On the early morning of 31 October 1956, Egyptian Air Force expected British and French airstrikes. Also, they attempted to increase pressure on Israeli paratroopers in Mitla Pass which had been reinforced the night before. But poor coordination led to a disaster.

Some assets used in this reenactment are not 100% accurate. For example, French RF-84F is represented by fighter version. Also, I apologize for poor quality of night and mist scenes. Usually, scenes recorded in War Thunder don't look bad. Especially with some film grain and camera shake but currently, YT simply hates me 😁 My videos don't get recommended and new uploads get low quality compression. These periods usually don't last forever so, maybe things get better in a month or two.
yt is user unfriendly, so its unsurprising that it is also creator unfriendly
@@Tal-q3r They are a monopolist so they can afford to be as unfriendly as they like 😁

@@showtime112TH-cam has certainly been becoming more and more irritating over the past couple of years. You do a great job with what you have available to you though so I’m willing to put up with the flaws in TH-cam
Great job regardless brother
One detail I realized, and thought very interesting, was the fact that two wooden aircraft from England, and built by the same company were used against each other in this campaign. The De Havilland Mosquito and Vampire were both made of wood. Israel used the Mosquito bomber, while Egypt used the Vampire. The Vampire jet fighter center pod was wood, and everything else was metal. The Mosquito bomber was mostly all wood. Israel lost a number of these due to delamination, or breaking apart, of the plywood in flight. They would sit in the hot sun, and the glue holding the plywood together would dry out and become a powder. Some of the Egyptian Vampires may have had the same problem.
The british made planes was WW2 constructions and obsolete 1956 against fast swept wings fighters.
Mosquitoes were full plywood construction, Vampires were plywood on the forward fuse
@@ursus9104 It's not the plane its the pilot . This has been proved time and time again.
The glue was ok in northern climates, hadn't been tested in hot or sweaty conditions.
The quality of my Saturday evenings quadratically improve when Showtime112 uploads something. Cheers!
I'm glad I've helped with your evenings 😁
thank you for the video. as i commented on a previous one "Yalo" Shavit is my fathers cousin. He would go on to shoot down a Mig-21 in 1967 and eventually become a Brigadier.
Thank you for another comment! I hope to cover that story as well in the future.
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your financial support!
Great video. In this series I had learn a lot from that conflict. Thanks
As always, an excellent video, instructive and fun at the same time.

Thanks for this EXCELLENT video, once more you hit the nail. By bringing back aviation historical events without political bíases.
It's good to read your comment, like always!
Verdade 👏👏👏👏👏👏
In the 1948 war for Independence, Israel knew it needed an Air force. They went to American and recruited American Jewish Pilots who were fighter pilots in WW2. Despite flying very bad Czech Built BF-109s, the more experienced American pilots blew away the Arab pilots. The Suez conflict was only 8 years after the 1948 war, but many of the American pilots stayed to help create the IAF and taught the new Israeli pilots how to fly, straif, bomb and most important, how to Dog fight.
Fun fact those 109s used bomber engines and propellers. which made handiling tricky at best.
thx for another upload

Excellent & concise histories of less well known battles. Thanks for your work.
That's a great feedback, thank you!
Really good stuff !! Thanks !!
I had fun doing it, thank you for the comment!
Poor Vampires, they always somehow end up fighting far more modern opponents!
Apparently in all the wars it ever participated in, Vampires never got a single air to air kill while the older Meteor did much better
True, Meteors were successful on several occasions but Vampires were quite unfortunate.
I would like to know how the Vampire could have performed against the Me262 had it come into service earlier.........
@@PaulP999 Vampire would’ve run loops around 262, it was only three years newer but was much faster and probably more agile
I think Focke-Wild Flitzer would’ve been a better opponent for Vampire, since one was almost completed before the war ended
@@PaulP999 Both the Vampire and the Meteor had better agility across most of their envelope, much better acceleration, and far better energy retention. They were both nominally slower in top speed, but that is likely not a factor IRL as the 262 seldom ever reached the design limits in actual service due to poorly built engines and bad fuel, whereas the Meteor and Vampire were both more likely to be able to reach design spec speed.
That said, actual air combat results and the stats derived from combat make it very clear that whomever sees the enemy first and gets the jump is more likely the winner, regardless of nominal aircraft capabilities.
@PaulP999
The me262's engine life was measured in hours and would flame out if it made a sharp turn, climbed or dives too or if the throttles were opened too quickly. That's one reason why fast prop planes made mincemeat of them.
No wonder they only served in the RAF until 55, aircraft were advancing so fast at this point it only took several years for fighter jets to be outdated and outclassed
Exactly, the speed of progress was breathtaking.
several, thats pretty generous.
we had vampires in Australia for awhile and canberras which served in the vietnam war.
we had a vampire at the ATC squadron i was in as a teenager, it was used as a static instrument training aid.

Well done, Showtime 112!
Thank you very much!
The Mystère IV was considered as far better than the Mig 15 and on par with the Mig 17. It was faster than the F86 Sabre but less agile.
I don’t know where you get that from. Israelis tested two Mig-15s that mistakenly landed in their territory. They concluded that Mystere IV was slightly superior at low altitudes and Mig 15 was slightly better at high altitudes.
Mystere IV was inferior to Mig-17 mostly due to lower power without an after burning capable engine. The introduction of after burning Mig-17 and supersonic Mig-19 were of much concern to the Israelis which is why they were quick to buy the Super Mystere.
@@rararnanan7244 You have to take into account many different characteristics to assess a plane. The Mystère 4 was very stable and hence a very good shooting platform, with a good pair of 30mm guns, as well as robust and easy to fly, and indeed better at low altitude where most combat were taking place. The Mig 17 was unstable at high speed.
And sometimes the pilot makes...the différence 👍
Excellent video as ever!
Feels good to hear it, thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to put these videos about this theater up on your channel

If I could do a request sometime, could you give the same treatment to the Dutch Air Force in the East Indies in the early stages of World War II?
I would love to see your take on the Buffalo Demons and Hawks going up against the Japanese zeros and Oscars
Thank you for your feedback and suggestion! Brewster Buffalo is certainly an interesting topic. These 'underdog' stories can be quite fascinating. I studied the type's involvement in British service in Malaya a little bit and I'm sure its role in Dutch service might be cool to cover. Some literature does exist as far as I can see. I can't give you any specific dates yet as my inspiration is hard to predict :)

Glad to hear you are not at work :)
I had thought the "Vampire Massacre" was going to be British Vampire jets showing their abilities, trouncing someone else/ saving the day. Oh well. Nice aerial 'footage.'
Unfortunately, the Vampire really never got a chance to show what it could. By the time it first fought in combat, it was already surpassed.
Me too
Cool to see war thunder enables such good animations
It can look pretty impressive under certain circumstances. Thank you for your comment!
Excellent job ! Love it
Thank you for your positive feedback!
Another great job done! I love the way the burning planes look while falling at 7:17. They look more realistic tumbling down to the ground. It shows how you improved with your special effects. You have come a long way compared with your first videos.
Next year is going to be the 70 Year anniversary of the conflict. Making videos now will be an aspiration to future documentary filmmakers. This series has proven to be a success and I will love watching future episodes. No one has given attention to the dogfights on the Suez Crisis so when you make these episodes it is so educacional and worthwhile to learn. Thank you.
I do have some questions :
Why is the Israeli tracer ammunition green? (6:21)
Are you going to return to making videos about the Israeli F-4 Phantoms? I would love to see a video about the War of Attrition.
Remember, your objective is to make the videos just like the Dogfights series from the History Channel. That is what you're doing: gaining experience and perfecting your knowledge and skills with each video you post.
Keep up the good work!
You uh... you know he's just recording a game right? War thunder?
Thanks for the detailed feedback! War Thunder and DCS get continuously updated so I guess they make my videos look better too! I also upgraded my video card last year which gave me higher settings. As for green tracers, I have to say I'm not sure. Perhaps different producers used different colors but I'm just guessing.
Regarding the Phantom, it is my plan to cover the entire War of Attrition and make a series similar to this one. It will feature Phantom very heavily but also Skyhawks, Mirages, MiGs etc.
Great way to understand military air actions
I agree! I really make these videos for myself 😁
The Vampire is the whipping boy of the 1st gen fighters
The poor thing really had plenty of bad luck

The part where the vampire pilots were left without escort is a universal stuff up. That must have been horrible.
Great video.

These are all great vids showtime, please keep them coming. Any chance of WWI vids?
Thanks for the feedback! As for WWI, it is on my long-term 'to do' list. A platform exists which can enable it, I just need to be inspired and study the topic some more. I'm replying from my backup account as my original reply simply didn't stick. Last six months or so, YT does that for some reason. At least 2-3 comments under each video to which I can't reply.
@@showtime112b Thanks for your reply showtime. My main interest is WW2 (particularly love your minor country replays as no one else does them) but your vids are so slick I'll watch any time period you do.👍
@@worrierqueen5695 I've been neglecting WW2 recently but I hope to return to it. I plan to cover the Norwegian Air Force's resistance to the German invasion. Gladiators achieved some minor success but it can still be an interesting story.
Just come across this absolutely excellent
Thank you for the feedback! Feel free to watch some earlier videos too!
What a mixture of aircraft.
Both sides purchased from various sources, the political factors being decisive. There's more detail about that in the first video.
Sounds like a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode, but it is not 🤣😅
Again a great video about some "not well known" air combats, with some "Mystere" inside 🙂👍
Loved that show 😁 This is possibly the least known Arab-Israeli War (or so it seems to me)
Great video, once again! The night scenes look ok, but I had to increase backlighting on my phone.
But, yeah... Yt is not being ok for few years back now. 🤷🏼
Nice to hear from you! War Thunder's night setting is far more distinguishable than to DCS. It even looks like 'night' scenes from those old movies which were shot in daytime with a dark filter 😁 DCS is real night, I have to set gamma correction to maximum to get any kind of a useful footage.
@@showtime112 I hear you, my friend.
I love night flying in games, but DCS is somewhat tough regarding that topic.
Anyways, I've been away for few weeks and now am catching up on things. I spent this evening flying TF-51 and A-4 in DCS (the 2.8.5 version, mind you), and also had some quick fun in FC2. 😁
That animation is really good.
Thanks! War Thunder can look pretty good under right circumstances.
What are the sources of these air wars it would be great if you tell us the sources 😊
Main sources are always listed in video description
could you cover the air war in the Uganda-Tanzania War?
Maybe, I think that air assets are mostly available but there are no good maps which could represent that part of Africa. Or at least, I think not.
You need to do a movie, your vids are better than whats coming out of Hollywood
I'm not sure how I'd function with a large budget and a whole bunch of people to work with 😁 But I still appreciate the compliment!
@showtime112 look like you have production and a plot
Odlicni uratki i svaka cast na trudu izrade samih videa💪🤌. Samo bilo bi bolje kao u starijim videima da stavis titlove na hrvatski. My gosh....three Vampires destroyed on Halloween 1956!
Never made that connection 😁
Could you number the videos in a way so they are chronologically easier to view?
The previous videos have been added their numbers but for this one, I'll wait a while. YT algorithm absolutely hates sequels and when it realizes a video is a part of a series, it usually doesn't suggest it to many people. So, I'm trying to trick it that this has nothing to do with previous three videos (for now, at least) 😁
So, the Egyptians were flying British and Soviet gear, the Israelis were flying French and British types and the French were flying American. Interesting times..
It was a wild party 😁
The Gun camera footage is cool.
Thank you! It's just me having some fun 😁
The Vampire started to be manufactured in the same time as Me-262, but it was inferior to Me-262.
By 1956, it was obsolete . . .
Van Helsing! That's you?
😁
Truly a stake in the heart of the hapless Vampire.
I see you have several Tom Cooper books in your sources. I managed to snag his magnum opus 6 volume series "Arab MiGs" before the publisher pulped all the remaining copies. Please ask if you need any information from them.
I purchased a whole bunch of his books in electronic format and they are great sources. I don't own the 'Arab MiGs' series. Sadly, they are hard copy only and quite expensive now but I'd be interested to find what he had to say about various events that I intend to cover. Can you perhaps contact me on showtime112b@gmail.com?

Interesting, but if there were no Egyptian crews to fly the bombers and they were flown by foreign advisors to other countries, who crewed the bombers when they attacked the israeli air bases at 2:11 in the video? Israeli Mosquito was very cool. Vampires look so cool.
There were only several Egyptian crews ready and they flew the night sorties against Israel. Only the 'surplus' bombers were evacuated. I agree on the Mosquitoes, they might make another appearance in the series.
Comment for the algorithm.
I appreciate your effort!
The mystere seems a very effective aircraft.
So first, it was our food , now it’s our Vampires…

I rewatch again vidéo on TV. All viewers comments are full of praises. I am asked if virtually 😮 a fight started between F84F T-streak and mig15... virtually i said😂
Vampires had no ejection seats.
The sound of the Vampire is wrong. It has a higher pitched sound, like a whistling kettle. I remember the sound from back in the 1950s when I lived near an airbase that hosted them.
Sounds in War Thunder are synthetic

TOO DARK in parts this video; not a pleasant thing to watch.
These events take place at night or very early in the morning with misty weather so they can't exactly look like sunny mid-day scenes. As far as I can tell, scenes are not too dark unless you are watching in a very bright environment with screen set to low brightness. The problem is more the fact that YT ruined the quality of these scenes and they are hugely overcompressed.
Another great video
