As a fellow artist, most of my time spent drawing is adjusting my pen or paintbrush, planning the next stroke above the page, and changing my mind. 😂 Also, Danny Gregory from Sketchbook Skool is an absolute gem. I've been following him for years and he's inspired me so much with his words of wisdom. I had the opportunity to meet him in person at a meetup in Portland, Oregon. He even signed my sketchbook and wrote me a very kind message. Highly recommend watching ALL of his videos. ❤

He is just really...real, and I appreciate it. Kind old chap.

I’ve been a fan of your videos for several months now. I love your philosophy on being the best artist version of yourself. You keep me inspired to explore my own creative expression and I thank you for that.

A lot of the time, I underestimate just how much people are influenced by each other.
When I found your channel, I wasn't doing very well at all. I was holding on but quickly losing hope that life and art actually held any meaning at all. Your videos helped to lift my spirit as I listened to you talk about the other side of art. The human experience and thoughts behind the scenes of an artist's life and I saw many similarities to my own experience as an artist. (If you remember, at the time I wasn't even sure I could call myself a real artist)
Then I joined your discord and my mindset on the future began to change. I wasn't alone anymore as an artist and thankfully my health began to improve once the clouds of melancholy lifted...
What I'm trying to say is thank you and I'm not surprised that a few of us want to learn from you specifically.

Thank you, the words are sweet, and the encouragement is uplifting.
The human side of things is super important. It is so easy to be isolated as an artist, and I am discovering more and more as I get older, that we need at least a couple people to do this alongside. Thanks for the sweet comment too, its very encouraging.

Danny Gregory. That's the gentleman you were listening to. I've followed him for the last few years. I never kept my sketches/sketchbooks until I started following his page. Now, I have a shelf full and am blown away by them. I have considered a ytube channel... got to figure logistics of how to record with phone and of course sound. I did at one time have a private channel where I had a few cedar flute pieces I'd written. I did the vid for it so my "adopted" bro could hear it from halfway across the world.

What a sweet man. If you have an iphone or android, they make pretty cheap clamps and arms to hold the phones, and then you can just record there. I use OBS on my computer, which bluetooth links to my iphone for recording. Pretty sure it is because they are all apple products, but it works super easily. I have microphones too, but you don't need them...they just help.

@@zack_feldman I have a dirt cheap android. Just got a new one that's a bit larger screen so I can actually see it. I'll look into getting a holder so I can be hands free. Thanks!

New subscriber here - glad to have found your channel! I am preparing for my 6th Inktober and really are enjoying your videos. I used to do quite a few videos myself - but since my hubby's passing, have found it hard to turn on the camera lately. Perhaps I may try with this year's drawings again. Thanks for your inspiration - now I'm off to watch more!

I am sorry for your loss! Don’t rush it, but if you feel like it might be good for you, then perhaps it might be beneficial. Be gracious with yourself though! If you try it and just don’t feel it, I wouldn’t force yourself to continue.
Thanks for watching, and I hope it’s a fun inktober for you!

As someone who’s interested in starting her own TH-cam channel, this was very helpful! I don’t have a issue speaking publicly because of having presentations in my classes and speaking about my art to my teachers, professors and classmates. I’m looking forward to the Worldbuilding sessions because I’m working on a Worldbuilding project aka my comic but in smaller bits before starting on the epic.

You should start a channel! Let me know when you do, and I can send some folk over too.
I am looking forward to the worldbuilding stuff too...mostly trying to figure out how I want to format it. I have too many ideas, and don't really want to start uploading more than 3 videos a week...will burn me out, and will overburden my viewers, and neither of those seem like a good idea.

@@zack_feldman If it's like a drawing challenge, will you be sharing your worldbuilding prompt list, as well? Can't find one that is neurodivergent-friendly 😅

That makes sense! My sketches are often so disorganized and random, but I'm quick! I can take way too long to do much else though.
