My wife and I met Justin at the Four State Guitar show in Springfield Mo. Very nice humble guy. He did a solo set at the end of the day for close to two hours. Take it from me, you definitely want to see him live. He is the real thing.

I've never seen nor heard of such! This guy is amazing! And so are the instruments! The blues have never been heard like this, at least in my world!!! I'm a big blues fan, my go to music. Some mainstream, but mostly a little off the main road. But now, I'm WAY out there, with this young man, and I may never come back!!! I've never heard the blues as rich as this. It's like it's oozing from my pores, feels like hot oil running down the middle of my back, just warm enough to give a chill, making the hair on my arms bristle. Does that make sense? I'm overwhelmed. Amazing.
Here's somebody who knows how to make MUSIC, rather than simply being able to play an instrument. There IS a difference. He hears musical possibilities in what most players would dismiss as a joke or a gimmick.
Of course he hears the possibilities, they're all guitars just with more/less strings, or weird shapes, or no fretboard. The underlying concept doesn't change, it would be surprising for any decent guitarist _not_ to be able to play these.

Nowadays, they are called stars. If the power went out at a Hollywood dinner party, entertainers could entertain the crowd. Stars would need a script. Justin is a musician. He can find music anywhere. While the "stars" would still be looking for a sound man and their guitar tech, Justin would have turned a ruler, a Kleenex box and a spool of fishing line into music.
Every guitarist has his own style .....Eddy Van Halen ....Vai ....Satriani.....May.....SRV...Gary Moore .......Now .......Justin Johnson .......each have their own unique style ......all great to listen too ....yes I have them all and more

He would be. Problem is that Fender can't market a shovel. If kids started idolizing this guy and began making their own instruments, where would that leave all of the big name guitar manufacturers? I'm pretty sure that even Gibson's custom shop wouldn't be interested unless they could get the patents on broom handles and cigar boxes. Simply put, the music industry isn't going to promote this guy because all he has to sell is his music. That's why his fans have to do it. It doesn't cost a dime to forward this video to people who may have never heard of Justin Johnson. Unconventional artists need to take unconventional ways to the top.

BB king was once asked when did you begin to play guitar. He said when he was a little boy he would play buy using the spring that closes the screen door. What a wonderful career he had.
