This has been the BEST video on how to sew a buttonhole on a Bernina, & sewing on a button. Excellent.

Thank you so so much for your wonderful tutorials. I bought a 710 when they first came on the market but got no back up locally or from Bernina, only the one day tuition (in London), and I have never got to really love it, now thanks to you I am really getting to know it. Thanks again.

Thank you for sharing this educational tutorial. It is very helpful.
Your blouse is lovely. Where did you purchase it?

Hi Cynthia. Actually my blouse was from one of our local stores and I can now longer buy that brand so it has just been put out in the skip after 5 great years.
I have finally had time to clean out my wardrobe during Lockdown here in NZ. Don't worry I have replaced it.

Can the new 700 series do buttonholes with top stitch thread on woolly coat fabric? For the difficult fabrics and threads I have an old straight stitcher with a buttonhole attachment. It's the only one I can make behave with top stitch thread, and it looks so much better on some materials.
    Regards :- )

How do you know where to place your foot in relation to the edge the fabric? Like in the front buttons of a blouse.

I just ordered a B720. Can't wait to get it. Your videos are great! I don't have the 18 foot but I purchased the #9 darning foot for buttons. Thanks for the tips!

Robyn, you are such a wonderful teacher - wish you were in England! I have an original B710 and do not recognise some of the items on the screen that you show. I wonder if I need an update, can you advise me on how to do an update please. Many thanks and please keep up the videos you are a star xx

If you go to the Bernina Website and go to support. You can search the latest update for your machine. Read the instructions carefully before installing your new update.Your dealer should let you know when there are new updates.

Hi Robyn - just recently become the proud owner of a Bernina 770 QE. With regard to the buttonhole foot, can you explain exactly how you judge the starting position of your buttonhole exact each time. It seems very easy to put the needle down in a slightly different start place which, although the buttonhole is the same size, can make a difference to the level of the buttonhole? - hope this makes sense.

craftyvirgo I usually mark the top of my Buttonhole with a pencil dot and my needle point starts there. The needle starts on the left every time.

You should do a review. If your arm or hand is in the way, do over.

For Buttonholes on Coats I use this Buttonhole Tool.It is fantastic as it flattens your bulky fabrics so you get a nice even buttonhole.I havent tried it with topstitch thread but I use 30 weight embroidery thread and there perfect.I eill try the topstitching thread on some wool fabric.www.bernina.com/en-US/Products-US/BERNINA-products/Accessories/Special-sewing-accessories/Fabric-feeding-aid-for-sewing-buttonholes

Wish you were my dealer. I think we would get along famously. Too bad I don’t love down under!

I am surprised Bernina doesn’t have an automatic buttonhole foot that will automatically adjust to the button size. Maybe that’s an extra foot you can buy.

And as the needle was threaded your arm was in the way. Damn
