- "How To" video number 23: Frontside 180 aka FS 180
This trick has been requested since I started making how to videos but I never got around to it because I had made the quick tips about 180s. I decided to finally get a legitimate full how to frontside 180 out there.
I'm sorry if it's not as comprehensive as you'd like, I have been busy with vacation and homework, but I tried to fit this video in real quick!
The main things to take away from this are:
Rotate your shoulders
Shift your weight to your front trucks to roll away correctly
Frontside 180 Quick Tips:
• Quick Tips Ep. 1: Fron...
As always, good luck with this one! You definitely can learn it if you try.
If you need any specific help just leave a comment and I'll try my best to explain things more.
Thank you for watching!

I wholeheartedly agree with this^. I always send people to you first
OMG, i ve been wztching braille and there frontside 180 tips and they didnt help at all, i watch this video and i can ddo it in 15 minuits 😃
braille skateboarding is better.
braille's videos are better when it comes to flip tricks and stuff to practice before trying but jump jumping tricks they dont do as well as VL
well, then you must have not wached the highest ollie challange
No wonder I've been having problems with this, my back foot position has been wrong, I've been using the normal ollie position!

@@VLSkate srry he meant the best teacher
I ride goofy and my brain is struggling to reverse things lol
Lol same
Martin Simeonov flip the video
I know right
Same lmao
Go watch braille's tutorial on it then cause I'm regular and I had trouble since he's goofy
Wow, I really appreciated the way you explained the trick : you didn't only just shown how to do it, you explained how to overcome all the issues that ppl can face while learning this trick. That was really helpful, you've earned a new sub !
Rurik Jenkins Can you do it now?
Hu
Ong he did
@@bokodream9851 I can
When he gave the first tip to shift your weight to the front I figured I’d try that out real quick. I did the Ollie while shifting my weight forward and turning my whole body and landed the FS 180 right on that try...
Same thing happened to me, after shifting my weight in the 180 it just clicked and landed it in a few more tries. In all my time watching Braille don’t think I’ve heard this tip before
I regret wasting money on Skateboarding Made Simple. Way better tutorials out there for free
skateboarding made simple is pretty good but not worth the price
AzureSkull is it better than his TH-cam tutorials or nah?
@@johnnyq9007 pretty much the same only with minor more tips
Lol you actially bought that grabage
Lol you actually bought that? Fools will always be fools
I got my front 180s down just a couple weeks before you published this so I wasn't able to use it to learn, but you addressed all the issues I was having while learning it. I think this video will be very helpful for people still trying to learn them! Your content is great! Keep it up!
It's funny because one day, practing my ollies I accidentally did this and since the day I did it I couldn't get it right but this is a big help right here.
Honestly I’ve been struggling with this trick for so long (couple of months), I have only been able to rotate the board 90 degrees because all Braille said was rotate your shoulders... after watching this video managed to learn this in about 1 hour. Thank you for making this videos they help unreal amounts
You're the best skate trainer on youtube for sure
"Exagerate the movements until you get used to it"
Really important point here guys!
(I can do fs180 since forever and this is one of the most important tips for learning bs/fs ollies)
Great vid as always!
Ok teacher chill it
Randomly tried it today and landed it in 20mins. Best day ever and I can’t really Ollie btw. You guys got this!
After 10 plus years of not being on a board I decided to try and pick it up again. I loved skating as a kid but was never very good and frontside 180s always eluded me (I thought backsides were easier but they are NOT). Anyways, once I saw how you angle your back foot I was able to get them around! Then I realzied that harder and faster you pop the tail the easier the trick becomes. Now I can get them pretty high and smooth! thanks for all your time man, you really are helping a lot of people!
Dude I've been trying for a few days by just ollieing and turning. Your tutorials have helped me so much man. You're the best!
Man, I've been doing them like ollies for MONTHS thinking that it's just me misplacing my feet. Thanks man, you've saved me a lot of struggle.
Before watching you, i couldent ollie and i gave up really fast.
But after a couple weeks i saw your video in the "reccomended"
I watched tye video 2 times, and i got my first ollie.
My progression is all because of you
sHoRtLy AfTeR lEaRnInG tHe Ollie
It took me a couple of months to land it correctly. Man it was annoying
Took me an hour
alien cheeks trust me!
Prob cuz you were playing fortnite
i learned how to ollie in 4 days. its been 2 weeks and i cant fs 180
I cant even turn the board
I'm 32 just getting back into skating after fifteen years of real life, and man I have to say back in my day we didn't have TH-cam to learn off you learned from watching skate videos or from your friends or people at the park willing to give pointers. Great stuff man 👌👍👍
26 here and just got back into it! Feels good man
Anyone else think this guy is the most professional skate teacher? He explains the tricks better than anyone.
The sky looks so nice (:

I just started skating again after a 15 year hiatus. This is the first trick I tried after feeling comfortable and consistent with my ollies and I got this down in about half an hour thanks to this video. Thanks so much, your tutorials are amazing!
Bro this tutorial really helped I thought you popped like an Ollie but you don’t I almost have it.
Thanks.
I have it on lock now: Dec 2020 😂
THAT'S WHAT I WAS MISSING!!! I needed to put my back foot in the heel-side pocket. I love you man.
Best tutorial ever landed it in 1 day
You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me what I’ve done wrong
3 yrs later ur tutorials are still the best thanks for helping me get better at skating bro
This was a massive help thank you!!! You're the first trick tip I watched that mentioned the heelside pocket and push with your bacl foot! I always did just standard Ollie position with my front foot way back behind the bolts rather than more up on the nose! Landed several off a box today! Nice!
VL skate is like the most beginner friendly youtube channel ever
Didn’t know how to do anything until I saw this guide, because of it I landed my first frontside 180 in under 5 minutes thanks man
This guy has some of the best skate hot to videos out there but let’s not shit on anyone else’s videos guys. They all put a lot of work into them to help skaters progress. VL - thanks for all the vids they’re awesome
Omg I’ve gone months without improving my family 180 at all and after watching this I can go almost 90 degrees thank you so much
Thanks to you I landed it in one day, You are truly a good instructor
I like how he really goes into depth on how to do the trick it really helps to understand what your supposed to be doing
landed my first frontside 180 after three days and this is the only video i watched so thank you
Watched your video and got my first fs 180 in the 10 next min. Now working on doing them while rolling.
Great tutorial! Landed my first within 2 days of practice
im kind of disappointed that i havent watched your videos when i was young. Im trying to skate again after 5 years and im even having a hard time doing this trick even tho i almost got it when i was young. I love your content, man, keep it up (although this comment is 3 years late)
Been trying to nail my 180s for about a week and couldn't get it. I watched this video and I got it in like three tries. Putting my rear foot in the pocket is what made the difference.
Yeah I used to pop straight down then turn my shoulders. That tip really helped me. For some reason I cant do fs 180s but I can bs 180 perfectly
Deagle760 same it weird
Deagle760 back 180s are my favs. Get a good speed, don't forget to turn your shoulders, and really slide your foot on the deck, so the deck stays underneath
Deagle760 it really is a load of BS *laugh track*. yea i have no friends
It's cause you usually pop the board with your left foot like me.
Deagle760 You’re supposed to pop them straight down and do a late 180 if you want to get them high. My first 180s were shuv its body varial, that’s why I can’t do them over anything, so I learned to do it the proper way where you do an ollie 90 then just pivot the rest mid air.
Bro your tips are very useful, I’m a new skater about 5 weeks in and I landed my first frontside 180 tonight!!🙌🏾 and I’ve been hitting it very consistently after that. Thank you
BRO AFTER I WATCHED THIS VIDEO I KNEW HOW TO FRONTSIDE 180!!!! SO HAPPY TYSM BRO love you 🥳🥳🥳❤
I'd love a varial heel flip video! I can do all of the basics plus some medium tricks (mostly tre flips, big spins, inward heels, back heels and such) but I have absolutely no clue how to form that trick. I think my front shovs suck, not sure.
Glad to see you back making those videos, they definitely are worth the wait :)
Show many ppl make there tutorials so intense, urs is calm and collective thanks
my most consistent trick to this day, the only trick besides ollies that I almost never fail
thank you, i’ve watching this video over and over, as well as others, but i really think that this video helped me learn how to 180. i did like 1 real one yesterday and just did at least ten today, they are not perfect but it’s because of you. i watched a braille video once and it had a different foot position then yours, i tried it but i couldn’t do as well as i did with the position you said to do it in, and that’s how i do it now.(not saying braille is wrong, it’s just if your comfortable) this trick really only took me 4 months, started in August i think, and i’m going to stick with skateboarding because it’s fun. thank you VL skate
Landed a fs 180 in an hour with this, luv u 🖤
I cant stay on the board it just keeps flyes away from me
oh yeah yeah.
mitä ukko
Don’t lean too forward or back when you do the trick. It will lead to you not having balance and the board will just fly out.
otso torille
ur weight must be off, if ur weight is too fat forward or back the board will pop away from u because your pushing it that way. try to stay centered
Thank you so much! I learned how to do this on a matter of hours instead of the braille alternative of 8 weeks.
not too sure about the suggestion to scoop the tail, personally, but this just goes to show there's many ways to do or think about doing even the most basic tricks. It might seem more difficult if you're just starting out to pop straight down, but that'll teach you to pop a good ollie and rotate your upper body correctly. Again, there's no rules, so whatever works for you, but I'd rather work on popping my 180s high and save the scoop for FS bigspins.
Arno Theadorno yeah i know what you mean, for these easier tricks i try to over-emphasize some of the movements for beginners because chances are they'll probably try popping more like an ollie anyway. it's like when you keep telling someone to flick out for a kickflip but they still flick down. i struggle sometimes between what the trick is actually like and what steps i think should be exaggerated to help a beginner
yeah your tip really helped me to improve my 180's as before i would only land them on a good day. so thanks again for your tutorials
Can someone help i can make the board go 180 but only my front foot lands on my board
this channel is SO underrrated ! luv your vids man keep it up!
THANK YOU BRO 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I LANDED IT! AT FIRST THE BOARD SLIPPED AND I SKINNED MY WHOLE KNEE, BUT THE NEXT DAY I TRIED IT AND BOOM LANDED ROLLED AWAY SWITCH BUT I DIDNT LAND ON THE FRONT TRUNK IT DID THE FULL 180 WITH A LOW ONE AND STILL ROLLED AWAY🙏🙏🙏
Great tutorial, I think my problem was foot placement. I was doing the regular ollie pop, which was probably the reason I came to a complete stop after the rotation, this helped, thanks!
easily the best tutorials... no stone unturned
I like learning from this guy because he rides regular which is what I ride and he explains stuff good
You're literally a godsend.
I just want to say thanks because I landed my first frontside 180s today
Thanks man. It was your video that got me
there. In the end it was a clean Ollie and wind up that did it. Only one face plant so far.
So going to try that today. Doing a skate challenge for the moment and that's next weeks trick. got one week to land it. Super explanation. Cheers for that.
Thank you so much I’ve been trying for months to get this down and I just got it down today thanks
this is so much better than braille I can't believe it. thanks bro. really insightful tips that get right at the problems I was having.
I feel like I'll never be able to physically comprehend this 😭
Did you?
@Allie Cameron
Same
did u?
This helped me so much! Finally landed a few of these today. Feels good. Thank you!
Nice Vid this was really helpful I actually landed it a little after I watched the video.
You are the best skateboard youtuber and my favorite!
I Like How VLSkate Don't Mock People Because they can already do it so it's simple for them but vlskate breaks it down for us thx bro
So much better than braille that just tell you to turn your shoulders. Amazing video.
This is way better than braille. You are so underrated
Bro because of you I learned it under an hour!!!! Thank you so much
I wish I checked this out a long time ago. I only ever watched braille's tutorial and all aaron said was it's the same shit as the ollie but just twist your body. I never even had my back foot right. I have the rotation and front foot land on lock, but thanks to this video I figured out my back foot was off this whole time. Imma go skate right now since it gave me a shit ton of motivation on how easy it looks
Your tutorials are the basolute best! So much details and so well explained! Thank you so much!!!
Braille skateboarding makes it seem like you Ollie first and then turn, but this makes much more sense. But trying their way makes it harder. I know there’s multiple ways to do every trick but this seems the right way
Thank you VLSkate I was having trouble landing it, but after my 10th attempt I finally landed it correctly and starting to land it more and more
This is so much better than the braille version, even the updated one
Bro thank you I been trying for the past hour thinking I wouldn’t land any but I landed 2!
Braille does trick tutorial for money but you do it for us
Good comment
Thank you so much I've been working on this trick and landed it 10 minutes after watching this video
Way better than Aron's shit tutorial. This actually helped me learn it
JuSt TuRn Ur BoDY
Chris
I agree, but don’t be dissin Aaron

Been working on shuvs its like all year and finally landed them and got them a bit more consistent and fs 180 is the next trick i wanna learn. :)
Love Aaron kyro and all but vl skate gives this tutorial so much better
Thanks for making this video I just landed my first front side one eighty thanks to this video keep making videos
your tips are always the most helpful to me! keep doing them!
you have literally taught me everything i know on a skateboard best tutorials on TH-cam much love bro❤️
Thank you for the tip Shoulder rotation as soon as you said that I went outside and landed the trick 30 minutes later.
I would appreciate if you did stance goofy and regular because its hard to imagine it goofy while regular thank you
If he did It goofy it would be switch for him which is harder.
You just need to do it goofy. Do what he does goofy
If its really big problem for u then u can download the video and mirror reverse it
Bro get a better brain
This deserves so many more likes than it has
You’re awesome man . Your tip videos are so great man . Keep up the good work .
Hey wrong video, but your ollietutorial helped me today to land my first ollie on a box
Thank you!
i'm learning this trick it's so fun i love frontside 180 variants
better than Braille's tutorial
Gerard Durnota Fr doe
Gerard Durnota Braille sucks
Aaron Kyro, a sponsored skateboarder from the san Fransisco Bay Area ia cool and all, but this guy go's way more in depth
I like your videos!!! You explain every step in great detail. No many people are good at that...
Holy shit... Finally got the right foot position and its a really easy trick thanks man
Watched this tutorial today and landed the trick today as well
just watched this today, helped so much and landed it today!
This tutorial is so much better then the one at braille
you are doing the best (how to ) i have ever seen
I've been messing this up for a week now lol but tomorrow i'm gonna try it your way since I now realize i was doing it wrong!
Your tutorials are amazing, you need more subs and views
THANKS A LOT I JUST LEARNED FS 180 BECAUSE OF YOU 😊
The foot positioning really helped me land my first one
