    About World's Deadliest:
    World’s Deadliest Predators is a new series that looks at most riveting moments of animal predation, breaking down the struggle for survival and supremacy into five action-packed episodes. Top Hunters focuses on the most feared animals in their class: animals at the top of their food chain; the hunters who are prey to no other animal. Killer Packs illustrates when predators multiply their advantage over prey by banding with others of their species to hunt. Lethal Weapons shows that the physical attributes and built-in concealed weapons have the ability to make an animal a top predator. Our Superpowers episode focuses on the animals that see, hear, and smell better than any others…and that relative to their size on are the fastest and strongest creatures on the planet. And whether it is over food, territory or sex, animals go to war within their species and against other species…Battles dissects these conflicts, from the strategy to the play-by-play. These five episodes bring together dozens of species, which are extraordinary, savage, and the World’s Deadliest Predators.

    Another reason the snake wasn't able to bite the eagle properly is that the eagle always takes its prey skyward. The further you move upwards the cooler it gets and the snake being a cold blooded animal needs heat to be at its peak. So not only does the eagle have vision, strength and swiftness, it also has a great mind. God's amazing creation.

    Fun fact:
    Black mamba is actually the fastest known snake, it can slither up to 20 km/h/ 5.4 m/s. That's about as fast as a sprinting horse.
    It is pretty venomous, but it rarely attacks humans.

    Can someone explain this to me? If the snake has venom in its body, how can it be safe to eat for the eagles?

    • @cadethumann8605
      @cadethumann8605 9 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Only blood cells are affected by venom. The digestive system is a closed system, so the venom cannot harm. When you are bitten, the venom has reach the blood cells, thus infecting. However, unless if there is a cut in your stomach, you will be fine.

    • @RayJLau1
      @RayJLau1 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cade Thumann Interesting.. you're telling me I can drink venom and not be affected?

    • @cadethumann8605
      @cadethumann8605 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RayJLau Truth be told, I actually just learned about the whole "venom only harms blood cells" by the time I told you. I am not sure if you will be fine if you drink the venom. I will assume you will be fine though, as predators to snakes seem to be fine when they eat them, venom included.

    • @RayJLau1

    • @dcompiler
      @dcompiler 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Only their venom is poisonous. Their bodies can be eaten. If you don't have any lesions in your mouth or digestive tract, your body can also safely breakdown the venom and digest it without issue since it is a protein.

      Venom you can drink snake venom beacuse it only effects bloodcells or nervs but the digestive system is a closed system like getting it on ur hands or skin it wont do a thing.

    Interesting, I didn't realise there were toxic snakes, how come the eagle didn't die if it was toxic?

    • @gedgwapo
      @gedgwapo 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      it requires effort for them to produce venom and most venomous snake bites are mostly dry bites. You're unlucky if you get bitten with venom

    • @etmax1
      @etmax1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      gedgwapo gedgalvez
      I think you missed my thinly veiled tease over inappropriate adjectives :-)
      BTW, very few venomous snakes dry bite, the King Cobra does but virtually all of its smaller cousins go for gold. India has 45,000+ snake bite deaths per year. I live in Australia where there are over 100 venomous snake species and they all try to give a deadly bite also. There are around 10 back fanged species that also don't dry bite but being back or rear fanged makes them less effective at getting sufficient venom into the bite wound. This is still not a dry bite! Global statistics suggest around half of all snake bites globally are envenoming and around 125,000 are fatal, so given that not all venomous snakes are lethal to humans this suggests most venomous snake bites result in venom being injected.

      Not sure who you were replying to, but venom IS used as a defence by venomous animals all the time. When a venomous snake bites a would be predator it's thinking of its next meal but rather I'm hurting you because I'm shit scared of becoming dinner. That's defence.
      I might also add that eating the venom glands of a venomous creature can be deadly, all it takes is a mouth injury and you're in deep trouble. It's one of the reasons why they discourage people from sucking on snake bite, apart from the case that it is rarely effective. Yes venom is mostly only dangerous in the blood stream, but there's more than one way to get there.
      Back to the eagle, for the eagle to die the snake has to be poisonous as you say, OR it has to bite the eagle and the venom has to be effective against eagles (more than likely the case). I've watched numerous animals devouring venomous prey BTW and many avoid the venom glands, presumably because they don't want the venom getting into a wound.

      Your welcome, I'll see if I can dig up a few

    • @rtisom
      @rtisom 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I may be wrong, but I think the reason may be that the ingested venom(s), which are protein/peptide in composition, in the gastrointestinal tract of the eagle, are broken down by intestinal enzymes into constituent amino acids, before the venom can actually be absorbed into the eagle's blood stream. Probably if the snake managed to actually bite the eagle while being carried away in mid-air, the eagle wouldn't do very well.

      toxin:
      any poison produced by an organism, characterized by antigenicity in certain animals and high molecular weight, and including the bacterial toxins that are the causative agents of tetanus, diphtheria, etc., and such plant and animal toxins as ricin and snake venom.
      poison:
      a substance with an inherent property that tends to destroy life or impair health
      venom:
      the poisonous fluid that some animals, as certain snakes and spiders, secrete and introduce into the bodies of their victims by biting, stinging, etc.
