I think it appeals so much because this seems like such a budget thing to do and not many people can drop 20k into a twin turbo LS stroker so it suits a wider audience.
would be interesting to see how much faster with some suspension mods.

The last Barrina video probably had so many views as a lot of people in Europe can relate to this car. Even I had one here in the UK!! But they're called Vauxhall Corsa's here. XD
It’s a Vauxhall Corsa in the UK and the Redtop is a popular swap. Also used in a lot of mk2 Escorts and the odd Mini.

Love the vid, budget stuff is way more relevant than mega dollar cars. Scotty has brought a real practical and relatable element to Street Machine that was always missing.

Thanks to your Barina episode too , I've bought a Corsa B (my seventh in all). But going for a X18XE1 swap. Not as much power, but should be a entertaining little nugget regardless!

X18XE1 is perfect in Corsa B, not so much different in performance with C20XE, since less weight on the front. Been running X18XE1 in mine Corsa B for 5 years now, and still is alot of entertaining drives. Have some autocross and track videos of mine here on my channel

Just for learning more about the swap. Along with how they perform.
They seem to go very well. Plus the engines are stupidly cheap to pick up.
Plus it's quite a straight forward swap too. With nothing more than mostly OE parts needed.
C20XE's here are getting a bit on the expensive side.
Blow up an 1800, I can pick up a Z18XE for next to nothing (for the head and block), in no time.

That's exactly the plan.
Found out the 1.2 16v flywheels from a Corsa C fits perfectly 👌. EPC told me they are the exact same and far easier to get.
Most of the potential problems I've had. GM already had a solution on a another car. So it's going to be neat and cheap 👍.
I built a 1970 Mini with a QED XE back in 2002. Twin 45s, SBD ecu, TranX lsd & all the usual goodies riding on 6x10s! Was a torque steery little bugger all the way to 110kmh, then it straightened up all the way to 225kmh! 250bhp (186kw) at the flywheel & weighed in at 560kgs! Used it for 3 years as a daily... young & stupid at the time!! Cheers. Leigh.
I keep telling people motor sport does not need to cost a fortune. Hopefully the Barina will help more people see this because motor sports is ridiculously good fun and you will meet a whole bunch of great people along the way.

Guys, I have at home an exhaust manifold to suit fitting a T25 turbo onto one of the original C14 or 16SE motors. Only pre-requisite is that it can’t have power steering or air con. Let me know if this may be of interest as I no longer have a use for it. I also know there is a kit able to be purchased out of Europe that will allow a 2.5 or 2.6 V6 to fit into an SB Barina/Combo. Would love to see that eventuate too. 😂😂
the v6 is only good for drag, too expensive to tune too.
Soulware3D why would it need to be tuned any different to std in that small body? Just put a std ecu on it and have fun! You’re overthinking it!
@@Techheadzc32 hah, i suppose, they are decent engines, i've had every version apart from the 3.2 (the 3.0 is a better engine than the 3.2 imo) but the v6 is a heavy engine and you cant throw it about like the 2.0. braking distance would be almost doubled so they'd definatley have to do brakes and suspension. it would be much better to put the money into that redtop as it will make more power and more sense for that small car. I get where you are coming from though, even in the vauxhall vectra the 2.5 v6 will eventially push that car to 250-260kph.
I have a x30xe here with a police tuned ecu out of an omega, that thing was nearly 2 tonne and got to 260kph with ease.

Soulware3D I did own a 3.2. Loved it! But they’re best served with the F50 5spd Manual box. Could only be found on the Vectra CDXi.

Great video man, you should check Chiappone Racing, he swaps Corsas(Barinas) with 2.4 liter Vectra engines for drag racing. They literally rip! I love this hillclimb one it's epic. Hope you mod the suspension so it drives way better.

Needs that diff sorted out. It would be more challenging to drive but lots faster. Suspension will be cheaper and cheap fun is what this is all about.

Go budget turbo kit and better suspension, maybe some custom wide body work too mount on wider tires all around and lowering the car.

I always knew this car would be popular, but plenty of people still struggle with the idea
We got those as a streetlegal setup.. also turbo motors... good fun... but 150 hp is not that speciall anymore.. start converting it to a turbo.. that setup can do 550 hp streetlegal... although cops will start to hate you when your pulling away when they go flat out..

sort that suspension out and try and reduce that body roll and you would have a quick little car in the corners. definitely has the torque for exiting.

bring back the barina and lets do a bigblock SBcombo redtop c20xe ,f20 gearbox with f18 fithgear's and a BlackLine HLF040 LSD. make a real statement and practical for daily driver

think its a populair video because more people can spare enough budget to get one of them and do the conversion , the high performance japaneese cars , corvettes , mustangs and camaros are actually pretty expensive to buy and keep going
think a few good upgrades would be : a bucketseat (save youre armstrength for steering and not to keep youreself in youre seat)
rollcage (will stiffen the car up some too if you connect it to the top suspension mounts )
good braceplate for youre clutchfoot ( again to keep you in youre seat )
a full race harnes
(i think for the hobby type non sanctioned races you can use a lot of the over the date or old regulation tech stuff from pro racers )

bigger brakes too (astra gsi maibe they have rear diskbrakes )
i have seen these cars with 5 lug hubs brakes and rims from the bigger cars like the opel calibra , a lot of that stuff mixes and matches together like there made for the car
different cams might work , degreeing the stock cams by putting adjustable timing belt wheels on them might work as well , a spagetty exhaust (equal length tube header) would too
there some log style manifolds that have slightly shorter or longer runners wish might work well with the stock injection system
seen some good results with weber 45 DCOE carbs too though there finniky , they might not fit in youre car and take more time to tune ...... there basicly a controlled fuel leak intoo the motor and never work as well in different elevations and weather as electronic injection
can install a smaller pulley on the crank and bigger pulley on the dynamo to reduce some of the drag on the engine
could do a little gasket matching between intake and head and do some manual pocket porting on the head and maibe install heavier springs
have someone rework the valveseats and the valves with a 3 angle job
lighten the flywheel
all to get it to rev a little higher ad respond faster
most of those engine adaptations can be done with wat you have at the moment and aside from the valvejob with the engine still assembled in the car some take some time and some require some searching in the vauxhal partcatalog or the local wreckers
