Hi there! As we previously discussed.... Here is the link showing off my solo variant for the game: th-cam.com/video/uDCqyylxRwA/w-d-xo.html You can play with or without the Recon expansion. Enjoy!
Very good, I really like the 3 minute concept... Helped many times already, thanks for that! .. one question: is there a hand card limit? Like, MUST a player discard the cards that remain unplayed after a turn ends or can he/she keep them and draw five new ones so there could be more than 5 on one's hand at the start of the round? I couldnt find that out so far..
Its been a while since i played this one, but if i recall correctly, you discard any remaining cards at the end of each turn. But you shouldn't have any left anyway, as cards left over from the early part of the turn should be used in the confrontation over the central resource.
@@3MBG thanks, yes that Makes Sense. We've Just played once so far... And I had the feeling that it COULD make sense to save cards (Like pills or a shovel) for the next round when the opponent seems to have way more cards left to fight, like, giving up the fight to keep a card... Or to make your opponent believe you have very good cards and dont even need to play them all ... So he/she might "give Up" the fight and do Other actions instead... The german Rules say nothing about that. But I guess The buildings kind of wouldnt make sense If holding cards back was possible...thanks for the reply!
Checked the English rulebook online, page 4, phase 1. "discard all cards from the previous round" www.riograndegames.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Arctic-Scavengers-Recon-Rules-1.pdf
Still very much enjoying Arctic Scavenger, and recently got an old classic along with all its expansion, Eminent Domain, which I've found very cool! And our favorite, Shards of Infinity!
Language dependency meter - should you pick a copy in another language? 2.5/5p Icon/colour/number dependent, text dependent, reading dependent - 1/2p (depending on modules) Minimal private information / Minimal verbal communication - 0p Available rule book in different languages - 0.5p Zero cultural/political aggression - 1p Multiple modern mechanisms - (-0.5)p Basic game should work, but rule books are not easy to find. Depending on the group.
@UCFkpP6mxunxD4unmS3_64aQ Yes, but it seemed in this video you downed it slightly at the end. Based on your top 100 and Shut Up & Sit Down going crazy for this game in their review, I went and got it because I love deck builders and the theme seems great. I hope I like it. Thanks for all your videos!
@@3MBG Great! Going to Essen? If so have a great time. I got good news. I live near and work in Indianapolis and Gen Con just signed on there for several more years because of the announcement to build 2 new large hotels by the convention center.
I kinda down all games at the end. its my thing about trying to give a balanced set of pros and cons, even for games I dig. Even terraforming mars, which was my number 2. has a negatives section. I think its good to think about who wouldn't like a game as well as who would like it.
Nah, being in New Zealand, a trip to Essen is a major expense, same with Gencon. One of my "game testers" (the people I play with and get feedback from) is going to promote his game Architects of the West Kingdom though.
i really like the format of your videos, it's a great idea, enough for me to subscribe

@@3MBG ha! Thanks for helping out! That leaves no doubts :)
Arctic Scavengers, more interactive deck builder, or pretender to the crown of deck building held by Dominion?
I recommend checking out Aeon's End if you haven't yet. Amazing cooperative deck builder.
For sure, it's on the very very long list of games to check out :)
Every deck builder I have played has been more interesting than Dominion (except Ascension, ew). Dominion is the progenitor, but not the king.
@@SpoonyBard88 Yes, AC may be more interesting than Dn but... I think the gameplay in D is better.

can this game be co.op ?
Not that I am aware of. It's very much an adversarial game.
I'm actually working on a homebrew co-op version of the game... I will have a video ready soon-ish.
I thought this was in your top 100?
It is. I've played it a fair bit since this review as well so my opinion of it may have gone up.
