I’m now officially sad that Angelo Junior is not a real character. 😢

But...when would Regina have been pregnant with him? That was never said 😊

I enjoy this episode. It is interesting how different life would be for them but I'm surprised Angelo still passed away. I feel like in an AU like this he would still be around. They could have even done something where he finds out about what happened to them and tries to help though he isn't sure he fully believes the story. Because let's be honest that would be an Angelo thing. I like the addition of Angelo jr would have been nice to keep him around. Also side note might have been fun to explore this change in thier lives for a few episodes.

I love how they had it silent for Bay when she first woke up like we were dead with her.

Bay being the deaf girl was extremely hard to buy. I mean, if she was the one who caught meningitis, she wouldn't speak perfectly clearly.
The cree could've at least made her just sign to play deaf since she evidently couldn't speak the deaf speech like the way Katie had to practice it to play Daphne. And honestly there's no real guarantee that Bay automatically would've been deaf if the switch hadn't happened because meningitis is a bacteria, it's not genetic.

Actually, the reason Bay didn't have an accent is because she would've had extensive speech therapy

I think the real reason is the actress could not do a deaf accent, unlike Katie. So the producers decided for her to do her own voice, and they wrote in she had extensive speech therapy.

And Bay would've been exposed to meningitis the same way Daphne was.

    • @darr12100

I think the reason Bay doesn't have an accent is because she and Daphne still retain memories of their previous reality, which is also why Daphne is still fluent in ASL even though she is in an alternate reality where she did not lose her hearing.

Only when you used to be hearing. If you haven't known any different, it's just normal. For somebody who has only known being deaf, waking up hearing would be scary. That's why Daphne was uneasy and confused.
I was actually a bit disappointed that they didn't show the massive information overload Daphne would have felt with her brain trying to adjust to all the new sounds at once. She actually should have been super sensitive to sound trying to adjust. But I guess that can be attributed to how in this reality her brain was already used to it so it wasn't as overwhelming as it would have been in real life. That and it's a TV show lol.

I think it's probably because if they would show that their lives would have been wonderful if the girls hadn't been switched, then it might make the "real" show appear pointless, or at least less interesting. They want the audience to prefer the switched reality and therefore they want to show us that the switch was "meant to be" and that their lives were better for it.
In a way it does make sense that a lot would be different if the switch hadn't happened. Bay and Daphne are obviously two different people and play different parts in their family. Let's say that you have a sister. Imagine a world where you still had a sister, but that sister was a completely different person with a different personality and different interests. That would probably change the family dynamic quite a bit, maybe in unexpected ways, both good and bad.
It's a good question why Angelo is still dead in this episode. I guess it must be that he still had an aneurysm, but in the "real" show they said that his anger from fighting with Regina caused the aneurysm to rupture at that time. In an alternate reality where the switch never happened, it would make more sense for Angelo to still be alive. Sure, he and Regina could still have fought, but probably not about the same things. Also, if the aneurysm hadn't ruptured while Angelo was driving, perhaps he could have been saved.
Another thing I think is interesting is that in all of these alternate reality scenarios and episodes, it's assumed that if the switch hadn't happened, Daphne would be hearing and Bay would be deaf. I agree that it's likely that Daphne would be hearing. But there's no guarantee that Bay would be deaf. In the "real" world (of the show), Daphne went deaf after getting sick with meningitis when she was three. Since meningitis is a bacteria that you can catch, there's a chance that Bay may not have caught it if she had been in Daphne's place. Now, we don't know when and where exactly Daphne caught the bacteria. But let's say she got it from another child on the playground. If it had been Bay, perhaps she would have played with different kids or perhaps she would have thrown a tantrum that morning or perhaps she had to stay home because she had a cold. You never know. And even if Bay had gotten meningitis, there's no guarantee that she actually had gone deaf. Regina said that she was told that the antibiotics given to Daphne could make her lose her hearing. But everyone's body reacts differently. Bay may have responded differently to the antibiotics. She could have recovered completely and remained hearing, or she could have gotten deaf like Daphne, or she could have suffered even worse side effects. You never know, but I just think they should have mentioned that there is no way of knowing for sure if Bay would have gotten deaf.
I know that the show has ended now, but if they had done yet another alternate reality episode, I think it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the girls had been switched back to their birth families at age three. In "Ecce Mono", Regina contacts the hospital in 1998 as soon as she discovered that Daphne wasn't biologically hers, and the hospital tracks down the Kennishes. A judge then gives the Kennishes custody of both Bay and Daphne. I think it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if that judge had decided to switch the girls back instead; if he had given Daphne back to the Kennishes and Bay back to Regina.

@@courtneycotov1642 I think it was to show that you can wish for a different reality but some things no matter what you do will remain the same. Angelo death had nothing to do with the switch directly. He got into a fight with Regina and then race off in his car, getting into a car accident and having a brain bleed so them not being switch didn't prevent his death.

    • @Artemis820
