    You put paint marks on for alignment but, there is a "C" shaped cut out on the trailing arm and a corresponding "C" shaped bulge just inside the outer edge of the bush. You simply align them. That is the proper way to do it. As the bush you were changing was broken, the flat metal you used for your marks may not have still been in the correct place. Also, the bush you are changing may have been changed already. If it was not fitted properly you would be making the same error that leads to premature failure. Good video apart from that.

      Wondering why he didn’t also just drop out the 18mm frame bolt for easier removal of control arm bolt

    Did both sides with my brother using floor jacks in 3 hours lately. He ended up taking the trailing arms off, was a big annoying but you work with the tools you have. Found it way easier than going under the car

    There's a mark on new bushes you line up to a little semi circle on the trailing arm . Little point marking the old bushes than could have possible moved in worst condition case

      Once you’re bought the tool and bushes you’ll be in for about £200 anyways so you’re really only paying an extra £50 for fitting and you won’t need to get your hands dirty. I wouldn’t bother doing this myself unless I can find or borrow the tool for very cheap.

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate it was very awkward I had to use big threaded bars with old bearings put them together hammers all the usual stuff it was not easy and I wouldn't really advise you doing it you can do more damage doing it this way the proper tool is the key I realise if you can't afford it that's a problem but also spending the money on buying the parts and damaging them or so will cost you money in the long run

    • @bodgitandleggitgarage
      @bodgitandleggitgarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also if they're not putting 100% correct your never get the tracking right damage tyres and in the long run end up costing you more money than may be getting someone to fit them for you

      Unfortunate this is one of the big problems of being a mechanic the tools you need to do the job properly or easier are very expensive and you don't necessarily get to use them all the time but it's a Catch 22 do you spend longer and possible damage in part or do you buy the tool
