    Thank you so much for creating this video. It really has given me the confidence to install my remote. You explain things so basically that someone like me with zero experience can understand. Thanks again!

    Fantastic!!! I had watched other videos but yours showed why you were changing out your unit and it was the exact same problem I was having so Thank you very much!! I’m a complete novice where electrical work is concerned but between your video and the instructions that came with my receiver I now have a working ceiling fan and light in my son’s bedroom! Thank you!

    Just wanted to thank you for this video. Even though it really is simple, as someone who has never done any sort of project involving wiring, this video was very helpful. It gave me the confidence to do it myself and it worked! The wires ended being the easy part, the hardest part was putting the dang canopy back on 😄 Thanks!

    Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

    That is a Hunter Designer's Choice. The fan is even older than the old remote; the fan is from around mid 1980s while the old remote is from around after 2000.

    Thanks for the video. I'm having the same issue, the light is flashing. but the ceiling fan is not spinning. I'm not sure in your video if the fan was working with the old remote. For my case, do you think it is still due to the old remote control and receiver. Thanks.

    Main 2 WHT blk wires plug into the clear connectors. Don't cut them off. Easier and faster than wire nuts!!

    Hi Joseph. Thanks for share this video. Im in similar situation for a Hampton Bay fan, the diference is that my old fan receiver has two cords aditionals to red and blue: green and yellow, and the receiver that I bought has only two (like in your video). Do you has idea how to connect the cables? Thanks.

    • @josephk9182
      @josephk9182  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the green wire is the ground. You need to do the following:
      1. Disconnect electricity to fan .
      2. Mark the 3 wires of the fan (2 wires go to motor and 1 wire to light when usually the black and white go to motor and the red or the blue going to light) .
      3. Remove the old receiver.
      4. connect the new receiver 5 wires (2 to 120 V source ) and the 3 other wire to receiver. The green wire should go to ground.
      Question: Where the yellow and the green wires are currently connected ?

    To others watching this video: If your ceiling fan light is blinking, and your ceiling fan might be from 2007 or newer, it could also be a wattage limiter. Policy states that ceiling fans made in or after 2007 must have wattage limiter when including light kit, unless it includes CFL bulbs. It would be best to remove and bypass limiter first if there is one, then replace the remote receiver if it still blinks. Wattage limiter can be found in switch housing, or maybe even inside motor housing. However, the fan in this video is from mid 1980s so there is no way it has a wattage limiter.

      The issue was the old receiver. I installed the same receiver on a number of ceiling fans in my house in 2009. All the receivers have similar issue with the lights after 8 years or so (no issue with fan speed only light). I believe this is the life expectation of these receiver. The new receivers are much better.

    • @CeilingFanVideosOnYT
      @CeilingFanVideosOnYT 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I know it's the receiver issue in your case, but some people had similar problem caused by wattage limiter.
      Some people replace ceiling fans because they want ones that are remote controlled. It's a good thing you kept the old fans, they don't make things like they used to anymore!

      You probably have old remot that can not filter electromagntic noise. You should buy a new remote to replace the old one. Here is a link to new good remote and how to install it:
