hello im looking at properties in calgary and was wondering why many detached house use plastic or aluminum siding? i figured with the cold temperatures more sturdy materials such as brick or stone would be used but that doesnt seem to be the case
Well, we are realtors and not builders but certainly brick is more money, takes longer to install and requires a higher level of skill to install the cost of labour is an issue. We certainly see brick and stone on "higher priced" homes. The amount brick required to cover the same area as aluminum siding is greater. Brick would certainly wear longer and be more resistant to damage than alumimum. Like most things there is a trade off but cost is a big factor.
