It's worth noting that much of this square mile is taken up by the Arizona State Hospital, an Arizona Department of Corrections facility, the Maricopa County Hospital, the County Annex mental hospital, and the largest Maricopa County Health clinic.

The boundaries of the deadliest areas in Phx would be from Van burean to Roosevelt, from 24st to 7st. The gangs have been present in the area since the 70’s in which the oldest gang (9st) dates back since the 30’s. There’s many gangs that had their affiliations there. WBP 21st, 18st, 12st, 8st. ES posse 18st, Duppa villa pj’s, La familia, Garfield & 9st. Most of the gangs may not be there as much but those are the gangs that were responsible for much of the violent crimes in the boundary that I listed.

No! It's the drug's that draw people on them to those areas. If they were sober they wouldn't be there. And there's people very street urban cultured and capitalize off of addicts. Till they gentrify that area, that's where they'll stay. But what about good people who are living there. Where will they go when they can't afford their places no more. Drugs destroy everything. And after that junkies are still in the street urban culture that made them. Just somewhere else in the city. Where other poor people come together in somebody's house to pray in Jesus' name for them.

    JUST A THOUGHT!!
I recall hearing on the news, the city is thinking of renovating abandoned hotels to assist homeless with affordable housing.
I sure hope this area isn't the intended neighborhood that will be thought to solve some homeless housing problems!
If, if in fact it is...this option will definitely not help solve homelessness, as the homeless will be furthermore led into high risk crime area, where they'll be targeted for victimization, increasing crime/Homicide within that area, as newer populations of homeless people have limited to fixed incomes. Making them targets for theft and further systematic community abuse.
Please don't let this area be the solution for unforseen homeless persecution, the risk will outweighs the TEMPORARY SOLUTION!
    Homeless, retired, disabled, SENIOR!

It shouldn’t be hard to clean up such a small area. Demolish the abandoned buildings, bring in more cops, and replace the old buildings with new housing and business. You bring in more cops; businesses will feel more comfortable being there; more money flows in the area; more jobs in the area; more people can afford housing; less homelessness and less crime. Cops and businesses, the easiest way to make an area safe

I'm being followed closely and I've been hiding from a powerful cartel from that area, for witnessing a ding dong ditch that happened repeatedly and constantly for about 15 days in the month of July 2023. My neighbor struggled to catch those kids (probably that cartel's kids) for as long as I started hanging out at his house, it happened in the last week right after my family and I were already moving to Tolleson AZ, just few days before we completely hand over the keys to the apartment office, ever since that incident my life has been definitely changed to isolation, paranoia, limited outings, going outside by myself because I know his gang be stalking me and showing it to me with all types of life threatening signs, in that same exact week I reported this to Phoenix Police Department Office on July 26th around 10:30am, I was neglected and ridiculed, instead I was arrested for no apparent reason, no apparent reason the 3 cops I reported this to brought something you'd not believe I would go to jail for, that I had traffic ticket warranty that wasn't a reason before I made my report, I'm very scared that if they don't kill me they'll go for my family. I have no money at the moment and I really need help to reach the higher ranks officers or an Attorney General.

Ramon White. Not 10 murders in 2 years in the whole city this was 10 homicides in 1 square mile not to mention all the other shooting that weren’t homicides the county hospital is right on that block with one of the best trauma centers in the country my gf is one of the nurses they save lives everyday so if there wasn’t a hospital right on that block there would be a whole lot more then 10 homicides this is where it from it don’t matter where you’re from this neighborhood is not friendly I lost more friends before I was 18 then my parents had throughout their entire lives we have more guns here then most places our state doesn’t require a permit to conceal or anything and if you aren’t a felon most of the time you can walk in a gun store and out with a gun in an hour so the criminals break into homes and cars and get guns all the time our streets are flooded with guns it’s just that the bad guys know most of the good guys have guns so you don’t see criminals really committing crimes against civilians it’s USUALLY bad guys on bad guys.

There more like 150 give or take in the whole city nowadays used to be well over 200 also Phoenix is so spread out compared to Detroit that 10 murders in a couple years in one square mile is a lot per capita when a square mile in AZ is like 10,000 max in that neighborhood I’d say around 4-5,000 compared to Detroit being much denser or at least was denser idk sense half that city is a bando. But yea Detroit city limits has a much higher homicide than Phoenix but I would say when include the metros there actually very similar per capita
