Im not a parent but i do feel kids must be explained from an early age without parents having any awkwardness explaining too what is wrong and right. They will have a better understanding than teens and will remember things till teenagers or else they'll remain shy and awkward on the topic as u are.
There is also the analogical teaching method: "Kids on the backseats of cars cause accidents and, likewise, accidents on the backseats of cars cause kids".
I remember vividly how my mother answered this question: "Babies are born from happiness. When the mother and the father is happy to be with one another, and the family is happy, a baby will be born". To this day it remains the best answer I've known to this question.
Except... it's very much not true and eventually the kid will have to learn about how babies can be accidentally created unintentionally and be unwanted and all that. Or happiness alone doesn't prevent infertility

Actually, the wisest and best thing to do is not to send them off to avert anything. You tell them the uncomfortable stuff. Let them build trust in you. Let them know that these are not "unmentionables" when it comes to my parents. You know what would really be averted? A lot of the teenage mess and regrettable stuff that wreck young ones as they get into puberty and only have other unwise teens to guide them.

For me, all I knew was that babies grew in the mother's stomach and when the time comes, the baby comes out. When I was small I assumed that girls after a certain age automatically became pregnant had babies. So once I asked a middle aged nun where her kid was. She was taken aback. I also thought babies just broke out of the tummy and doctors stitched the tummy back. This was because the movies showed the mother screaming in pain holding her belly. And she lets out a big scream and then we hear baby cries. I always assumed that was when the stomach tore and the baby came out.
My parents would tell me things that make sense given a young child's innocence. Like my dad would just say "Mom's tummy" and if I asked how he said "I have special hands, when I rub mom's tummy just right she gets pregnant." Satisfied my curiosity. Then at age 13 my dad sat me down and talked to me about becoming a man, changes that will start to happen to my body, and about sex in general. Honestly I don't see why this is such a hard topic for people to discuss. Parents have been doing this for centuries, it's not a new topic for any of us.
I look forward to having that conversation with my future children. I’d focus mostly what happens biologically and not on the actual sex act (but I’d mention that too). Then I would move on to explain why people are attracted to each other and how love is related to reproduction. I find it really exciting, so I’m hoping that I would be able to get the children to listen and be amazed as well.

I remember vividly how my mother answered this question: "Babies are born from happiness. When the mother and the father is happy to be with one another, and the family is happy, a baby will be born". To this day it remains the best answer I've known to this question.
Except... it's very much not true and eventually the kid will have to learn about how babies can be accidentally created unintentionally and be unwanted and all that. Or happiness alone doesn't prevent infertility

The best way is to ask them what they think is the answer, and they will give some really weird answer and then you say good job XD Obviously that doesn't really work with late teens. Most kids find out through school friends anyway. Phew crisis averted, just send ur kids to school XD

Let them build trust in you.
Let them know that these are not "unmentionables" when it comes to my parents.

My mom told me about sperm, eggs, the uterus, the womb, and how they were formed. But never told me how exactly the sperm got to the egg, even tho I had asked a billion times.

Later (I was around age 5) when my little brother was born they told me that my mom wanted it and then it just grew in mummy’s tummy.
When I was like 7 or 8 i watched a movie where it was explained. I understood the whole sperm and fertilization thing. But bc they just showed naked people kissing under a sheet in the movie, I thought that french kissing would make a woman pregnant and that sperm was produced in the salivary glands 😂😂

For me, all I knew was that babies grew in the mother's stomach and when the time comes, the baby comes out. So I grew up thinking the baby somehow ripped open the mother's stomach to escape her body, which is why she would be in so much pain. As you could imagine, I didn't know anything about private parts.

When I was small I assumed that girls after a certain age automatically became pregnant had babies. So once I asked a middle aged nun where her kid was. She was taken aback. I also thought babies just broke out of the tummy and doctors stitched the tummy back. This was because the movies showed the mother screaming in pain holding her belly. And she lets out a big scream and then we hear baby cries. I always assumed that was when the stomach tore and the baby came out.
My parents would tell me things that make sense given a young child's innocence.
Like my dad would just say "Mom's tummy" and if I asked how he said "I have special hands, when I rub mom's tummy just right she gets pregnant." Satisfied my curiosity. Then at age 13 my dad sat me down and talked to me about becoming a man, changes that will start to happen to my body, and about sex in general.
Honestly I don't see why this is such a hard topic for people to discuss. Parents have been doing this for centuries, it's not a new topic for any of us.

I look forward to having that conversation with my future children. I’d focus mostly what happens biologically and not on the actual sex act (but I’d mention that too). Then I would move on to explain why people are attracted to each other and how love is related to reproduction. I find it really exciting, so I’m hoping that I would be able to get the children to listen and be amazed as well.

Well my case was totally it was like i ws embeeded with this knowledge from birth and never talked to parents about it cause of embarasment of knowing so called word 'sex'.

When I have kids I'll just tell them. No bullcrap, no lies just tell them. It's not something we should be ashamed of and if we make it too mysterious, kids will try to find out themselves and land in trouble.
Babies grow from a tiny blob. Its so small you can't see it. It's made inside Mummy's tummy when a little bit of Daddy and a little bit of Mummy join up. The baby grows inside Mummy's tummy, and she gets fatter and fatter. Then after a long time - after the seasons change three times - the baby gets squeezed out of a VERY stretchy hole between mummy's legs - it takes a long time and it's painful and hard work. This often happens in hospital, and children aren't usually allowed to watch. That's where babies come from. It's not normally polite to talk about the hole, or the seed, or the little bit of Mummy or the little bit of Daddy, until you're grown up. Only with Mummy or Daddy or a teacher, and when you grow up - only after you're twenty years old - you can talk about it with the person you fall in love with and want to marry.
