There are very few Vlogs that I watch in their entirety, you have such a gentle way of sharing that just draws me in. I use many mediums as well, so jumping from one to the other actually seems natural.
Thank you so much! I was worried that this art vlog would feel disjointed so this is amazing to read 😆 The "medium hopping" brings me joy and energy - there're too many great mediums out there to limit ourselves, right?
I enjoyed this video so much Evy! I didn’t think it was disjointed at all. In fact, it was so nice to see various projects and different styles of work you create on a regular basis - a real peak into an artist’s life. I love these chilled out style videos with no specific theme too. Please make more of these!! You’re one of my favorite artists on TH-cam ❤
Another lovely art vlog! I love how the drinks turned out. I'm sure your client will be very happy! I actually went to an art supply store last Saturday to grab some more pencils after watching you sketch in your previous video. I hope to sketch in color more often now. And I have tons of unfinished stuff lying around and can never decide what to work on next, so I kinda feel your dilemma. I'm looking forward to your next videos and paintings/sketches!
Thank you so much! I feel like I could talk really honestly about how my mind works (or doesn't haha) when it comes to tackling new projects. And yes, the client was happy with those drinks. :) I'm so happy you felt infected by my pencil love! Colored pencils are freeing to me, very intuitive and nearly impossible to erase, so they force commitment. Btw, one tip I've learned that works for my own decision paralysis: I'll prepare my desk, including materials but ESPECIALLY the unfinished drawing I want to work on in the evening, so that when I get up in the morning, I can immediately and mindlessly start with it to get into the flow. Maybe that would help?
@@evydraws-art Thank you for the kind advice! I usually leave my unfinished work on my desk, but once I'm out of "the zone" I usually have a hard time finding the motivation to get back into it. Especially because I work long hours at my day job and it is often days or even weeks before I have the energy for art again. So I end up moving my unfinished work to the side to start on whatever I feel more like painting. Often takes a bit of forcing myself to get back into a project to finish it. I have an easier time with smaller paintings or drawings that I can finish in one session. But maybe it'll help if I start to think of my unfinished paintings as warm-up for the next project. ☺
@@WingedJedi oh yeah, the zone - I know that feeling! But also, I want to make very clear: In my videos, I speak from the position of privilege of this being my work - sometimes it might be "boring" marketing work, sometimes commissions, sometimes personal, but I get to sit down at a desk and draw or design in some way every single day. I don't want to make anyone feel bad about their limited time or feeling like they don't get enough art done! Art in your free time should be fun and fulfilling ❤ I hope you have some time for yourself and your paintings soon☺
First time here, i think I've found a gem- this channel! Lovely vlog, loved the pace the calmness of your voice, your lovely artstyle even though you say it isn't defined yet (i think you're on the right track!!), the limited color palette is such a great idea to not get too overwhelmed with choices!! It inspired me to try creating something myself ❤😊
Thank you so much! This makes me incredibly happy - especially since you mention the art style and the narration. I feel like taking the time to make this video and collect my thoughts actually helped me reflect and feel more optimistic - so definitely on the right track 😊 I hope the inspiration to create something stays strong! Go for it! ♥
I like seeing your vlogs on different topics every week!! Variety is interesting and life certainly doesn't have a single theme, all sorts of things are happening every day. Your coffee shop menu illustrations look so good they would bring me to that damn coffee shop😭😭 I'm interested to see your drawtober stuff too -- this'll be the first year when I participate in inktober, since I just recently bought some inks 👀
Thank you so much! 🥰 Life not having a "theme" was really the big realization for me when filming and editing this one - maybe because most of my videos so far were shorter or more focused! From coffee to vampires, I enjoy painting it all haha Very excited that you're participating for the first time! While I'm not following a prompt list, there's a unique energy to October that can be incredibly motivating. What kind of inks did you get? ^^
@@evydraws-art I can imagine content creators could have the same problem that artists have -- that urge to make your sketchbooks neat and planned and organized, and how artists market themselves by a particular niche and specific artistic style for successful business. I see vloggers, and more broadly youtubers, want to stand out by having a theme or niche of their own to promote to audiences, to stand out and be recognizable, which is a good marketing strategy by all means -- but it does drain and tire us when we need to force it against all of life's variety. So I totally get that you'd like your vlogs to follow a neat chronological timeline of development, but life just throws random stuff at us often, and rather than swimming against the river's course, I think it's good to go along with that variety in vlogs too! And yess, there's something about October that gets my inspiration flowing too! Maybe it's the weather, when lively summer has just ended and you'd rather stay warm and comfy at home, and it's quiet because nobody is outside either, and it's not as bright in the sky, and rains sound relaxing through our windows -- it's similar to that serene feeling when you stay up late at night, or wake up early in the morning, when the peace and quiet gets you thinking and inspiration comes through without distraction! October is just the month for uninterrupted inspiration, at least for me hehe Recently I got some Ohuhu ink markers, that package of 12 sizes (which, I didn't realize until I received it, is quite an intimidating range of ink marker sizes for a begginner💀). Then my sister was cleaning out her old stuff and gifted me her unused dip pen alongside some unused inks, one small bottle of black Kohinoor ink and one small bottle of black Winston & Newton ink. The latter one shocked me, like isn't that brand expensive??? How and why does my sister own it, and she doesn't even remember😭 well, I'll put it to good use nevertheless next month!!
Exactly! There's also this barrier between creating the art and then creating the "content" that gets shared online. The time it takes to edit something, for example, taking away the immediacy or natural feeling... and I've never been able to restrict myself to a "niche" haha. I guess we just gotta lean into the variety! Does it get nice and cool where you live in October? 😊 We still have a heat wave going here in Korea, so I'm hoping for at least a few less humid and oppressive feeling days in October! 😭 But it's also a month without any national holidays and festivities, so just more time to dive into art and personal projects. I'm really so excited for autumn in general! And that's an amazing selection of materials to experiment with during that month! Especially comparing the different inks and if there's a big quality difference - it's so funny how some people have the most random fancy art supplies lying around. A friend of mine had a set of six copics at home that she got to highlight text of all things...
New subbie!! I loved watching you paint the coffee cups 🤩 so soothing!! This was overall a very relaxing video and very inspiring to me as well. Thank you for being you ❤✨
Hey, Evelyne! Thank you for sharing this cozy and inspiring vídeo and I can't wait to follow your october adventures with inktober. Funny that you mentioned zorn palette, because I was practicing some color palettes using only these 4 colors and I got really impressed and how much we can do with them. The coffee drawings got so pretty! I would love to go to a cafe and see a menu with these paitings!
Hi! ❤️ Thank you so much, and I'm very excited to start drawing... October 1st can't come quickly enough! And the Zorn palette really is so versatile, and every time I use it, I learn a bit more about controlling color mixing. Are you using them with oils? The coffee illustrations had me crave caffeine in all forms! :)
I don't have an iPad (Samsung Galaxy instead, with Clip Studio) but I also own a scanner for work and Photoshop for the initial editing/cleaning up of the scan. I hope that helps!
