Like the idea of the check list. You could also use a sheet protector and a dry erase marker. You could print the list on colored paper to "code" the pattern if you wanted to as well. Cute backpack!!

You could always trim down the piece under the overlay so the zipper would only have one layer of vinyl under it.

You can never have too many backpacks...have each backpack packed with baby, diapers and food...one with sewing stuff...another with movie snacks...
