In my 30+ years as a registered voter, I received my first ever call from a political pollster this year. It was hysterical how obviously the poll was rigged toward getting me to give pro-Trump and pro-Republican answers.
I can tell you from watching other independent election commentators on TH-cam, yes they are. There's been a few statisticians that they've interviewed who have pointed out that the polling in these areas have been poor sample sizes and used terrible methodologies. And even if you just do a "vibes check" in the comments sections, there are people who have been contacted by these pollsters and have reported questions phrased in leading and confusing ways. My bet is that we see massive blue gains in a bunch of different places and even a few surprises.
I've seen several recent polls that look pretty normal; maybe they oversample people in the 45-50 range a little bit but nothing super crazy. That is until you get to the income distribution and you see that 33% of those polled live in abject poverty making less than 50k, 33% make between 50-100k, and the final 33% all make over 100k. And then you look a little further and see that nearly 2/3rds of those polled live in suburbs. And then you realize they're just skewing all their polls by oversampling wealthy suburbanites.

What is wrong with our collective psyche that these polls wouldn't encourage fierce resistance and definitely voting? Like, if you think he's winning and you don't want that to happen, VOTE FOR HIS OPPOSITION
PA here. We all voted for Kamala by mail. Ballots received by county 10-10. We vote on our principles, not on what we perceive others are doing. F anyone who hasn't been paying attention enough to know the stakes of this election. Trump tried to overthrow the United States government. He is a traitor.
I wish you folks in the US the best of luck and I really hope voters actually show up to get Harris in the POTUS spot. As an Australian it probably really won't affect me much at all in my lifetime, but I think it's better for humanity as a whole if Trump gets the hell out of politics.
My 28 years of data wrangling in campaigns and elections taught me that new voters are less likely to be polled due to absence of email and phone information on their voter records. These data points are later filled in as voter data brokers fill them in from other publicly & privately available sources. I'm sensing the new voter registrations are overwhelmingly Democratic on the national scale, as a routine observation.
@@randominternetuser2888A lot of people are actually influenced by it. The desire to conform with the group is really powerful. That's why political groups, particularly fascists, try so hard to make themselves out as the overwhelming majority of normal people.
I’m probably just fooling myself, but I really do get the feeling that there’s a lot of people out there feeling social pressure to say they’re going to vote for Trump because of their crazier family members or social groups, but in the end they either won’t vote for him or just not show up to vote at all.
Trying to make it seem like a Trump win is inevitable could very easily backfire. It could discourage people who are leaning towards to Trump to not vote because they figure Trump's going to win anyway. Also, when all is said and done, polls don't actually matter.
The assumption is they don't care if he ACTUALLY wins. They just want to be able to fight about it after the election. My concern is EXACTLY that they seem to not care that this could easily backfire. Why would they not be worried about that if it is a close race? Do they know something about how the vote counting that we don't? Look at all the criminal election fraud they committed in the past. Unlike their claims of Democrat election fraud, there is TONS of Republican election fraud. It is systemic. How many people do they have in a postiion to change the vote counts that we don't know about? It is very scary.
This is why compulsory voting is a good idea. If voting is regarded as a civic duty instead of a right that you can choose to exercise or not, then regardless of what the polls say, people go out to vote. We do this in Australia. We routinely have voter turnouts of 90%+.
The polls showing trump in the lead just makes me more certain I have to vote for Harris. I am in a deep red state and my vote won't matter for that but I'm still voting for Harris!
I've actually had people suggest that I cast my vote for Stein or West. Part of the reason that we got George W. Bush was because some people cast their vote for Nader to "teach the Democrats a lesson". I'm voting Harris/Walz.

That’s what I was thinking! Thanks for putting it in words! 💙
In my 30+ years as a registered voter, I received my first ever call from a political pollster this year. It was hysterical how obviously the poll was rigged toward getting me to give pro-Trump and pro-Republican answers.
As Christopher Hitchens once said “Don’t take refuge in the false security of Consensus”.
It would be interesting to know how many people that repeat this still moan that the winner of the popular vote isn't always the election winner...
What if Thomas Dewey had done this? "The newspaper said I was gonna defeat Truman! This was rigged!"
i voted third party last time, because i am in the bright blue dot in a red state, but since the state has gerrymandered my city, so i went and early voted for kamala last saturd ay i'm pretty sad about not being able to vote for brother west tbh
I mailed my ballot 3wks ago and voted dem down the ballot😂
Polls haven't been right in a while.
I would like trump to be over.
What is wrong with our collective psyche that these polls wouldn't encourage fierce resistance and definitely voting? Like, if you think he's winning and you don't want that to happen, VOTE FOR HIS OPPOSITION
Lots of cooking going on. They wouldn't be doing this if they were winning
This has seemed obvious to me for quite some time. But thank you for confirming my suspicions.
I'm thankful every day that voting is compulsory here.
Polls, like many Americans are easily manipulated.
Steve, I love how you explain these things, you make us see things we don't always see.
It's crazy how many people think polls are meant to measure public opinion, when instead they're meant to influence it
How so specifically 🤔
Do trends and public influence change your mind 🤷
@@randominternetuser2888 How do you determine your vote?
@@randominternetuser2888A lot of people are actually influenced by it. The desire to conform with the group is really powerful. That's why political groups, particularly fascists, try so hard to make themselves out as the overwhelming majority of normal people.
@@iExploder Certainly not by polls.
@@randominternetuser2888it's crazy how many people vote for the winning side just to be right about who won.
Just voted 💙💙💙💙💙 down the ballot in Texas. 🤞
I’m probably just fooling myself, but I really do get the feeling that there’s a lot of people out there feeling social pressure to say they’re going to vote for Trump because of their crazier family members or social groups, but in the end they either won’t vote for him or just not show up to vote at all.
Yes. Yes, they are. And it's all for the benefit of one orange man-baby.
Correct.
The early voting and whatnot are kinda showing the polls to be iffy at best. But it's early.
*Sinisterly shameless*
Oh I hope that the polls are wrong because I just can't live with another four years of a Trump presidency.
Four?
@@catherinewilson3880 yes, an additional four. Not counting the four we already suffered through.
@@spikeoramathonher point is trump won't leave after four years he will never leave
@@muadhib001 oh perish the thought I don't even wanna go there.... on the upside, I think him dying within the next four is highly likely, given his age & general health, but... oh damn so much for sleeping tonight, thanks for the nightmare.
@@spikeoramathonand who wants Vance sliding in the driver's seat??? :(
I think when polls are so close, that negative polls actually will get some out to vote.
2016 almost all my friends didn't vote because it was assumed Hilary was gonna win (I'm in Michigan)
Yes, they are trying.
Hopefully it’s waving goodbye!!
I wondered if it had to do with early voting. I’m not exactly sure how polling works, but I would guess that they might not poll people who have already voted.
I'm discouraged by this race. I live in a red county in a blue state and it's been hard. But discouragement or not, I'm still casting my vote.
Yes they are and it’s to support The Big Lie Part II. It also gives voters permission to vote for the clown!
Cletius and Cooter asking each other who they will be voting for?
Hi Steve, fellow Trekkie here. I live in Georgia, so my vote is going to be really crucial. I voted blue all the way down the ballot. If there was only a Republican up for election on one part of the ticket, I selected write in and typed out "No MAGA".
if anything it just reinforces how close it is, and how important voting is
I feel this is manufactured as well
it's better to be the underdog, so that does not make any sense.
Look at the shady behavior of the right wing
💙💙💙 voting all blue, here in NJ
Nate Silver said his gut tells him Trump will win. I have never wanted a gut to be wrong more than I do now.
He has a monetary incentive for that gut feel. I am praying for him to be wrong, as he was in 2016.
It’s Not Even close to be over yet…..
Corporate media has failed America
Very grateful that I voted the first day of early voting! I prefer Harris but I could totally see myself thinking that if Harris was going to lose anyway (based on suspect polling), then it didn't matter. Thanks Steve for bringing this up!
Yes
Next question
Be a blue dot in a sea of red.
Yes they are and they've been doing it for weeks
Voted for Harris/Walz and Democrats down ballot last week in Louisiana. Let's do this.
May the blue wave "release the cry baby"!
Polls are nonsense. Why should you care what other people you don't know asking questions you didn't hear think? Think for yourself and put the entire industry out of business.
It's entirely possible.
Vote! Vote! Vote! VOTE DOWN TICKET!!!
here's to the day where all you need talk about is Star Trek hopefully that day is November 6th love from Canada
Hey Steve,
I votes already. But thanks for making this video. The polls got me real stressed and I hadn't had time to look into it.
Let'a go reasonnable people!
I'm tired. I'm tired of being lied to and the liars continually face no repercussions. IMHO we need to reform libel and make it feasible for class-action lawsuits on behalf of us (the electorates) for damages when disinformation strikes.
... Yeah, I remember the last red wave, I almost drowned in blue water, FDT...
Yes
This is an existential crisis. It only takes one man to upend history. I reckon someone is going to heed the call.
