    Best video ever on this particular job. I have a Focus wagon that wanders all over the road and really bad in the rain. I will be following your steps to rectify this. Thank you for your sharing.

    Excellent video and great tip on greasing the puller/ press. The only thing I did differently, given I was working on the floor, was left the spring in and jacked the lower arm up to counter it. I also put a hacksaw through the middle of the bush to cut the collar, with the tool it popped out with almost no effort. Subscribed!

    Hi Dave I’ve picked up a fair bit of knowledge watching you over the years but I’ve a become a self proclaimed expert on these trailing arm bushes 😲 we do them for all the local garages who prefer the easy stuff - We always air hammer them out (a tip from Alan Howatt’s channel) and we only ever fit the genuine Ford parts - the motor factor ones of various makes always cause an issue - I was surprised to see the Meyle fit so well - Great video as always and I’ll be adopting the final painting tip from now on 👍🏻👍🏻

    Looks about the same as an 09 Focus. The only difference is the brake flex doesn't go all the way to the hub. Also my bushings were pressed in all the way. Mine was so wore the bushing came out of the sleeve, so I used an air chisel to get the sleeve out. I made a DIY press to put the new one in. Welded one together. Worked well. Didn't have to remove the spring. I jacked it up directly under the spring and put a block of wood in where you did.

    Another quality job done there Dave. I’ve done a fair few of those bushes myself have always dropped the whole lot down I like your method but I don’t have that type of spring compressor. I oil my forcing thread with engine oil but having watched your video definitely going to use the grease. Love the why don’t you just make 10 louder pause yea but this goes up to 12😂. Star of the show Poppy 👍

    Thanks for this great video! I went with my focus mk2.5 to replace my super rusty rear upper & lower arms and these bushes. Now the suspension almost doesn't work at all. Could it be because they didn't get the right angle when pressed back the new bushes in place? Cheers

    Torch might be helpful too, to heat the control arm up a bit, helps to ease bushings out, on this arm probably would be better to heat housing up right before mounting tool on

    Brilliant video!
    Probably beyond my DIY mechanical capabilities on my driveway without a spring compressor, or a bush removal tool or impact wrench.
    My 2006 focus estate just passed it's latest MOT with an advisory for rear subframe front bushes worn.
    No mention of which bushes, I'm assuming these ones you replaced are the front ones?
    How much would a garage typically charge for changing these if I supplied the bushes?
    Edit- I must add my OCD was kicking in when you painted the trailing arm but left the underside of the body around the mounting area!⚠️😲😳

    • @davesterl
      @davesterl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why do fords rust so much worse than other brands of cars ?

    • @vevos_
      @vevos_ 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cost-cutting and sometimes lacking quality control/production defects. It really isn't much more complicated than that most of the time. Ford knows how to prevent rust, like all major manufacurers by now. Some models have good rust protection, like the Mondeo MK4 and the latest Focus (it seems so far).
