- The new PNR railcars are purchased from PT Inka of Indonesia. The trains are on test run from Tutuban to FTI and vice versa and are offered free until January 15, 2020. The rides are limited to first 20 passengers per station. Shown here is a trip from Vito Cruz, Manila station to Dela Rosa Station in Makati.

Yes we should support our industry. But right now we dont have experience in train manufacturing. We need to send our engineers abroad for study and training, and build a railway academy institute. Hopefully we can manufacture our train in the future.

Because its diesel powered. All PNR trains run on diesel while the metro lines are electrified via overhead wiring. In terms of metro rail, you are only going to see electic powered trains with no overhead wiring if its powered by *third rail* like those found in the London Underground and NYC Subway. Based on what I know, the upcoming MRT-7 will use third rail electrification meaning no need for overhead wires for power supply.
