It always hurts my soul when I watch these concert performances on late night shows with an audience filled with people who don’t care about the performer. He’s dancing around and pointing to the audience like he’s at a concert and they would know the lyrics, but it’s a bunch of people who barely know what a Beck is.
He’s performing for the people at home! That audience is way larger and potential to attend his concert! 😄 why else do people announce what they’re working on! Spreading the word to sell tickets books movies!

Mossfaerie If it was Taylor Swift or some other mainstream artist they would have been cheering the entire time, whistling and yelping. They give standing ovations to every artist because that’s what the signs tell them to do
Cineha lol I would worry about it, the audience gets specific directions from the sound state guys too. They can’t get as rowdy as in a concert anyway.
A strange combination of sounds and chords resulted in a piece of music worth listening to. I have a strange feeling which I am loving while listening to this. BEAUTIFUL.

One of the greatest things I ever saw was at Temple Newsam in Leeds, and Beck popping up in a glittery cowboy suit and hat on stage, and breakdancing. I'm pretty sure thousands had no idea what they were watching.

Goddamn, I love that low-pass-filtered tune at the beginning of the song. I wish the album version held onto that intro as long as this performance does.
This performance overall seems better arranged than the album version. It's a damn shame.

That last album sure disappointed me. But yeah, prior to that awful dud, I would have agreed with you. He certainly had a good run.
It's been uneven, certainly. Often the remix albums are better than the original.
What I was referring to is that he always has a great song, almost every year or so , not that his entire catalog is perfect.

Colbert often has on some great performances! This was one of them!! Amazing song. Loved the groovy babes doing backing vocals (Couldn't for the life of me figure out what their names were using google). And the weird keyboard tune was fascinating. I googled him and was saddened to find out he's unfortunately a scientologist. Sigh. Doesn't change the fact that this is an amazing song, in any case!

I agree. When I first put this on I was expecting something akin to “your eyes get stung by the rays of the sinking sun” vibe from Morning Phase, and we got “I want you, I need you,” on Colors. I wasn’t prepared. It took awhile, but now I can’t turn it off.

It's funny u say that cuz when introducing his band he said he likes to call the trio behind him (the 2 girls and the guy) the B-53's. I cant get enough of this honestly. I loved loser when I was a kid and I love this now. Hes really super talented. Takes alot of talent to switch genres like that.

Another great song from Beck But it looks like radio 104.5 Philadelphia alternative has pulled it from there airplay. They must still have it in for Beck because of the lawsuit back in 2015 when dreams came out Beck was at radio 104.5 in Philadelphia with his two kids as word has it one of Beck's kids was molested by someone at this radio station & Beck sued them this is why this station stopped playing dreams in November 2015 & they never played wow That's radio 104.5 they do what they want with a performing artist kids & if he does anything about it they block his music from the public
