A subway is currently under construction connecting BGC to the rest of the metro. It will also have a line that will connect it to the airport (NAIA). Bright prospects ahead.

"Under construction" in the Philippines is not a standard English term. It's Filipino English, meaning 5-10 years to completion. The Tagalog expression for that is "mamaya na po" (years) or "drawing lang" (decades).

Yes, in a few years (hopefully before 2030), BGC will be connected to NAIA via subway. Clark Airport will also be connected by a separate project (North-South Commuter Railway).

The construction around the BGC just confirms that the BGC that the world is talking about is NOT a bubble rather the reality of the creation of a new city and will be in the next five decades. However, there are new cities being created and built. Even where the SM MOA is found, the whole area is a reclamation area of nearly 1,000 hectares, now fully developed. That is the reality of the Philippines. No turning back. Check out Vertis North, too.

So far there are 4 railway systems in and around Metro Manila. These are the MRT along Edsa, LRT 1 in the City of Manila, LRT line 2 that will bring you to the east side of the metropolis and the PNR connecting Manila to nearby provinces. Currently there are two subways underconstruction and it will create big change in the near future.

    • @marcosbrocvalls
      @marcosbrocvalls 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

Tagalog "near future", meaning "next decades". When those are finished, new problems would have already arised. As MRT-7 was originally planned in the 70's and we are still waiting and suffering the unending road works and destruction of pedestrian areas which will never be reclaimed.

Great video. I'm a Filipino living in Dallas and I could certainly say that Metro Manila's LRT + MRT lines are way advanced and commuter friendlier than here in Dallas. Also, the Metro line here only serves just a part of the whole DFW area unlike the LRT/MRT systems there. Super thanks for highlighting and trying out my country's metro rails. I enjoyed your blog so much! Cheers!

You alighted at the Araneta Center Cubao Station. I think you can give it a shot for another vlog. MRT will take you to atleast several business districts like Vertis North, Araneta City, Ortigas Business District, BGC via Guadalupe Station, and Makati business district. MRT is connected to the LRT line 1 and LRT line 2 (through a skyway bridge in Araneta Center Cubao Station)

You can avail a beep card and you can save some few pesos atleast if you wish to patronize all the trains. Beep cards are reloadable and can be use also in some buses and modern jeepneys. I heard you can also use it as alternative to a debit card if you wish to purchase something (not sure tho). I had a beep card and i can use it still. its the same card i had ever since i was in college.

From my understanding filming on the platforms are forbidden but not strictly enforced. It’s for security reasons specially back when there were bomb threaths a long long time ago. Also, on Araneta-Cubao MRT station you could actually go through the mall to transfer to another line which is LRT2. LRT2 is the most recent line with larger coaches. The Philippines is the first country in Southeast Asia to get a mass rapid transit line in the 80s followed by Singapore & Malaysia.

The Philippines seems to be more developed than S.Korea. Manila subway and skyscrapers are better than Seoul! 🤙
Manila is the best city in Asia and a wonderful city.
There are 1,000 buildings over 30 stories in Seoul, but there are more than 2,000 in Manila.
The streets are dirty and the streets of Korea are overflowing with beggars. More than 50% of the people are beggars. Manila is a clean, beautiful city with high-rise buildings, large shopping malls, and overflowing with rich people.
In Manila, restaurants and convenience stores are all guarded by security guards armed with live ammunition. S Korea is so poor that they cannot hire security guards. So Manila is wealthier and safer than Seoul.
The Philippines is rich and Korea is poor. Korea should ask the Philippines for help.
The only thing they boast about is kpop and k drama. They are poor and cannot even buy fruit because the cost of living is high. If the Philippines had not helped them in the Korean War, they would have become a communist country. Korea should be forever grateful to the Philippines.

South Korea is pretty rich as well. Average price of little tiny apartment in Seoul is a way above $300,000. in USD. Since when how many tall buildings in the city become criteria to judge the country? Lol what r u? A five yrs old??
I live in Washington DC in the states. We don't have one single tall building in Washington D.C. ( National Monument is probably the tallest thing here) but Nobody can deny this is one of the richest cities in the world!. Lol

but the rate of improvement and upgrade has been so slow. it was at times frustrating to ride specifically rush hours. The line going to station stretch about 1km😅. Also sometimes the train suddenly stop at the middle of the rack. And the passengers need to disembark. Hopefully, the two subway lines, new MRT line, LRT extensions, and the North-South Commuter Rail, all of these under construction right now will improve the mass transportation in Metro Manila.

LRT are old stations and may be older trains but bigger in size, though MRT might be cooler in temp. You should take the BGC bus next time, it's in One Ayala bus bay, where you got off from MRT. There is an ongoing subway construction with routes connecting to BGC, Makati, airport.

Hi Zane, Philippines have also 2 under construction subways (including BGC Station 😊) in Metro Manila after 5 years. Extensions and Brand new MRTs, LRTs, PNR and North South Railway plus monorail from Makati to Uptown or (BGC Station also). All done after 5-6 years 😊 take care always Zane.

I dont think it will be fully operational 5-6yrs from now. Well at least those extensions somehow might be operarional (LRT1). Though I just hope it will be indeed operational by 2030. But the subway, MRT7, NSCR, elevated PNR probably will take 10yrs more to finish.

@@lukasloh2509maybe youre right and it depends how fast the construction done, but according to JICA and DOT, 2025 is the partial and 2027 full operational.

I'm a Filipino, now living in America.
I get so NERVOUS when I see foreigners take public transportation in Metro Manila.
There are pickpockets, scammers and opportunists everywhere because it's a third world country.

That MRT line runs over Epifanio De los Santos Avenue (EDSA), while the LRT runs over Taft Ave. Btw, the Philippines' first subway line is being constructed. FINALLY.

I've been watching a lot of your vlogs since I found out about you. I plan to visit the Philippines and stay in Makati for a month. How do you get around without being a target for pickpockets and bad vibes. Some of my family and friends are warning me not to walk around alone in Manila. How did you do it without being a victim of some sort of trouble?
