austria before but your videos about the country especially this one is extremely helpful! Thanks!
One thing I appreciate about Wolter is that he takes the time to learn the pronunciations of foreign words. I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve seen of influencers and narrators who mangle the names of places. If one is going to take the effort to make a travel video about a country at least take the time to research the places you are seeing and how to say them correctly, or as well as you can without being a native. Just a pet peeve of mine. Thank you, Wolter!
Just left Salzburg, want to do Krampusnacht in Innsbruck next time, but Salzburg was beyond awesome. A don’t for you would be “don’t forget to wear thick pants for Krampusnacht” as my wife has some bruises afterward that I escaped. That and something to the effect of “don’t get to Krampusnacht too late (on time) or you won’t have a good view.” You could probably do a whole video on Krampusnacht honestly if you have footage from it. Salzburg was unexpectedly one of if not our favorite among European cities and can’t wait to try Innsbruck. Thanks again for all the tips!
Hi, I am from Vienna and fully agree with all you re saying😊 !! I very much enjoyed taking that walk with you now through Innsbruck ❤ !! = reviving such good memories, I had from a 3 months stay long time ago, studying at the Kinder-Klinik Innsbruck in summer 1969 . . . not much changed 😂❤
Also don't forget to get out of Innsbruck while you're there. The Stubai and Otztal valleys have some of the most incredible hiking trails in the world. I've been told the skiing is great too, though I haven't tried it.
If you want to eat good in innsbruck i can only recommend the "Krahvogel" near Maria Theresienstrasse. Love that place. For "drinking" the classical irish pub in the Maria Theresienstrasse is my pick. Cozy and in the centrum of the "touristy" things. If you have time don't just visit Innsbruck. Get on a Bus and drive into small mountain villages. Especially in winter it looks amazing!
Thanks for this one Mark! Years ago I picked up a 1960's LP of Tyrolean folk music with a great photo of Innsbruck on the cover. It really made me want to go. But curiously Rick Steves and others downplay it in favor of Salzburg and Hallstatt, both of which I love, but sadly Hallstatt has been overrun. My last trip there in 2016 was mostly Asian tourists not even spending the night. I did have to change trains in Innsbruck once, and was seriously tempted to get out and explore. But you just put it on my map again! Speck and weird museums! Innsbruck is back on the menu boys! Maybe in a year or so! Thanks for finally showing me the city.
I have been to Innsbruck in July 2021. I really loved it❤I visited Schloss Ambras as well really a highlight and it is the oldest museum in the world. Also the funicular what Mark mentioned is really a good idea 😊
We're in Germany/Austria right now, touring 18 cities until December 30th. Would be so cool to meet in person (if only for a few minutes) and thank you for all the great videos you've made for us!
We were trying to fit in a day trip to Innsbruck when we were in Südtirol, but there is so much to see there we weren't able - can't wait to make it happen. Why "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" for the music background?
Recommendations with a double negative meaning should not be given in the "Don'ts" category, but in the "Dos" category. For example, "Don't miss out" should be changed to "Do". Otherwise, the division into "Don'ts and Dos" would make no sense, because everything can be given in any category.

His German pronunciation is terrible
@@rodjones117 He’s not a German language speaker and he tries at least. Most don’t even make the effort.

not much changed 😂❤
And we did have the time + leisure then, to go visit all the mueums, castles, . . . .
I’ll be traveling to Austria this summer. Been watching all of your Austria videos in preparation!
Great Architecture ! The opening line is a classic. hehe Nice Video !👍👍 Jim and Harriet

It's so nice to hear a native English speaker pronounce "speck" properly!
Awesome!!
we did the carriage tour through the old residential mansion area, well worth it, lovely tour
I used to live there and loved it!!!!
Fantastic video!!
Hey Mark, awesome video
Tip: When in Innsbruck you should also check out the nearby village of Hall!
@@christianunterberger6577 hey, it’s still a town, even if the population is just 13K 😄

NO WAY! Are you still in Innsbruck right now? Id like to say hi
Welcome to my home town 😊
beautiful place, and nice art. I am surprised they allowed you to film in there, since art museums don't like cameras like much.
Nice video! I swear I hear When Irish Eyes are smiling in the background!😅😊
Hi Wolter!
Irish eyes are smiling in the background! LOL…☘️☘️
Yes, and I’ve been noticing lately his German pronunciation is so good now!
😅😅 too good!

😂😂 you caught me off guard with that one
Liked Austria but definitely prefer other places in Eastern Europe but it’s nice. Loved getting out the cities
I will try to visit the city when I get tired of Switzerland.

Mark couldn't have timed his being safe talk with the gal behind him at 5:53 who almost bit it on the ice!

I don’t think people really think of Austria. I think you mean Australia.
Potato tomato?
@ not exactly. I think as place most persons don’t think of Austria. Its forgotten.
