  • Here is Pour day as we lay down the concrete for the driveway and walkway area. We also put a floating step in the walkway to give the front entrance more appeal while also pouring a small concrete retaining wall! Hope you all enjoy and don't forget to LIKE,SHARE,SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT!

    On a similar job we used 3/4 stakes and pre-trimmed flush to the top of all 2x4 frames and covered gaps with overlapping layers of red stucco tape to keep out concrete from falling in the gaps. Finishers sponged off the red tape as they edged and then upon frame removal, we Sawzalled through the nails holding the stakes to the 2x4's and pulled out the between stakes and the pre-oiled 2x4's came out pretty easy. We debated if we were overthinking it but it worked out great and was a easy removal due to an hour of taping the joints.

      Thats a good concept but with form oil and screeds, edgers, hand floats and other things hitting the top of the form, tape is not going to hold. I recommend putting a flexible filler in between the forms, like expansion foam, backer rod.

    awesome job yall. a puller tool would work good on removing those stubborn form boards. it could be a piece of all thread with a hook at the end and there could be a frame that sits ontop of the concrete to pull against. and the hook will drop down under the form board and then turn the all thread to pull the form out.
    could also lay an 8"x8" wood block on the concrete and lay a burkes bar across the block and hook a chain on the end of the bar and the bottom of the chain hooks on the form board and pry that stubber biotch out of there.

    You could use 3/4 inch strips of pink or blue insulation foam between the 2 by 4 lumber so no concrete fills the space. Then use a solvent, perhaps gasoline to dissolve the foam and create a space, then remove the form boards.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete
      @OdellCompleteConcrete  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good idea. the foam is flexible so I don't think you would have to remove it first to get the forms out

    Some foam in the caps between the boards would have been the way to go like you said. I think what would have helped to get these out is if you made a few rip cuts with a skil saw at full depth. 3 cuts and you would have opened up about a 1/4"

    Hi Dave, I got a classic rookie question … the 2x4 screed board that they are using at first, is it planed at all to make sure it is flat with crisp edge or is it of-the shelf piece? I am curious because of usual crown/bow type of issues with framing lumber. In your line of work its all about super-level and crisp lines etc. Great work per usual. Always something to learn. Thanks in advance.
