Nice review James! The locomotive looks like it's sitting much higher in the front, not sure if the front truck isn't seated all the way down or what, but it's definitely not sitting level! I will admit, this N scale ES44AC certainly sounds better than their HO scale GP20 (that thing sounded more like a jet airplane than an EMD locomotive), but they need to get their arms around these diesels where they're not sitting off kilter, improving the sound quality, bent frames, etc. The steam locomotives look fantastic, at least the ones I've seen, anyway! BLI is a good company with alot of potential, they just need to make some improvements on the electronics and in the qc department, and they'll really have something special!

No, that's just the way BLI designs their locomotives. 🙄 They don't seem to care about that ugly large gap between the top of the trucks and the bottom of the body. It's the main reason why I will never buy one.

Thank you for sharing N Scale. Truly appreciated, Chris

I like the sound and most of the details on this one. But man that price alone makes me sticking to Kato for locos. + in N scale you don't really see much detail unless you're up close.

the one thing I don't understand. Is everyone that I've seen review these broadway limited loco's does not talk or show the one feature that I want to see. That is the record and playback feature. That is the most important feature of all!!!!!!!!

Hard pass on BLI. Models look decent but horrible electronics and ride height is just odd.

I don't have DCC so I'm curious how well they perform in just DC mode.

Looks to me the front end looks too high from the snow plow to the track

Hard pass on BLI. To much negative feed back. Shame to because I was really interested in CSX C60ac.
Did I miss the coupler height test? Going forward, can you please remove the shell so we can see the electronics and drive train.

    • @DaBobsNScaleMancave
      @DaBobsNScaleMancave ปีที่แล้ว

Removing the shell takes a lot of extra work to do. Couplers have to be removed first before the shell comes off. James has too big of hands and he shakes doing small detail work like trying to put back in the couplers and screws. So I doubt he will ever take an N scale shell off unless it is Kato, they just separate from the motor.

Would you recommend running these engines on DC track, or do they work better on DCC?

The cab light thing ia annoying with this company. Would like to have an option to turn it off when not moving Great review. Thanks

Good review, but I can't get behind the $200+ price point for this engine. If price wasn't an issue I would say a solid 7/10 engine for me.

these are awful. The tooling they use is odd, it makes some parts of the shell and body seams out of size which looks awful. The grab irons are so thick that id rather not even have them so I could put my own there. The ride height is pathetic. The only mold that is well done is the area of the body where the prime mover and radiators are, but that doesn't make up for the whole front end looking weird and the ride height. Not to mention half their parts aren't even painted which is crazy for a $200 loco. Proves that BLI is quantity over quality.

I don't model N scale but I agree with everything you've said. Look at the height between the steps at both ends and the trucks, that's insane.

    • @AbelG8781

Because BLI is JUNK. Stay with Kato and Scaletrains for Gevos.

@@DomQuartuccio you dont model N, yet based on your observation of one model youve damned an entire company's line. That makes sense.

@@whispofwords2590 I don’t have to model N scale to know what an average product looks like, quite frankly for the cost of the loco the customer deserves better.

Sorry but that thing shouldn't be worth not even $190, what a rip off for this odd looking loco. The size of the separately applied details don't match the shell of the unit which throws it way off and look how high the snow plow is. For $230 I'd expect them to do a waaaaaay better job then this, however I have no issue with the DCC and Sound.
