    You forgot to mention that when you visit the Katz Corner in Zestiria, one of the katz tells you that Maotelus himself visited the Katz Corner 1000 years ago. That turns out to be true, since in Berseria you get to go to the Katz Corner with Laphicet/Maotelus in your team.

    The Magilou being buried theory is further supported by the Zestiria X anime, in which it's revealed that it was Magilou who told the people about Malevolence, therefore breaking her oath that kept her alive.

      Another interesting point to bear in mind regarding the whole "Storytellers" aspect: Bienfu is quoted as being not just one of the greatest normin poets, but THE greatest, in a skit conversation. Wouldn't it be funny if it had been Bienfu writing all the stories down at Magilou's coercive behest? Food for thought :)

    • @prestonbryant1438
      @prestonbryant1438 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I think that is magilou melchior lived a super long time it’s not crazy to think that she lived that long

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      It's not about living a long time because she actually did, as a novel Namco released confirms this. We just have no confirmation of it being Magilou because not even the novel confirms this (and the novel goes into quite detailed explanations of even how Rokurou dies and when Eizen turns into a dragon). The anime is 100% non-canon and it should be obvious due to how much they deviated and contradicted the lore (the Dragon purification and the sealing of Heindalfr being two examples, as it is a focal point of Zestiria's story how Sorey has no choice but to kill both the Dragons and the Lord of Calamity, and Berseria makes it clear that the only way to save a Dragon is the power of the gun Siegfried).

  • @SomeRPGFan

    Another possible clue that Magilou could be the person in the tomb: The Mayvin buried in the tomb is described as a poet. Magilou carries a poetry book around (which she claims is Bienfu's poems) and recites a poem to Laphicet. She also makes up a little poem about a frog in one skit.

  • @HanabiraKage

    One thing: If you head to the royal villa in Loegres after unlocking the final dungeon in Berseria, prince Percival tells you that he intends to scrub all mention of Artorius and Innominat from the history books so no one will know what they did. According to Zestiria, he succeeded...partially. History/archaeology buffs Sorey and Mikleo knew nothing of Innominat, but the Empyrean's Throne has been renamed Artorius's Throne so clearly the guy's gone down in history (as a hero, to boot) despite Percival's efforts.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      I believe that according to the records in Zestiria the name of Artorius likely remained in existence because during the reorganization of the Church and the Shepards they needed to rally around some form of figurehead "hero" and eventually latched on to the idea of the first person to name himself the "Shepard". He did succeed in erasing the ideals that Artorius held, thus the Shepards being more about mantaining the status quo and free will while purifying malevolence.

    I noticed that its not for a random reason that Laphicet in berseria is the one to learn the mystic arte Indignation that is a staple to the series, since later in Zestiria, it is only when Heldalf has armatized with Maotelus that he is able to use indignation, borrowing Maotelus' power in order to use it.

    When you finish the Ex-Dungeon in Berseria you find out that there is another world called Heaven where Seraphims live. The Malakhim were from that world but got cursed by the seraphim that disagreed with the malakhim who wanted to live with humans. Thus the curse transforming Malakhim into Dragons and Humans into Demons.

    • @HanabiraKage
      @HanabiraKage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Which also means that Heldalf's goal of "returning the world to its original form" by flooding it with malevolence and turning everyone into hellions is based on a flawed assumption, since hellions/daemons aren't their "original" forms.
      I played Berseria first, so when he said that line I literally facepalmed.

    I actually really liked how both games were connected despite taking places 1000 years apart. They felt like companion games and gave a bit of incentive to playing both games lore-wise, especially with both games reversing the roles of the protagonist and antagonist. I hope if they do explore the concept again, they do a few things to improve it such as 1.) Not having the game that takes place in the past be released after the most current one (Because playing Zestiria before Berseria can kinda damper your experience with Eizen since you know what will happen anyway despite a subplot about his rotten luck seemingly improving as he travels with Velvet; and 2.) Not recycling the same locations.

    Another fun thing about blonde siblings is that they wear matching gloves (edna wore eizen's right-handed glove while eizen wore the left one, as mentioned in a skit). It is probably given to her after berseria ended since eizen wore both gloves in berseria. Also, note that the wrist part of edna's glove is very loose and edna tightened it with a ribbon, but it fits perfectly with eizen's wrist.
    Edna wears eizen's shoes too! (also mentioned in a skit). Edna said that her brother fixed the size so it fits her. It make sense since they both are the same design, except that edna's has a buckle on them (to fasten it?) and are shorter.
    Lastly, Eizen's back has a dragon/evil wings on while edna's has angel wings. I swear to god I love the small details that they put on the designs

      The Guide book was included in the JP's collectors edition which Global doesn't have. Even Zestiria had it before. And more like a new game is another prequel, since there were mentions in Berseria's npc about Siegfried (the first oracle), Brunhilt (the prime lord) and Jenisis (the great normin) journeying together. Siegfried is the first to have performed armatization, that's why his gun or the Sorceress Ring (Brunhilt) was needed to get the formula of creating more Divine Artifacts.

    Well another argument for Rose being connected to Eleanor has to do with the fact that she has pretty strong natural resonance connecting her to Eleanor who became the Shepherd after Artorius and likely maintained her resonance. Eleanor's descendants would also potentially have strong resonance from her as Zestiria shows that resonance seems to be hereditary as shown with Mikleo and his family, a family in Lastonbell, Artorius who out right stated that Laphicet would've been born with strong resonance because he had that, and quite possibly Sorey and his family depending if you think Heldalf (implied to be his father in the manga) and or Selene actually had resonance. Plus theorizing that Rose got her resonance via heredity due to being a descendant of Eleanor gives closure to the plot point in Zestiria that pissed off every Alisha fan of her being able to armatize and not have a negative effect on Sorey after making a pact with her.

    • @JRPGFanatic
      @JRPGFanatic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That makes sense. But I was under the impression Rose had high Resonance because she was constantly being possessed by Dezel for a long time. I don't remember exactly where I got this idea from but it might be me misinterpreting something that was said.

    • @becca1chan8773
      @becca1chan8773 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Yeah the game is actually pretty vague so I don't blame you. The game kind of theorizes that Rose had high resonance because of Dezel possessing her. Then it gets revealed by Symmone and Rose that she had pretty high resonance all along (As Rose said herself that she remembers meeting a seraph when she was a kid) but her environment made her deny their existence which Dezel likely took advantage of.

    • @shadowX50
      @shadowX50 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I played ToZ a long time ago but I believe its stated somewhere that some people are just born with resonance. I am not sure if resonance is entirely hereditary but I like to believe she was just one of the lucky ones to be born with it. I am going to play ToZ again since I just beat ToB and maybe I can pick up more things.

    • @dojelnotmyrealname4018
      @dojelnotmyrealname4018 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I think the connection between Rose and Eleanor is actually a stretch. Rose's resonance isn't exactly natural, as it's the result of Dezel controlling her over and over. Actually, at the start of Zestiria it is mentioned that Sorey's high resonance is as a result of him being raised in a Seraphim village. I personally believe Resonance is more your senses very slowly adapting to the presence of seraphim, and that spending long enugh times in close proximity to Seraphim, especially at young age, develops resonance.
      That being said, Eleanor may very well be related to someone in the Zestiria Universe: Maltran. Note the similar hair color, and while Eleanor was never called this, she was a Dragoon in Azure. We don't really know what Maltran's resonance was like since we meet her as a Hellion anyway.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually, the Dezel thing being the reason for the Resonance is just a pet theory the game threw at your for a while. But the DLC and several skits change it around and Rose admits that she had indeed seen Seraphs when she was a kid. That also explains her fear of ghosts, as her high resonance would make her bee able to see both Seraphs AND Hellions, making her thus able to see monsters others could not.
      Also, it would have been rather impossible for Dezel to freely posess Rose while she was unconcious if she had zero resonance since just becoming a vessel already requires a good amount of Resonance (to the point that even during the 3 years that followed the Advent, when humanity's resonance was artificially increased, only a select few humans could become Exorcists and use Malaks in battle, and even fewer had enough power to become vessels of high ranking Malaks).

    Artorius is the first Shepherd to take on the name Shepherd. There was another Shepherd several hundred thousand years before him who traveled with Jenisys, a Normin, and a Seraph named Brunhild (which the sourcerer's ring is named after).

    • @Meian
      @Meian 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Yep, they were called oracles in the past. The first oracle was Siegfried, the owner of the Sacred Blade which is Brunhilt's vessel. But due to her absence, Lailah made it her vessel, so that also explains that Brunhilt is the original Lady of the Lake.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      There's theories that Lailah is merely the latest incarnation of Brunhilt. It's stated in Zestiria, and hinted in Berseria, that a Seraphim's power "moves" to a new vessel of sorts when they are reborn in the Earthpulse. Brunhilt's power reincarnates in Seres as proven by the fact she was able to wield the power of the Sorcerer's Ring, so we can assume that Lailah is born when Velvet released souls into the Earthpulse to awaken the Empyreans. This can explain why EIzen, Zaveid and Edna are all accounted for in Berseria yet Lailah is absent.

      I don'tthink they will meet BUT I can see them making a last Malevolence-series game since they released a big book explaining the lore up to Zestiria just this year. Which kind of felt like they wanted to keep the hype on the Zestiria/Berseria franchise going. It also adds with the fact Berseria was a prequel (with a bonus dungeon which added clues to a future sequel) and Zestiria had that wholeDLC which was basically a "to be continued".

      Ah that, I wasn't answering to the rays comment, Rays is developed by a different team that works on the smartphone titles (Rays is not their first one, just the first that got released over here). It's also basically fanfiction so it doesn't matter in the overall franchise.
      What I was referring to was the lore of the Malevolence series detailing the different eras (many of which Sorey and Grimoirh briefly referenced in Zestiria and Berseria) and adding details to Claudin and the founding of the Meliodias Dynasty, even mentioning that Meliodias was thought to be the first Lord of Calamity. Also,the World Guidance lore says that the Five Great Spirit Lords and Sub Lords appeared 3000 years before Zestiria, with the Shepard helping create the AVarost Dinasty 2300 years before Zesty, and then the Lord of Calamity unifying the Continent 300 years after that. 500 years after that Shepard Claudin creates Asgard and saves the continent from outside invasions,only for Velvet to topple Shepard Artorius during Berseria's time. Basically, the Malevolence timeline is a big cycle of Lords of Calamity and Shepards defeating one another (which is why Artorius wanted to create an eternal utopia to stop the cycle).

    I also always believed the little boy's portrait in the museum in Zestiria was Laphicet (Velvet's brother, not the Malak), that maybe Artorius would have had painted after he killed him.
    This portrait intrigued me to no end in Zesty though, to the point I was frustrated that it wasn't explained, sooo I might overinterprete. But they definitely do bear resemblance.

  • @deckyfx2188

    One of side quest in Berseria is "Laphicet's Elixir" where you have to find some materials to complete it,
    In Berseria Elixir is is an ancient potion that no one know how to make it, until Laphicet meet a certain book worm kid and he gave Laphicet the recipe to make it, then Laphicet promise to himself that he someday will make it.
    Also the dad of bookworm kid is Exorcist that indirectly help Laphicet to complete the Elixir, so that might explain why in Zestria, only the church know how to make it.
    This Elixir somehow made its way in Zestria as main plot in one of Zestria main quest, also Sorey found one in a forest that could be real one.

    • @JRPGFanatic
      @JRPGFanatic  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Hmm, correct me if I'm wrong. When picking up an elixir from a chest in Zestiria, there is some dialogue about how the recipe/method was lost long ago and only Maetolus knew how to make it. At first I thought it was refering to Laphicet's side quest to make the Omega Elixir but the item found in the chest was just a regular elixir. Elixirs existed in both games as consumable items and in Berseria it granted full health and gave 3 souls iirc. What Laphicet made was an Omega Elixir which I thought was more powerful and not the same as the regular Elixir. So I thought the Elixir would be the same thing as nectar in Berseria which I believe only the church knew how to make (I just thought they lost the recipe somehow). Something didn't add up so I didn't include it.

    Basically seraphims were the one that didn't believe in humans and stayed away from them by staying in the heavenly steppe while malakims were the one that believed in human and went down to earth to try to live together with them. As a punishment Seraphims created malevolence or rather took advantage of human hatred and made it evolve into malevolence to make it harder for humans and malakims to coexist turning humans in daemons and malakims in dragons. if you look at things that way inominat is not so much of a bad guy compared to the Seraphim since he eats malevolence. So if Maotelus is unable to permanently get rid of malevolence every time he uses the flames of purity at least inominat will be able to eat it away to prevent seraphims from achieving their goals.

    You missed the area where a Malak mentions Zenrus as a great Prime Lord and wishes to train under him. As well as mentioned of Siegfried, the first Oracle/Shepherd who travelled with Brunhilt (Prime Lord) and Jenisis (The Great Normin).
    Siegfried is the first to have performed armatization, that's why his gun or the Sorceress Ring (Brunhilt) was needed to get the formula of creating more Divine Artifacts.
    Siegfried is also the original owner of the Sacred Blade which is Brunhilt's vessel, which Lailah took it as her vessel due to her absence in Zestiria. So that also explains that Brunhilt is the original Lady of the Lake. The Sacred Sword was buried at the Temple of Trial under the Lake where could be the Temple of Water in Zestiria.
    Temple of Trials existed way back before Berseria in the era of Avarost to test the Oracles. Those 2 Malaks didn't create the trials, I think you cut some part of their conversation about the test they were saying.

    • @LeonGun8
      @LeonGun8 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They were discussing the idea for the trials that eventually where created by the Seraphim and the Shepards. ANd yes, Brunhilt was the original Lady of the Lake and the true source of the legend of the sword. Which makes sense since the legend already existed in Berseria's time.

    Rose's twin dagger fighting style that shares a slight similarity to Rokurou's Zangetsu style wasn't inherited by her or her family. She was taught to fight using twin daggers by a mercenary leader, Brad, after he became her foster father whom took her in as a young child after he found her alone on a battlefield after her parents were killed. So, Rose has no familial relation to Rokurou whatsoever.

      Actually, if you think about it further, Seres/Celica sacrificed her life to Velvet so that she could obtain the Sorcerer's Ring, due to an oath placed on her by Melchior and Artorius.
      And let's not forget about Artorius' throne, which has served as a hideout to the main antagonists Artorius (who later moved to the Innominat dungeon) and Heldalf (after the malevolence had severely altered the land layout)

    While calling it a "reference" is a stretch, I thought it was a pretty cool connection that Artorius' Throne was (basically) the endgame for both games. You see it being built over Berseria due to the location's key access to leylines, which let Artorius complete his end game goals. Then in Zestiria you see the ruins of some old shedpherd no one cares about anymore that have important leylines for the big bad.

    Artorius wasn't the first shepherd. In the Berseria book the lore part mentions shepherds from way before his time.
    Another connection (subtle though) is when Lailah talks to Sorey about the last time a Lord of Calamity took over the land 200 years ago. On the book it's said that was when Eizen became a dragon, fighting this Lord of Calamity with Zaveid and winning by absorbing its malevolence.
    Another connection is Indignation - it's Laphicet's most powerful Mystic Arte and the one Heldalf uses when armatized with him at the final boss battle

    Kind of surprised he missed the whole Lord of Calamity reference. x,D
    In Berseria its shown that Lord of Calamity is a Title and not a Being itself. So the whole story that a New Lord of Calamity is Born over and over again is false because the strongest Monster just earns the Title thats all. So when Helldalf said Sorey will turn into a new Lord of Calamity once he kills him was a flat out lie or he really didnt know any better.
    Funfact:
    If a new Lord of Calamity can only be born once the old one is gone then Helldalf wouldnt excist given the fact Aizen ate the Lord of Calamity thaat "ruled" before Helldalf. And given the fact Eizen is by far the strongest Dragon proves that he not only ate him but also gained his power hence why he is so strong and unkillable. Hes pretty much the Dragon of Calamity. That means there were two Lords of Calamity in Zestiria one being Eizen.
    Another fact:
    Symonne gave the same Oath Claudin Asgard once gave. However instead of a longer life Symonne asked for immense powers. Instead people dont remember the Oath is to :" never kill anyone".

      That would mean only Velvet and Laphicet could make a return since Eizen was killed due to not being able to purify dragons, Eleanor died of old age (she was human after all), Magilou died 700 years after ToB events (on her tomb in ToZ you hear she passed away 300 years ago and about Rokurou that would be kinda to the developers interpretation, on an official book it's said he died fighting daemons hundreds of years after ToB events, but on the games his fate is unknown.

    On the topic of connecting Eleanor and Rokuro to Rose, one of the skits in Berseria suggests that Rokuro and Eleanor get together. When Eleanor hears about Shigure's favorite food, she asks Rokuro to take her to where she can eat it. It's a stretch, of course, but it would help explain why Rose looks like Eleanor, and uses dual knives like Rokuro.

    Honestly I look at these small references and I really do wonder... Was Berseria's story already written when they released Zestiria? Must have been. There is no way they wrote Berseria afterwards to fit whatever the characters in Zestiria said.

      Why not? I don't think it's that hard since they left a lot of room to do what they wanted with characters. That's not to say you're wrong about Berseria being conceived during Zestiria's development or shortly after its release. I think it could go either way but it doesn't really affect my enjoyment of the game or lore so I don't put much thought into it.

  • @Astraeus..
    @Astraeus.. 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's really quite surprising just how many people have played both games and STILL just can't seem to realize how much is exactly the same, with only the names for things being altered. It should be immensely obvious that Daemons and Hellions are the same thing, just as it should be obvious that Malakim and Seraphim are the same thing. I mean the very presence of Zaveid as a Malak and then as a Seraphim should be all the hint anybody ever needs....
    One of the key differences that is never really explained though; In Zestiria at first only Sorey is able to armitize, thanks to his contract with Lailah. As things progress he is able to armitize and assume the abilities of most of the Seraphim with him. Later both Rose and Alisha are able to armitize, although nowhere near on par with Sorey, as he can carry multiple Seraphim and swap forms on the fly.
    This is both similar and also very different from the relationship between Malakhim and the Exorcists (And Magilou...wtv). Despite it being stated several times that ONLY an exorcist can tether a Malak there is a point where Velvet is asking Magilou about that, to which is replied "says who, the people who make the rules?". Regardless, the tethering of one or more Malak gives a person the ability to use various abilities and fight demons. But unlike the process in Zestiria it seems extremely unrefined. While it might be normal to assume that the tethering of Malak evolved into the ability to armitize with a contracted Seraphim as is seen in Zestiria, that still makes very little sense. As time passes humans and Seraphim grow farther and farther apart, until only a very few can even see them, so the idea that their combined abilities would actually progress rather than degenerate really isn't all that logical.....
    Long story, I know, but still it would be nice to know how exactly tethering a Malak to achieve mediocre power somehow became armitizing with a Seraph and being all badass...

      @JRPGFanatic  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s been awhile since I’ve looked at Berseria/Zestiria lore so I’ll give it a shot and hopefully someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
      For your points about armatization, Alisha was never able to armatize, at least not in the base game or DLC. Where did you see her be able to do this? She was by far the weakest (this is an understatement) in terms of resonance with Malaks and even hindered Sorey at the beginning. Rose is just as strong as Sorey iirc and she is also able to armatize with everyone just like him. She even gave Sorey and gang trouble when they first fought when she was being controlled by Dezel.
      I’m not quite following on your point about tethering. If I understand correctly, you’re saying that tethering didn’t make sense in Berseria? In Berseria Malaks were forced to be tethered to a person because they lost their will basically because of Artorius and Innominant. Each Exorcist has a certain quantity of mana (I think that’s what they called it?) that is set once they’re born and I believe this allows them the capability to “tether” with a malak. People with more mana could tether with more Malaks. Armatization is kind of a different thing. It’s more like a new technique rather than an extension of tethering since we see it’s something that was researched and developed by Melchior.
      The statement about combined abilities progressing seems to be about why Sorey and Rose were so strong while armatized compared to all the exorcists in Berseria who were very weak. Sorey and Rose are the only ones besides Heldalf who could armatize and all these characters were very strong. In Sorey’s case this makes sense since he grew up with Malaks his whole life so his resonance is very strong. He did become the next shepard afterall. Rose’s resonance was always strong and was close to Sorey’s power so it’s not unbelievable that she is also strong. In addition Sorey and Rose were in a consensual pact with their Malaks so they could tap into more power than the exoricsts could in Berseria since those pacts were forced.

      I do enjoy detailed replies, so thank you for that!
      About Alisha; I never played all through Zestiria, so I didn't know that this never happens in game, but in the Anime that was released she is able to armitize with Edna. I guess I just assumed that this was basically the case for the game as well.
      I still find it a bit odd how tethering works, and the explanation about more mana = more malaks is also somewhat weak, as it doesn't account for the power of individual malak at all. Some of them are very clearly more powerful than others, but would that then mean the exorcist could tether one or 2 powerful malak or instead several weaker ones?
      Lastly, I just find the idea that armitization evolved on it's own is counter-intuitive. During Berseria there are a ton of exorcists, ranged in abilities but all the same, and later there are very few humans who can even SEE Seraph much less actually form any sort of bond with them. It would make more sense if, over time, the tethering of Malak to an Exorist was able to develop itself into the process of armitization. But given the fat that virtually nobody can see Seraph in Zestiria it's a little bit backward. With diminished contact and interaction you would expect that the abilities would decrease, not increase. It would have made more sense to me for armitization to have featured in Berseria and the weaker form of tethering to occur in Zestiria....but maybe I'm just being picky!!
      Thanks again though for the great answer, it's refreshing to find people on TH-cam who take the time to read and actually bother with a sensible reply!

      Not many people post things that can be really debated upon on my videos so it’s actually cool that this happens :D
      I never watched the Zestiria anime, although I should have while I was making this video. There were just too many episodes to watch lol. Back on topic though, I’m not sure how canon the anime is but I would imagine it’s not very? So I can’t really give my thoughts on Alisha being able to armatize.
      What you said now makes sense. In Berseria a Malaks power was never really gone over since a majority of the tethered Malaks were all generic elementals besides a handful. So I never thought about how tethering really works. It would make sense that people with higher mana would be able to tether with stronger and more Malaks compared to regular exorcists. Just looking at examples from Berseria, we see that the only people with unique tethered malaks are Shigure with Morgrim, Artorius with Inominat (among others), Teresa with Silva/Laphicet and Eleanor with Laphicet. These characters are powerful and are ranked highly (Praetor or higher) in the Abbey which does its rankings by mana, so we can infer that people with higher mana pools are able to control stronger and more malaks. Of course this is all observation and isn’t facts but it makes sense to me when looked at in this way. The reason there aren’t more unique malaks is due to resources to make them. In Zestiria I think most Malak and Human interactions are between Sorey and the crew. Since Sorey is the Shepard, I think it’s also reasonable to infer he has a very high mana pool and can control all the malaks (same thing with Rose minus being a shepard). Sorey might not be as strong as Artorius in the beginning but I think he gets there.
      As for the armatization perfection. Your point also makes sense. The knowledge or theory of armatization has been passed down for generations in the Malak community. If we consider this they have the time to study it and perfect it (make it more stable so you don’t die when crap hits the fan). However without having any practical experience or tests it’s pretty unlikely they’ll be very good at it. I think this can be seen with Sorey on his journey throughout the game. While he did get very powerful during his armatized state, he was not at his full potential. He didn’t have access to his blast attacks until after he completed the trials for that element. So we can see he was still growing and getting better at armatization as the game progressed.
      Anyway that’s just my thoughts. I think there is something I overlooked since I’m trying my best to remember things lol.

      This is super late, but the forming of pacts in Zestiria were fundamentally different from the ones made in Berseria. in Bersy, it was was the human that forced a pact upon a malak that had lost free will. In Zesty, the pact was made by the seraph with the consent of both seraph and human. The 'mana' exorcists are born with is probably the same as resonance. everyone is born with a certain amount of resonance, which determines how much a person can interact with malakhim/seraphim. another thing to note is that Lailah was already a prime lord when she made her pact with sorey. considering that powerful malakhim like zenrus and brunhilt were called prime lords in berseria, it shows that lailah herself was no ordinary seraph, which further makes her pact with sorey different from the tethering of malakhim in berseria. sorey's pacts with his squires and the other seraphim were even more different from the tethering, because it was lailah that performed the pacts with them, not sorey. Also, even though rose has the same capabilities as sorey in battle, shes never seen using the seraphim's power on the field. That we can assume is something only sorey can do as the shepherd, making him stronger than rose, at least in theory.
      As far as armatization is concerned, it was a lost arte first mastered by siegfried and brunhilt, the first oracle and prime lord. The formula for that arte was sealed in siegfried's gun and brunhilt's ring, which was later redeveloped by melchior. The reason why oscar's armatization was incomplete was because the malak did not consent to their pact. The two malakhim at the empyrean's throne emphasize the potential armatization can reach if both parties consent to the pact, which is why artorius was able to fully armatize with inominat. now what i find more intriguing is how teresa fused with the therion. thats something thats never discussed in either game, as far as i remember.
      Lastly, i dont see why alisha wouldnt be able to armatize in the dlc after sorey was sealed and rose became the shepherd. the whole idea was that sorey gets sealed, making his squires more powerful, which is why rose was able to make her own squire pact with alisha. considering that sorey's power was passed on to both rose and alisha (since they were both his squires), and the fact that alisha's pact with rose had no side effects on rose the way it did on sorey (which was a major reason why alisha didnt stay with sorey), it should be safe to assume that not only alisha's resonance increased, but rose also became a stronger shepherd than sorey was initially. so theres no reason why alisha wouldnt have been able to armatize then, especially when it made sense gameplay wise too. thats why i tend to consider the anime canon in that matter. there is the point that it probably needed more time for alisha's resonance to grow enough to be able to armatize, but i digress.

    A little late to the party, but other additions:
    There is a skit in Zestiria that mentions Maotelus created elixirs or something among those lines. A reference to the Berseria sidequest about creating an elixir to heal an NPC.
    There is also another skit or maybe NPC dialong that mentions a eight-headed dragon, thast would later be introduced as innominat real form.
    THe thing about these skits is they are both REALLY early game in Zestiria. Maybe they were a late addition or something, because they work so well creating lore.

      IIRC dragons are un-purifiable. Not even Laphicet could purify them when he turned all demons back into their original form. In the post-game content of ToB there's a sidequest where Eizen gets his hands on an antique book detailing a history of experiments on dragons. According to it every attempt to turn a dragon back into a malak was a complete failure.
